Horrible Stay

The location was ok. All the neighbors were very nice. The host was not easy to work with. The furniture in the duplex didn’t match the pictures. The place was not clean the walls, baseboards, and bathroom was not cleaned properly. The washing machine and dryer were I. The room with the futon bed which made it uncomfortable for my son who was sleeping in there. The host was not pleasant to deal with. I would never stay there again.

Sufficient for our needs

Upon arrival there was a strong dirty wet laundry smell in the house. It was worse where the laundry room is, we closed off that room and it was better after spraying Febreeze. The house was very basic but was sufficient for our needs of just a place to sleep and shower. The hand soap was empty, a plug was missing a cover in the twin bedroom, queen mattress doesn’t appear to be a true queen but a queen foam pad style. The pull out sofa was in the laundry room where it smelled. The twin beds didn’t really have a nice heavier blanket but a flat sheet and like small couch blankets. It was challenging to override the preset HVAC settings and keep it set at a temp we wanted. There were ants along the trash can and to the kitchen counter and some cabinets. Even had an ant in my bed one night. For paying a high cleaning fee, a little annoyed at the check out things to have to do or being told would be charged more. I do most anyway out of courtesy—but to have it required is annoying bc of that high fee. Almost all plugs don’t have a 3 prong, older. So, overall, again, it was sufficient for what we needed for our quick trip.

Horrible host!!

We checked in alright. We ask to extend our stay we were told yes. I then paid the extra days then we were charged fees that did not pertain to us. We were then told we would have to move next door to the other duplex mid stay as the host booked our room to someone else. We were then charged again for the new duplex, and more fees. Then we were told we had to leave because of our dogs even though we paid the pet fees. No one ever came to stay at the other duplex. It was clear we were being scammed out of money. The host was belligerent, and even threatened to call the police because we were not leaving fast enough. The host went so far as to lie that we stole her towels, our dogs pooped, and got dog hair under the beds. I took pictures of both places when we left to prove we did not. We were not given our deposit back at either duplex, and in fact the host is trying to get more money out of us. The place was very small, and not accommodating for six people at all. I would never recommend anyone stay there unless you are looking to be ripped off, and mistreated.

A Few Ups and a Lot of Downs

Pros The owner of this property was quick at communicating and very easy to work with. Location is convenient Check in process was very easy Cons Overall, we were disappointed. This property was very dirty and not well maintained. There was a pungent unknown smell that we thought was old cigarette smoke, not that someone was smoking recently but possibly a prior smokers home. We were very confused by the other reviews claiming cleanliness. There were stains and dirt on every wall and baseboard and a lot of light damage to the walls. The floors were very dirty to the degree that it ruined our childs socks. The bathroom was very dingy, smelled of mold and had not been cleaned. Hair and pubic hair, dirt, and the toilet area was very gross. The furniture is all stained and has stuffing coming out of the chairs. There was a full trash bag of garbatin the main kitchen garbage can when we arrived. The bedspread on the gueen bed smelled clean but was very old and dingy and had some stains on it. The bath towels need to be replaced and we had a hard time finding ones that didn't smell of mildew. There were also some safety/electrical concerns. Two outlets were missing covers and had exposed wires which was particularly concerning in the room our child stayed in as she's a toddler. The outlets are also very old and don't hold plugs. Several light switches didn't work or made the lights flicker indicating an electrical short of some kind. Lastly, the listing is a little inaccurate. Particularly the photos are outdated and don't represent the current condition. It also states there is a carport in the back in the listing which wasn't available once we checked in and had to park on the street (which was still convenient). Overall, our stay was fine but the dirt level made us uncomfortable and I couldn't recommend this property to others. This listing has a substantial cleaning fee, which we don't mind paying but it's clearly not being used to go towards cleaning. It doesn't appear this has been deeply cleaned in years. We've stayed at quite a few rentals and this was by far the worst experience from a cleanliness perspective.

Great Location!

This duplex is perfect. It is walking distance to mid-town and Overton Park and about a 5-6 min drive to Beale Street. The duplex has been updated and is modern with a fenced back yard.

Good for weekend stay

The property was clean and the location was centrally located. The "third" room wasnt really a bedroom. Its a laundry space with a couch. Overall, a good property.

Great Midtown Duplex

Perfect location. I was in town to run for the St Jude marathon and was able to work during the week and get good rest before and after. My nephew stayed the one night before the race and he was comfortable in second bedroom.

Great and safe place is Memphis.

The house was in good condition and the experience was nice and quiet. I would recommend to have some small lamps in the rooms in lieu of the overhead lights or the ceiling fans in the bedrooms.

My trip was ruined

I stay there for 3 nights. I was having trouble finding the house & called the owner. She answered & hung up after I spoke. I called 3times after that & she didn’t answer. When we walked through the door it smelled like a weird marijuana smell. We walked through the house & observed that she did not give a good description. The 3rd room was basically a back porch. Which she did not take a picture of. It also served as the laundry room because the washer & dryer was in there as well. My mom was looking for an extra blanket in the room closest to the bathroom to sleep on the let out couch with & the bed draw wouldn’t come out because it was broken. That was only night 1. Night 2 I’m trying to cook & her stove is barely working. It took me one hour to fry some of bag of chicken & it took me the whole day to cook the rest of my food.The next morning a roach was in my food. Also my mom killed some type of bug on her living room wall. She did not provide us with no cleaning supplies but a broom & dish detergent. She only provided two rolls of toilet paper for 8 people. Two days after I left she come inboxing me talking about I’m being charged $300 for crayon/paint markings on the walls, missing sheets & evidence of smoking weed. I’m active duty military so I do not smoke or did not smoke it in her house. I asked her what evidence she had & she say her neighbors wrote a statement about them smelling. Which is not evidence. She didn’t ask me any questions just straight accusing. She was very inconsiderate & got really nasty with me. She talked crap about my kids because my toddler wrote on the wall with a crayon & the floor being sticky when she didn’t even give us a mop or proper supplies to even clean a tub with. She also said she would review me bad all because I stuck up for myself & didn’t just let her charge me.
