An affordable island escape nestled in lush green Tropical Mountain of West Caret Bay. This is the charming West Caret Bay Hideaway. Very peaceful with Garden and small Ocean Views.
Apartment is located on the cool and lush Northwest side of St. Thomas. West Caret Bay Hideaway offers reasonable housing accommodations just for you or you and family members. Property is perfect for those individuals who value safe, clean and private surroundings away from the hustle and bustle of town, but with easy ten minutes access to the top beaches, restaurants and shopping.
A traditional West Indies architectural design apartment property located within a dense tropical forest with flowing streams Apartments features private kitchen and bathroom, tile flooring and concrete build (to keep inside cool), large outside veranda to enjoy coffee, nature and ocean views. Inside property also reflects local culture with bright colors, comfortable updated furnishings and local art.
Our properties are ecofriendly, which helps to conserve resources like water and energy. That mean’s no air condition or dish washer. Cool island Tradewinds through out the apartment. We offer extra house keeping services for an additional cost.

This lovely rural spot was perfect for my needs. I needed a quiet place to work on my art. And the needed to extend my stay. Shelley was a fantastic and very accommodating host. Well equipped and very peaceful.

Beautiful private hideaway

We were looking for something private, and away from the hectic atmosphere of resorts. This was a unique find reasonably priced and everything our family needed. Shelley was an amazing host Who communicated well with us. She lives on the property so she was able to help us with anything we needed. it was amazingly romantic, even with a child with us we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Caret Bay Hideaway - Serenity

Carey Bay Hideaway is a hidden gem in a great location on St. Thomas. If you’re looking for a place away from the tourist hustle and bustle, this is a great spot. It is fairly remote, but no 4-wheel drive is required. The location allows for easy access to lesser known restaurants/beaches that not many cruise shipper can get too. The place itself is surrounded by a jungle like setting. You will fall asleep to frogs chirping along with the gentle noise of the ocean off in the distance. This is a must book for those looking to get away.

Beautiful Setting, but Misleading Location and Poor MaintenanceLOCATION WARNING: The listing states this property is a 1-minute walk to the water. This is completely inaccurate. There is no beach or water access within walking distance; a car is mandatory. As this "core promise" was our primary reason for booking, the misrepresentation was a major disappointment.HOST INTERACTION: Shelley was excellent—kind, patient with directions, and very gracious regarding a rental car key incident. Her hospitality is the highlight of the stay.AMENITIES & CLEANLINESS: The unit requires urgent "TLC."• Cleanliness: Windowsills and screen doors had long-term build-up of dirt and insects. The kitchen sink and salt shaker were heavily rusted/neglected. • Maintenance: Several outlets are non-functional. Living room blinds are missing slats, compromising privacy. The shower caddy is broken, and the towel holder is bent and rusted. • Comfort: Providing more than two pillows would greatly improve the guest experience. • Safety: A long-reach kitchen lighter is needed for the stove to avoid burns.SUGGESTIONS: Manual: A printed guide for Wi-Fi and stove instructions is needed. • Navigation: Since GPS fails, use these coordinates: (18.365513, -64.978857). • Local Info: grocery stores, lists with restaurants, bars, different tours and taxis would be very helpful.The tropical forest setting is peaceful, but the unit needs a deep clean and an honest description to match the host's kindness.

These images show the state of the living room blinds. Several slats are missing, and the rotation mechanism is non-functional on the other set. This leaves the interior exposed to the outdoors, creating a significant lack of privacy.

The area around the base of the kitchen sink shows significant rust and accumulated grime. This appears to be long-term build-up that requires deep cleaning and perhaps resealing to prevent further decay.

Our listing notes that the apartment is located in the mountains, not near the beach, and we also mention that it is in a remote area of the island. Because of this, Google Maps often provides inaccurate directions, which is why we always ask guests to contact us before heading to the property so we can guide them directly. We also provide an electronic welcome guide through VRBO that includes the WiFi information and other helpful details for the stay. Regarding the blinds, we never close them prior to guest arrival. The apartment sits about ten feet above ground level and faces a forested area, offering a private tropical view without visibility from passersby. We appreciate your concerns and value your feedback as we continue to improve the guest experience.
