Nelscott Anchor House - Meredith Lodging


This unique oceanfront home makes it easy to enjoy the perfect coastal stay with friends and family who love gatherings but value their private space. Three distinct units with separate living spaces—one two-bedroom, one single-bedroom, and one studio, each with its own entry from outside, kitchen or kitchenette, bathroom, TV, and gas fireplace —share a huge oceanfront deck with panoramic views, a Weber grill, and a wind-screened hot tub! Each space has its own private entrance, making this a terrific way to share a vacation with multiple families. Nelscott Anchor House has been thoughtfully updated, but retains its historic 1940’s charm, with beadboard wainscoting, tile flooring, and an enchanting beamed, vaulted ceiling. Each level has its own deck and ocean view, with stairway access to the main-level deck, and a set of stairs down the cliff-face that gives you direct beach access. The Olivia Beach access is just down the street if you prefer a wider staircase, and it’s also just a short drive to Nelscott Beach and many other Lincoln City attractions. If you enjoy privacy, but want to share coastal time with a group of friends or family, Nelscott Anchor House provides an adorably retro space and fantastic ocean views for a memorable stay in Lincoln City!

Issues with lights, electronic lock on small unit, and washing machine upon arrival. Only light issue resolved during stay by maintenance crew. Also, discovered only half of jets were operating on hot tub.

Everything was great, except half of the furniture on the pictures wasn't there (where are the recliners and the futon shown in the upper unit?). Also, please stock up on basic necessities like trash bags and toiletries.

The ocean-front location is the property’s only standout feature, but the first day was too windy to enjoy, and most outdoor furniture was deteriorated. The jacuzzi was clean and worked perfectly, and the fireplaces were cozy at night. The house’s layout resembles a multi-unit condo, with three separate spaces accessed by a rickety outdoor staircase, which caught us off guard. We typically stay at luxury properties, so this basic, old mobile home feel was unexpected—perhaps we missed those cues in the listing. There was no coffee or spices provided, so plan ahead, and several chairs and windows were in poor condition. The downstairs TV never worked, and the house, though generally clean, smelled musty with visible signs of leaks. Thin curtains did little to block lights left on all night from the house across the street, so bring an eye mask if you’re a light sleeper. Despite these issues, our family had fun by the ocean and made the most of it. If you’re looking for a large, affordable oceanfront property with separate living spaces and can overlook the actual property drawbacks, this house fits the bill.

The beach and view are excellent. The kitchens were very small and not very conducive to cooking for our whole group on the main floor. The bathrooms were tiny and difficult to use. Main floor toilet barely flushes and the door gets stuck on the floor where a big gash has been worn from it. Upstairs patio door is very difficult to open. Loft in the upstairs bedroom is filthy, not maintained, not usable. Pictures were deceptive. While I realize the house is from the 1940s, the listing said it was updated and while it clearly was to some extent, it is still quite rough. I wouldn’t have minded so much except we paid twice as much as it was worth for the quality level.

Wonderful!

We absolutely loved this place! Great location, the hot tub and view was amazing. It was the perfect spot for small multi-families and I loved all of the touches of vintage and history. A well-cared for home in a great area. We will be staying again!

We were very impressed with the place. The only problem was that we were given no bath towels. Thus it made it difficult to dry off after the shower or after being in the hot tub. I am sure that was an oversight, but it was very inconvenient.

Great place

Got there and the main entry had a dead battery. After an hour of waiting, maintenance came and fixed it. Super nice maintenance person. Customer service was friendly and helpful. Major leak from the upstairs bathroom shower to the downstairs bathroom. Place was clean and laid out nicely. Loved the 3 separate entrances. Would stay again if updated a bit and leak was fixed. Customer service was great.

Perfect for 3 Generation Gathering

The location was excellent with great ocean viewing. Some really enjoyed the stairway to the beach, and the hot tub. The kitchen(s) and all the equipment was great for a family that likes to cook. Having 3 separate living/sleeping places was helpful, and all ages found it to be very "beachy charming!"

I feel like I have responded to this message multiple times.. This is what I have written previously.. I do not want this posted for others to read publicly. This is for the managers and owners only. Good Morning, I already responded to the VRBO survey, but I don’t know how to retrieve it, so I will need to recreate it. Do you have access to the evaluation I gave about the house on VRBO? I received no response from them. Positives: The kitchen downstairs was well stocked with everything needed. The person I talked to whenever there was a problem was pleasant. The view of the ocean was nice. Here are the things we were not pleased about. 1). I asked in advance (before booking) if this house was appropriate for four over 80 men in less than perfect condition. I didn’t hear a response, but I decided to book anyway. Had we known that the house had three separate units with stairs outside, we would not have booked. Luckily, two of the people were able to manage the outdoor stairs. This was not clear from the description. 2) The bathroom in the first-floor unit was incredibly small, with very little space to turn around. Not pleasing for elderly men. 3). The television was hard to figure out. We had to call maintenance, and they came, but we were there for about 48 hours before they could get it fixed. 4). The refrigerator in one of the upstairs units didn’t work. Maintenance fixed it, but I had to call twice to get it fixed. 5). The internet went out one da

Wonderful stay

This property was very beautiful and a good cost. It was unfortunate that the hot tub is faulty and there wasnt another hot tub as listed. There was a few fixes needed and the property management was very quick to respond as well as polite. I would return to this place as well as work with this rental company again in the future. None of the fixes impeded on our stay.

Perfect for a couples weekend

The 3 seperate spaces were great. We mainly were all together in the lower apartment, kitchen and table were perfectly sized for us to cook and prep and play games. The kitchen was also equipped very well. We used the card table as our bar area which worked out well. The smaller kitchen areas were good for 2 people and the heating in each worked well. The showers were small except in the studio that had a full bath. The bed in the center apartment was very noisy but comfortable. The views are WONDERFUL and we enjoyed the hot tub! Overall we all really enjoyed our stay! Thank you!

Great location! However, it was advertised that 2 hot tubs were available, but upon arrival, only one was functional. They did do a discount for it at a later time, but we were disappointed. There was miscommunication about where keys were for locks. The outdoor picnic table has a lot of peeling paint. It does have amazing views, lots of space for 3 couples.
