Riverdale - An escape from the Yarra Valley

We purchased Riverdale in 2009 after instantly falling in love with the magic exuding from the beautiful flower gardens, fields, bush lands and old majestic gum trees on the river flats of the Yarra River. We wanted to share this unique place with others and had the idea to develop an accommodation and retreat venue that maintains a strong philosophy of sustainability.

Working with biodynamic principles, we have since then been passionately and dedicatedly transforming the property into what some have called a ‘paradise off the grid', relying on solar power and tank water.

The property features a large kitchen and bush food garden, a two-acre flower garden with over 100 rose bushes and an orchard. With paths along the bordering Yarra River and through open fields, and the Warburton ranges as a backdrop, guests can walk and explore the unique beauty this property holds.

Guests can also enjoy swims in the river, games of table tennis, beautiful picnic spots, ride along the passing Lilydale to Warburton trail or take short drives to the many nearby popular attractions including famous Yarra Valley wineries and lush mountain forests.

Accommodation Details

3 bedrooms that can comfortably sleep up to 6 people can be rented by guests.

– 2 bedrooms have 2 single beds in each room

– 1 bedroom has a double bed

All bedrooms have brand new comfortable mattresses, and top quality bed linen is provided. All rooms are fitted with hydronic heaters.

There is a fully equipped kitchen, three bathrooms, a dining area and large living area with an open fireplace to enjoy in winter.

Great weekend away

This property was so incredibly relaxing and great being off grid to get kids off devices. Definitely plan to book again for a longer stay to unwind more!

Peaceful weekend away!

We loved Riverdale. Great little escape and the kids made their own fun collecting firewood and going for walks around the property. Close to everything you need to access but far enough away to be completely alone! Would recommend.

We had a very peaceful and relaxing break thanks to a comfortable house and a stunning property. The views were amazing, mountains, ancient-looking gumtrees, rivers and beautiful gardens. Thank you.

A quiet corner.

Our stay was the perfect peaceful relaxing getaway. Long walks to the river and around the garden. Snug and cosy night's by the fire after spending time star gazing. The house is clean and well set up maximising the views of the garden. Beds were super comfy! Thankyou for having us. We will be back!

Peaceful place

We really enjoyed our stay at riverdale. The house is very clean and has everything you need. The beds are very comfortable , we all had good sleep there. Martina is a very lovely lady, she provided all the information we need, and she allowed us to pick fruit and vegetables in the garden. Thanks a lot !

Wonderful peaceful escape

Beautiful gardens, lots of seating, river to splash in and gorgeous clean house. All very relaxing. lovely host booked in with minimum of fuss. Make sure you understand that the house is off-grid, with everything that comes with being off-grid. We had the most lovely girls weekend away. Would very happily stay here again.

Beautiful Property

5 of us stayed at Riverdale in July for our annual girls weekend. The property was just beautiful and the house was very clean. The fire place in the living room made for a very relaxing time. The house is very eco friendly and electricity is generated from Solar. The only downside to that is there are quite a few restrictions on what appliances can be used and how long heating can be used in the bedrooms. Normally this wouldn't be an issue for me but I did find that over winter it was very difficult to warm up the sleeping areas.

Beautiful accomodation

We absolutely loved our stay at riverdale. The property was gorgeous, so relaxing and peaceful. Martina is also a wonderul host and supplied us with delicious produce from the veggie garden.
