I lived on St. Thomas for 20 years. I knew what I was getting: the cheapest studio available. Even so, this rental had a lot of challenges and I would not recommend it.
The good:
1) location central island is great
2) low price
3) owner was responsive online (was not on property)
4) clean linens and comfy bed/furniture
The bad: things you would expect as a local, but not enjoy for a caribbean vacation:
1) super steep and narrow drive-way
2) listing does not provide location of the property (luckily I knew my way around)
3) wifi was SLOWWWWW
4) the view in the listing is not accurate. the "patio" looks at the driveway. you will get this view by walking down the driveway a bit, or from the studio nextdoor (which has a real patio)
5) separate rentals next this one and above - I think the whole house is rented into 3 parts
6) a septic smell in the bathroom
7) toilet/shower in one room - you will get your feet wet
8) was told by the owner that I needed by buy my own bar soap - none was provided
9) there are mosquitos inside, probably entering through the window screens. bring a swatter if you have one
