Tastefully re-decorated this family size cottage is the perfect escape. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne it is close enough to stay for a weekend, and well equipped to linger over a week. If you're looking for somewhere chilled this is the spot where family memories are made!
Coronet Bay is a hidden gem. Located just 5 km off the Bass Coast Highway it is far enough to leave the traffic but close enough to Phillip Island and other local attractions should the kids ever tire of the beautiful sandy beach.
The general store has a bit of everything including $1 lolly bags for a simple treat. It's just 150 metres away en route to the beach.
The beach itself is sheltered and makes for great swimming or passive water sports. There's a well maintained foreshore including a new children's playground, coin BBQ's, all weather shelter, toilets, boat ramp and walking path. Best of all it's doggy heaven as your pooches can go there all day, all year round off lead.
Additionally, there's Corinella Jetty just around the corner(or a long walk along the beach at low tide). It is known as a fisherman's paradise; or just a simple excuse to go for a walk with an ice cream. In the summer there's a ferry to French Island- full of history and natural beauty.
The award winning La Provincia Italian farm produce shop and restaurant is just a 5 minute drive away (closed Mondays and cash only). It stocks fresh produce, antipasto items and cakes. Gina's home picked olives will leave you craving more!
Grantville has a plethora of services including Doctor, Chemist, Bakery, Post Office, Bottle Shop and service station available during normal business hours. The fish and chip shop is excellent.
Finally if you really have the midnight munchies there's a 24 hour McDonalds and service station in Bass (5km via back road in the opposite direction)....but you won't pass it on the way in so the best kept secret from the kids!
A private family and dog friendly space for all.
Cutty Sark Cottage @ Coronet Bay is set up so a family can be self sufficient. The kitchen is open plan and fitted with quality crockery and a range of appliances that make holiday catering a breeze. There's a slow cooker so you can take the time to enjoy life's simple pleasures; in addition to a Jura coffee machine for those of us that cannot go without our daily cup.
There's a queen size bed in one room and a double bed in the other room. Guests need to bring their own linen and towels. All mattresses are new and meet Australian Standards.
The bathroom has a large vanity with toilet and shower bath for a long soak should you take the time.
The open living space includes enough dvds, books and board games to keep any family amused on a rainy day. You can entertain on either the formal dining table or outdoor table setting. Huge sliding doors overlook the deck, yard and horse paddocks beyond. There's even a sea view with French Island in the distance
A full outdoor lounge and dining table enable easy outdoor enteratining. There's also a hammock to relax in Northerly sun after a long day out.
Behind the paddocks are BMX tracks which are easily accessed via the side street. There's loads of space in the secure yard for kids and dogs to play. Dogs are by request only and not welcome in the bedrooms or on couches. The cottage is not recommended for babies and young toddlers because of it's elevation.
Doonas and pillows are provided however guests need to bring their own doona covers, pillow cases, sheets and towels. A full sheet and towel set is is available at extra cost by advance request.

It costs just over $10 from the City, making a viable solution to taking a second car.

Beautiful big back deck with a great view. Only one AC but it did keep the rooms cool. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and easy to access everything. Really lovely property with a great location and proximity to the beach.
The property was really well located, just walking distance to the beach. It was securely fenced and great for our senior dog to enjoy, relaxing on the lawn. The house was well appointed throughout and we could relax and take in the beautiful view from the deck. The hammock was such a great way to relax on the sunny days. And those rainy days, we could just snuggle on the couches and watch a series or two on streaming. Highly recommend this place, little hidden gem. Thanks to Donna who was lovely to communicate with
We all enjoyed another wonderful holiday at Cutty Sark Cottage. Such an easy walk to the beach and with such great weather we spent a lot of time on the great deck space and at the beach.
The cottage was in a great location with just a short stroll to the beach. It was clean with plenty of sitting areas inside and out.We had very hot weather but the AC easily kept the whole area cool.
Perfect for a weekend getaway for a family a couple or even your best furry friend a great spot to getaway with short travels to your favourite spots near the bay or near the island. Great local community and spots to get food and keep everyone entertained. Great communication with host and easiest quick stay ive ever experienced
Comfortable, light and airy beach house with generous sized deck for outdoor eating & chilling out. We had everything we needed for our stay. Thanks to host, Donna for her excellent communication and local information.
Loved our time here I would highly recommend to friends and family maybe fly screens on the sliding door would be a good idea so in the evening you can open the doors we will book again 4 stars
We stayed 13 nights in February.
Cutty Sark Cottage is the ideal home away from home.
House is very clean and comfy.
The back deck is perfect to relax and indulge in a gin or two in the afternoon! We had our two fur babies with us also and they felt right at home.
Great spot..
Cutty Sark Cottage is a tastefully renovated beach house close to the beach while still maintaining a quiet and tranquil experience. The spacious new deck had a lovely view and the cottage was clean and well provisioned. Despite some inclement weather, we enjoyed a cosy and very enjoyable stay and hope to return soon.
Great little compact place. Very close to the beach/ bay and a local general store/ food takeaway shop and playground. The deck and the yard out back are very nice to sit out and relax. Secure for a pet. Firm mattress in queen room - clean.
Phillip island is not far away drive.
Good house for small family, comfortable beds, close to beach so easy walk, house was in excellent condition and very clean apart from dog hair on one couch which we didn't use. Two Storey house next door so not a lot of privacy in backyard however great space for kids and dog to play. Great base to stay to explore the South Coast or just enjoy the beach without driving.
We had a great time at this place. It had a great outdoor area for our energetic pup to play in and very close to the beach. The general store had great pizza and fish and chips too.
My only recommendation would be for the host to provide some tea towels and hand towels. We bought our own bath towels and linen but tea towels and hand towels would have been nice.
Donna was easily contactable. I thank her from the bottom of my heart for opening up her house to be dog friendly - we had a lovely time, the location is fantastic and its a beautiful and friendly community - hopefully we can return next year
My family and I stayed at the cottage and had a fantastic time. It was clean and the kitchen had everything you need to cook if wanted. The tv was smart and already hiked to the internet: the backyard was large and with enough space for the dogs to run around. Only thing as the cottage if dog friendly, the entrance door needs some repairing so the dogs wouldn’t ran away. Other than that our stay was perfect. Thank you to Donna and Steve. We would love to come back if possible
