A private, funky cabin surrounded by natures beauty with the best views in town.
Nestled among mature native bush on a ridge surrounded by resident native bird life with spectacular ocean, bush & coastal cliff views sits this cool romantic hideaway. Many hours can be spent relaxing, watching the antics of the birds or taking in the views from the deck or even from bed. Or we are within a ten minute drive of three beautiful sandy beaches, a famous surf break three minutes away, several bush walks & there is lots of exploring to do around the North Coromandel including the popular Coastal Walkway. Plenty of water sports to be had, fishing, diving, kayaking or surfing on our doorstep. Tuateawa is thirty minutes north of Coromandeltown & all the attractions it has to offer. Please be aware that Coromandel is the last place to purchase goods/fuel. The top floor of the house has the small kitchen (fully equipped) lounge/dining & a queen bed where you can fall asleep gazing at the ocean & the fantastic night sky. Downstairs has bathroom/shower & a small lounge with fireplace. Ideally the house suits as a nature lovers romantic getaway but there is another queen bed in the sleepout for extras, but four adults may make things a bit cramped, therefore we encourage just one couple bookings. Tuateawa is a strict conservation area, therefore we are lucky enough to have a fantastic array of native birds. The house is situated in the treetops, so Ruru, Tui, Kereru, Korimako, Tauhau & Kaka are constantly around the house...a birdwatchers paradise! Kiwi can be heard after dusk on the ridge behind the property. There is also a short walk to a secret lagoon bordering the property, where rare Pateke ducks, eels, frogs, abundant birdlife hang out surrounded by a fantastic amphitheatre of ancient native bush There is also a small collection of some taonga, polished rock/Petrified wood within the house.
Things you should know.
The road between Coromandeltown & Tuateawa is mostly gravel & quite windy, but spectacular! Drive to the conditions. Otherwise there is an alternative route through Colville, which adds another thirty minutes to the journey, there is also a gravel section on this road. The property is not really suitable for children. The toilet is an outside composting Worm toilet attached to the house. The house is fully equipped and has a Nespresso (please bring your own capsules)as there is not a cafe close by! There is a short walk, with steps, through the bush to the house...but its worth it! Smoking outside only please. No Dogs or Cats this is a strict conservation area. Water conservation in summer is required if drought conditions are prevalent...short showers please. Please be aware this is a property to immerse yourself in nature & the surroundings, therefore there is no TV or Internet. There is a screen with an HDMI lead to plug in your device. Cell phone reception is excellent for hot spotting. NO FIRES outside please. Tuateawa has been classed at extremely high risk of bush fires and for the last few summers, we have been placed in a total fire ban.

Beautiful location and property, especially if you enjoy the native birdlife. We had a very relaxing stay away from the city. Hosts were very friendly, with excellent communication.
Our stay was magical. It was like being in a very comfortable treehouse with a spectacular view. Everything we needed was provided. We loved the quirkiness. Everything was well thought out and extremely clean and the bed was comfy with the best view of the pristine natural surroundings. Pete and Wendy were so welcoming and kind.
Surrounded by native forest and bird song, this little bach in the trees was made for nature lovers. The views of the sea were magical and the hosts are such great people, giving us lots of local information on things to do and see.

Wendi and Peter have created a perfect retreat nestled in a bit of paradise. The cabin is welcoming and comfortable, with everything you need to have a restful or adventurous time. We loved that the cottage reflected the place and the people who love it.
Beautiful, remote location with stunning views and wildlife. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. Nearby beaches are awesome. We will almost certainly be back in the future!
We really enjoyed our visit. The setting is spectacular, it would be hard to find a better view. Peter and Wendi are great hosts. The birds come right to the birdbath and are amazing.
Beautifully situated in an area where NZ wildlife surrounds you in full privacy. The views are spectacular and the surrounding beaches are amazing - Boulder Bay was great for snorkeling and it had a lovely bush walk to get to. I highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday away from their busy lives - never been more relaxed in my life ever!
The most wonderful stay in the most amazing place. Wendi and Pete are the perfect and most hospitable hosts.Everything was as described it was just heaven. Thank you
Such an amazing place and lovely hosts! The views are unbeatable! Love the closeness to nature and you can really calm down here. The only mistake was booking for two nights only, coming back to nz we will definitely come back to stay longer! Thanks for all your help!
We loved our stay here! The cabin has everything you could need for your stay. There is a short walk down to the beach nearby, with amazing rock pools at low tide.
We were visited by Tūī, kererū and heard some kākā in the area!
We had a wonderful stay. The weather was fine, the native birds were in song and the views were incredible.
Host Peter was very accommodating.
And the bed with a view was a highlight!
Highly recommended.
Ideal for people who like nature and want something a bit different.you are staying in some ones special home. We are in our 70's and we coped with the short walk.
Excellent hosts. Steep access could prove difficult for some. Stunning birdlife. Perfect example of predator control of native bush; prolific young kohekohe. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
