The Outhouse

This two bedroom cottage is situated in a lovely rural setting about 12 kilometres east of Naracoorte and off the Wimmera Highway.
Offering two bedrooms, the main with a Queen sized bed, 'The Outhouse' is perfect for an affordable short holiday when you just want to immerse yourself in the beautiful country surrounds, or base yourself while contract working.

The Outhouse isn't five star, but it's clean and comfortable. The kitchen area has a freestanding oven, microwave and fridge. A large rustic dining table is perfect for entertaining, and is adjacent the lounge area with TV.
The Outhouse has a new split system for heating and cooling, while there are ceiling fans in the spacious bedrooms.
Outside offers is a pretty spot to sit with a glass of wine and enjoy the view across the paddock, with sheep and ponies.
The Outhouse is the perfect spot to base yourself while you're exploring the wonderful South East, and is just a few kilometres from the world famous Naracoorte Caves.
(Please note - The Outhouse is about 100 metres from the main house)

The location of this accommodation is only 10 mins from town centre so peaceful and relaxing we really enjoyed our time there would recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at the outhouse. Our hosts were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The cottage is located a short drive from the caves and town whilst providing the peace and tranquility of a farm stay making it the perfect base to explore the region.

Excellent property

We stayed at The Outhouse on our recent short holiday, and it was the perfect place to stay. It was like a home away from home, with the added feature of farm animals. We would definitely consider staying at The Outhouse again on our next holiday to Naracoorte.

Communication from host was outstanding; and even with the property listed as "clean", I did not expect a spotless lodge. Well stocked kitchen and a good sized pantry, don't expect breakfast catered for but it will be enough to get you by before a store run (not allowed to bring veg and plants from VIC in). Thanks Rose, we genuinely want to come back:) PS: Ellie and Jacquie were good hosts in your absence. Cheers, Victoria & fam

Excellent accommodation. Suited us to be on the out skirts of town, fully self contained with facilities that enabled us to rest and have too. Not fancy, more homely, just what we needed!

Great value well equipped accommodation

Well equipped accommodation set in lovely countryside with all we needed for a lovely 4 day break. Nearest town only 10 minutes away by car. Rosemary met us and gave us some ideas for where to visit. A good place for visiting the wine region, caves and limestone coast.

Peace, quiet and relaxation

The property was easy to find with concise directions given by the hostess. The house was much bigger than it looked from outside, the rooms very spacious. We loved the little touches of the condiments cupboard which saved us buying things we were not going to completly use during our stay. The farm was such a relaxing place to be, we loved it and will be back (and have already recommended to other family)

Lovely farmstay in great location

Stayed here with the family on road trip from Melbourne to kangaroo island. Very comfortable house in separate block to hosts, with the lovely Ellie the horse for company. Close to the caves and easy half hour drive to Coonawarra wine region. So tranquil and relaxing and the kids were happy playing in the property and keeping Ellie company

Perfect for a relaxing getaway

Brilliant place to stay just outside of Naracoorte. The Outhouse is spacious, bright and clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and lovely peaceful surrounds. The host Rose was very friendly and helpful during our stay.

Escape to the country

A great place to stay and enjoy a unique country experience. The accommodation was beautifully nestled amongst trees in a pretty block with its own access. Birds, a horse and calves kept us entertained and being ten minutes drive from the Naracoorte caves meant further delights on our doorstep. The host Rose welcomed us on arrival and was easily contactable if needed during our stay. We had all the amenities we needed plus extras although the Vodaphone signal was poor (Telstra worked fine outside The Outhouse when it was needed). The beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was lovely! Overall we had a great stay and would definitely recommend this place for anyone wanting to experience a country get away.

Perfect little cottage!

We stayed 4 nights at The Outhouse and if I could've stayed longer I would! Rose is so easy to communicate with and the little extras she left for us were just so nice. Max the dog came to visit on one morning and our girls just loved him and whole experience away from the suburbs. If you're looking for somewhere to base yourself to explore the limestone coast, I highly recommend you consider The Outhouse for the place you rest your head. Beds are comfortable and the place was perfectly clean on arrival with a lovely outdoor dining area among the beautiful grounds. Thank you Rose, for sharing your property with us!

A peaceful stay for a small family

Rosemary was a great host. She has looked in to every detail to make an enjoyable stay. The Outhouse has got a very beautiful and quiet surroundings. We loved the birds sound in the mornings and a morning and evening walk along the dirt road. We enjoyed the bbq as well. It was a very nice and relaxing holiday. The Outhouse is a nice place to recommend to any small family.

'The Outhouse' was originally set up as a Seed Research Centre, as part of what was previously known as Wrightson's Farm (now our family home - 'Elimbah')
When we purchased the property - we renovated The Outhouse so we could live there while we renovated the main home.
We loved our time at The Outhouse, it is comfortable and quiet, and a lovely spot to relax and enjoy the surrounds.
