The Captain’s Place - Meredith Lodging

You’ll be instantly charmed by the wood-lined coziness of the unique Captain’s Place, a handsome 1903 two-story in north Lincoln City, steps from the beach. Located only one home down from public beach access with a staircase to miles of sandy beach, this home retains nostalgic charm as it spoils you with modern luxuries, including a hot tub on the outside deck. The home’s inviting living room has leather chairs and a sofa surrounding a huge flat-screen TV and a sweet gas fireplace with a river-rock hearth. A dining table looks out paned windows to the quiet street outside, or you can dine facing the ocean on one of the decks outdoors. The fully equipped kitchen also houses a washer and dryer and a bedroom and bathroom just around the corner. Climb down a few steps to another bedroom with a king bed, bathroom, and French doors that open to the hot tub. Walk up to the two adorable bedrooms with a shared half bath, one bedroom with its own gas fireplace and the other with a private deck. You’ll love the feeling of history and the warmth of the honey-hued wood lining every wall and ceiling, courtesy of the retired Columbia Riverboat pilot who built the home at the turn of the 20th century. You’re minutes from dining, shopping, golf, hiking, and the Chinook Winds Casino but ensconced in a residential neighborhood that will make you feel right at home. Come try a stay at the Captain’s Place, and make your next trip to the coast a sweetly nostalgic adventure!

Our group of 7 had fantastic time. The hot tub cover was only challenge as it was difficult to remove and replace. Beds were very comfortable. Location is perfect with easy access to beach though some would have preferred less stairs that is not an issue with the house. We had games we brought with us but had a blast playing some in the house instead. Wished we could have stayed another day or three.

House was great & had everything we needed. It was quite cold but they had extra space heaters & blankets available. The beach view is mostly blocked from main deck but great view from top deck. We had some difficulty with the hot tub, reported to the hosts & they responded immediately. We look forward to coming back!

My wish list to make it perfect. I think you could put a tv in each bedroom. Stairs to connect the decks on the outside, completing fence the grassy area for dog safety, and most of all cut the one branch blocking the ocean view from the top deck.

Our stay at Captains Cabin was our family reunion for the summer. We put a lot of thought selecting from all the choices on VRBO. It was cute and cozy with enough beds and bathrooms. The location was quiet and convenient but did not make up for the smell, dirt, dust and problems we had. The smell in the downstairs bedrooms was unbearable. We kept all the windows open to help air it out. It needs a thorough cleaning and air purification units to keep the mildew smell out. The carpeting should be replaced it was filthy. Not a single corner was properly cleaned—dust/dirt/ grime was everywhere. One bathroom sink wasn’t draining. Kitchen cupboard had something spilled in it—maybe honey or syrup. The furniture on upper deck was broken— couldn’t use. The side porch storm door did not shut and the screen was ripped apart giving it an abandoned look. I would not recommend this place especially for the high cost. Owners should check on the management of this place. Not impressed.

I've sent your notes regarding the odor, carpet cleanliness, and kitchen cupboard to the housekeeping team so they can plan prompt remedies. Maintenance will clear the slow drain, repair or replace the upper-deck furniture, and fix the storm door and torn screen. Thank you again for the detailed feedback — it’s helping us prioritize important repairs.

Family get together

Place was perfect for a quick family get together. Close to the beach and to town and great family space to gather in evenings. Kitchen was well stocked, bedrooms were good size and place was very clean. Would gladly stay again!

Perfect family vacation

Our family of 5 stayed in this home and will definitely stay here again. It was a spacious home with everything we needed to be comfortable. We loved having the hot tub after a day on the beach and the location was amazing! Thank you for a great week!

Wonderful place... we loved the Captain's Place!

This property was just like the photos and the description but better. The property was clean and very cozy. We really loved the historical component of the property and the tasteful updates to it. Great location... would highly recommend the place to family and friends. We look forward to our next stay there!

Cosy place to gather

Very sweet, cosy, comfortable house. The beds were super, the kitchen well stocked, and we enjoyed feeling like we were tucked into a beautiful captain’s retreat. Great location. Close to everything, but down off the main drag so we were out of the mouse and traffic. Really enjoyed our stay.,

So Incredibly Awesome

Came to stay for my mom's 79th birthday. Family from Idaho, Nevada And Wyoming came. The house was just perfect for the 7 of us. Loved every minute! What an amazing place! Clean, cozy and in the perfect location. We will be back!

Loved the location and the cabin was great!

We LOVED how close the cabin was to the beach- just past one house and down the stairs! We could easily come and go to the beach first and last thing each day and anytime in between our excursions around the coast. Low tide was especially fun to explore. The bedrooms in this cabin worked out perfectly for the 7 of us. Loved listening to the ocean out on the upper patio. The property manager was very responsive and great. Look forward to our next visit!!
