Early Diggings Hut surrounded by Rainforest and verdant pasture.
Early diggings Hut is in an environment dominated by nature. The passage of time is marked by the movement of cattle, the shade and mist from the ranges, the clouds gathering and dispersing around Mt Battle Frere. A cassowary crossing the paddock regularly in late evening, the call of the chowchillas and the fresh whip call of the rifle bird in the morning and the shrieks of the cicadas on a summer afternoon, indicate the time of day. The frequency and volume of rainfall marks the seasons. Located near the Nerada Tea factory, the Mount Bartle Frere walking tracks, equidistant between Malanda and Yungaburra.
The most generous and accommodating hosts sharing an amazing property with incredible views, peaceful and beautiful natural surroundings and the most tasteful and practical accomodation - the converted dairy is a triumph of design and a joy to inhabit! Great for nature lovers, birdwatchers and anyone wanting to rest and unwind away from the rat race. Our second visit and can’t wait to stay again.

Early Diggings Hut - sublime location, exquisitely furnished, restful.
Early Diggings Hut is a superb cottage, located on a farm in Topaz, on the Atherton Tablelands.
The setting is breath taking: with green, rolling paddocks overlooking virgin rainforest (cassowary sightings are common). The cottage is beautifully furnished, with gorgeous rainforest timber tables and comfy chairs to look out the large picture windows, and the bathroom is exquisite. This is a wonderful spot to relax and unwind. The hosts (who live in the main house near the cottage) are just lovely people too.
I cannot rate this cottage highly enough. You will not be disappointed.
