La casa cerrada de tres dormitorios con patio trasero y ducha exterior está a unos pasos de la playa de Soufriere con arena volcánica. A 5 minutos a pie de la ciudad. Tenemos recogida en el aeropuerto y alquiler de Jeep disponibles. Hermosa vista de la mañana de los pitones. Síganos en @ thepurplecottageslu @ gmail. com

Feels like you’re a local

The Purple cottage was a fantastic stay for our family! We didn’t want some fancy pants resort. We wanted to feel like locals and experience the island for its beauty and cuisine and we got all of that staying here! The door entry was easy and made it functional for our whole family. Yes there were mosquitos, but honestly there are mosquitoes all over the island. Bring bug spray if you’re worried! Purple cottage provided plenty of citronella if you wanted to sit outside on the porch…but why would you when the beach is literally 500ft from the front door? The kitchen had everything we needed for the small meals we had during our stay. The whole town was an easy enjoyable walk from our stay so we ate out at the local spots anyway. Forget the “must have reservation places.” 3 beez and Regina was the best food around, and don’t let the hot dog stand fool you! They were to die for!!! Again, literally across the street!Nya was SUPER responsive when we couldn’t find the AC remote. She called me immediately and we had the AC running in less than 5 minutes. The kids enjoyed having the AC in the house to cool off after being out seeing the island.The best Scuba Dive shop is right in the beach 500ft from the door, and the boat tours run by the local town gave our teenagers the best experience of their lives! They are still talking about it!Our family of 5 fit comfortably in the space and we all loved our stay in Soufriere!!! We can’t wait to go back to the Purple Cottage!

Poor Quality Accommodation in a Fairly Dilapidated Area

Purple Cottage is a poorly maintained cottage, with big gaps in doors and windows, broken floor tiles and crumbling cement on the entance steps. The dryer never worked and the airer was broken. The cooker hob and shaving socket didn't work for a week until repaired. The lights and fan in the living room worked intermittently, apparently due to a faulty breaker. The king size bed was particularly uncomfortable. We could feel the springs. All this was reported to the manager, but responses were slow and occasionally non existant. Soufriere is a beautiful area with much to do. However the town is very poor and quite dilapidated. Several times we were hassled by beggars and did not feel safe, especially after dark.

Beyond Disappointed

Our experience at the Purple Cottage detracted from our trip to St. Lucia due to numerous issues compromising comfort and safety. Major gaps in doors and windows (that the host was aware of but could not fix) allowed heat, humidity, and mosquitos inside, making the home uncomfortable. Without functioning AC for the first two nights, the conditions were nearly unbearable. These gaps in the windows/doors also raised serious security concerns. The bathroom sink leaked persistently, causing water damage and mold. This caused the host-provided hairdryer to be soaked and unusable. Cleanliness was poor, with stained sheets, towels, and pillows that felt unhygienic. Communication with the host was slow, and issues like AC and the hairdryer were only partially resolved. Larger problems with security, insulation, and cleanliness remained unaddressed. Compared to similarly priced rentals in the area, this home fell far short, really hindering our time in Soufriere.

great location friendly owners

We enjoyed our stay in Soufriere. The cottage was in a great location and the caretaker was so friendly and helpful! The cottage is so close to the beach, we took advantage of water taxis to visit more secluded beaches.

Amazing Location

We loved being close to Hummingbird Beach, Sea Shells restaurant, and the main road. We appreciated the security lights, key pad at the gate, and electronic keypad at the door. There are plenty of outlets for recharging devices. We didn’t spend much time at the house; we were too busy exploring St. Lucia. This area has an incredible view of the Pitons, the volcano, and the Caribbean! The locals are helpful. Just be prepared for a few mosquitoes, some crowing roosters, and a less than cushy mattress. We definitely recommend the Purple Cottage - it felt a little more like home each day!

Great place, right by the beach

Nice 3 bedroom place, 100 feet to the best/only beach in Soufriere. A/C and WIFI worked well, and the host did a great job making sure we had everything we needed (she even bought some new toys for our baby).

Adventure

This was our first trip to the island and we decided to stay in the south so we can explore the beaches, waterfalls, and pitons. This was a perfect location to stay. The house was a good fit for our family of 4 with 2 boys. We rented the car that was offered and it was waiting for us at the airport when we landed and got through immigration at midnight. The host communicated very well with us the whole time from booking through the time there and followed up after the stay was over. If you want to explore the southern part of the island and don’t want to pay to stay in a Lux resort because you will be out and about, this is a fantastic retnal.
