Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our 3rd or 4th stay at Daisy's Den and we've been long time renters of Best of Canaan. This house was perfect for a Thanksgiving for our family of four adults. Plenty of fun for the college aged kids (hiking, video games, tv, puzzles) and we all enjoyed the hot tub. Love this house, we felt very much "at home".

Perfect Slopeside vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was clean and was perfect for our 2nd ski vacation. We loved that it was right on Salamander trail and easy to access. Only complaint is that wished the team would have done a better job shoveling snow off the backporch as there was about 3 inches of packed ice/snow that we have to carefully walk on to get on the trails/to hot tub, was also unable to use the grill since it was iced over/snow covered.

Accessing Timberline Mountain simply by skiing off the back deck was lovely. Don't ignore the recommendation for 4WD/AWD with snow tires or chains in the winter. We almost didn't make it up the hill with our AWD with regular tires in the snow, despite the road being plowed.

We were worried with snow, but our 21 Tahoe Z71 4x4 with off road tires had no trouble. House was perfect for our boys who loved snowboarding and skiing. The bunk beds were a little uncomfortable for our older teens but they still loved the trip. Would definitely stay again. Kitchen was well equiped for Christmas cooking. Hot tub was wonderful.

Great location for hiking up Salamander and across to Dolly Sods and overlooks of Valley. Artoberfest was fun and right down the hill! Lovely home with everything you need.

The cabin itself was beautiful as we made use of the hot tub and setting out back at the table. The downstairs bedroom was never cleaned or it was because the door was left open. But my bedroom was full of Dead flys and spiders. I checked every room and this was the only room that was like that. Besides the coffee pod maker and the ice maker not working. We made do with the coffee maker provided and bought ice at the store.Though we know work has to get done above us. We were woken up every morning with pounding by 7am. Even on a Sunday. We weren't expecting that.

Daisy's Den Family Reunion

Property very kid friendly and location provided easy access to Dolly Sods for the more dedicated hikers as well as easy access to Canaan Valley Resort for shorter hikes and occasional meals. Kitchen well equipped and laundry kept everyone in clean clothes over the 2 weeks.

Our family also really enjoyed the ski in/ski out aspect that this house has to offer. When not skiing, the house is stocked with games, puzzles in addition to the tv and video games in the house. We very much enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay at this house again.

Lots of fun...but

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was a great choice for my husband, our 7 children, and me. Shuffle board was a huge hit along with all the other arcade games. Skiing in and out was very easy. The kids also enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was clean and plenty of cooking utensils and even some spices were available. Now, on to the negative. The condition of the mattress in the master bedroom was horrible. It looks like a 500 lb black bear sleeps on one side of it. I kid you not. It was a task just to keep from rolling out of it in my sleep. The second night I took a large spare pillow and shoved it under the mattress to try to even it out. It helped. I expect the kid mattresses to be ******. I do not expect the master bedroom mattress to be in such poor shape. These are the people who pay for the rental. You should want them to get the best rest possible.

Amazing Ski Trip

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had an absolute blast with our family at the cabin for the weekend. Snuck in right before some snow moved in and it was perfect being right on the mountain for the snow. Kids loved the stay and had a great time learning to ski as well as their bunk bed room to sleep in. Hoping to come again in the future! For anyone looking- it is at the TOP of the mountain so I would recommend 4WD. AWD and all-season tires did not cut it.

Great Stay!

HOWEVER, if you don't have an amazing 4x4 with great tires and/or chains it probably isn't the best choice. There is VERY steep road to that property that pretty much is packed ice/snow and it really doesn't get plowed. We couldn't make it to the house with our 4x4 new Ford Expedition. But I guess if you have the right vehicle you'll be fine. But the home was amazing and perfect for us otherwise.

Daisy’s Den

Loved Daisy’s Den and its slope side conveniences !! House comfortably fits 2 couples and 4 kids. We loved the ski and boot room that kept our gear warm and dry for the next outing and we used the hot tub which was clean and ready to use! The house was exactly as described and we felt right at home.

Best access to Dolly Sods trails

The home provided all necessary amenities and then some. Host responds very quickly and had answers to all my questions. My daughter saw a black bear out the living room window the first day we were there. It is pet friendly but very clean. It stirred up my allergies a bit but nothing major. Plenty of games and things to do inside on a rainy day. Tons of options on the television. It’s more private than some of the comparable properties in the area. The lots on each side are wooded so you don’t see the neighbors. The hot tub was very clean and has a nice view of the woods and the night sky. There was also a baby fawn in the woods beside the driveway when we arrived the first day. The Dolly sods trail entrance is just up the hill from the cabin so that was the best asset for us. We really enjoyed our stay.

Time away in WV

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We spent a pleasant 4 night stay at Daisy's Den. This was a family (extended) break for us which including our dog Jackson. We came with expectations of hiking, biking, and cooler weather and Daisy's Den didn't disappoint. The accommodations were spacious, clean and welcoming to our little clan. Access to Dolly Sods was approximately .65 miles up the hill and once there we could hike to our hearts content. Blueberries were in season and very tasty surprise we all enjoyed. Everyone we dealt with at the rental office and neighborhood was pleasant and welcoming. Its a place we would definitely like to revisit.

Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed our stay at this thoughtfully appointed, comfortable home filled with arcade games, a back deck and hot tub, a deluxe foosball table, games and modern accommodations. The reasonably complete kitchen came equipped with a wine cooler and decent appliances; beds were comfortable; the modern fixtures and window treatments functioned well. The hardwood floors helped our allergy sufferers and pets stay together. Only issue was that the place was not particularly clean; the refrigerator had dirty condensation coils and was not functioning properly.

Fun and relaxing

We stayed a week and family came for the weekend. Everyone loved the cabin. It's clean and comfortable. Kitchen has everything you need. The arcade games were fun and the internet worked well. Went hiking all around the area and discovered that we could hike up the slope from Daisy's Den to a trail leading into Dolly Sods Wilderness!

Wonderful!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We very much enjoyed a spring ski trip with an unexpected 6-8” snowfall the day before we arrived! Ski in ski out was wonderful. Everything in the home was great. The House was up a steep section of road - my guest had to get chains for front tires of his front wheel drive car to get up there as the gravel road was covered in snowpack. Once it partially melted and some gravel patches showed up it was fine. So four wheel drive or snow chains needed if road is covered in snow. Our only complaint is they didn’t remove as much snow off the deck as they should have so you could safely use hot tub and grill - there was a shovel there and we did it ourselves -as we used hot tub first afternoon there and every day of our stay! When we had questions Best of Canaan was always available to answer them! Would stay here again and use Best of Canaan managed properties.
