About Linda Oostema/ Al

I am a Registered Nurse living in one of the southern suburbs of Chicago. I have 4

children and 11 grandchildren.

Linda Oostema/ Al purchased this house in 2004

Why Linda Oostema/ Al chose New Buffalo

I have enjoyed the shores of Lake Michigan since a was a small child. It has always been a dream of mine to have a lake front property. When I turned 50, I realized that this dream was not within my budget. I started looking at homes that I could afford near the lake within an hours drive of my primary residence. This property was brought to my attention and I knew it was for me.

What makes this house unique

The property is in a residential area right off of Whittaker on Clay Street. We are 8 blocks from the New Buffalo City Beach, and walking distance to many restaurants and shops. It is a small, but comfortable home. Turn-Key property for beach lovers (includes beach chairs, umbrella, sand toys, beach towels, rolling cooler) just bring your swimsuit.

Cozy cottage perfect retreat

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage The cottage was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The time of year was perfect for a quiet beach experience and the sunsets were breathtaking. We highly recommend Rosie’s for breakfast or lunch and don’t miss dinner at The Legendary Redamaks. We traveled north along Red Arrow Hwy to St. Joseph which has a fun downtown for shopping and dining plus below the bluff is a water fountain park. Further north South Haven has a wonderful walkway out to the lighthouse and beautiful beaches. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your cozy cottage It was the perfect retreat and we will highly recommend your cottage to our friends and family.

Great Place Close to Anything You Need!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely stay at Linda and Al's place. They were very responsive and made sure we had everything we needed. The home was clean and easy to access. It was walking distance to the beach, grocery store, restaurants, and anything you would need. We also enjoyed use of the bonfire pit and grill, which were a great addition to our weekend. We would definitely recommend it to anyone.

Cozy home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have been coming to Linda's cottage for the past two summers. We used to come to New Buffalo and just stay in a hotel, but wanted something a little more like home and a place where we could cook our own meals. Both Linda and Al are extremely helpful and available when you need them. Our second year we stayed there we had a some minor issues that they resolved really quick. We stay there with our 4 young children and there is plenty of room for all 6 of us. There are two separate living rooms which we love. Our children love to stay in the living room with the toys and the VHS tapes are so facinating to them (which I get a kick out of). :) We love the short car ride to the beach and the parking pass is awesome to have!

Wonderful location-- everything you would need!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second trip to New Buffalo, and our first stay in this house. We will definitely be back! Linda and Al were very helpful with getting everything set up and booked. The house was perfect for us-- my husband and I were very comfortable in the master bedroom and our 16 month old was happy as a clam in her own bedroom too! Lots of space to hang out-- two separate living room areas were nice to utilize with our active toddler. Kitchen was well-equipped and we used the grill one night. Walking distance to the downtown/beach area-- we did that several times since the weather was so beautiful. We will definitely stay here again because the price, location, and amenities would be impossible to beat!

Great Stay as Always

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time renting this vacation home in New Buffalo, Michigan. As always, Linda and Al were great to work with. The house was clean and well equipped with anything you would need (etc. toys for the kids, many towels, kitchen utensil for cooking, spices, lawn chairs for the beach). They provide a free parking pass to the NB beach which waves the $10 parking fee. This is a great amenity.

This is an amazing value for the area and we are so grateful that they have kept their prices reasonable for famlies vacationing on a budget. The house is in a central location, less than a mile from the beach and new Buffalo's downtown area . There is a small (free) splash pad for children 5 and under just up the street. The house is locate between St. Joe's Silver Beach (25 min. North) and Michigan City (20 min. South) which has a zoo, splash pad and outlet mall.

There are many wineries close by as well. We took the South Shore Line train to downtown Chicago and the whole trip was about an hour and a half. 30 minutes to the train station and an hour to get into downtown Chicago. The neighborhood is quaint and nice, I did my daily run and felt very comfortable in the area.

Thank you Linda and Al for this wonderful opportunity!! Our four-year-old keeps telling us he misses the Michigan home. We hope to return again soon.
