Very clean, comfortable beds & sofas, convenient laundry, complete kitchen.Bob & Heather are great hosts- clear communication, prompt replies, and helpful information. We would rent from them again! Thanks!
Our family had a wonderful stay!!! This home had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the Bar Harbor area!
Quiet location a short distance from Bar Harbor and the park entrances. The house had everything we needed, and was perfect for two retired couples exploring the area.
The location and house was great for our family of 6. Each of our kids had their own bed, which they will always be happy about. Getting to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor was quick and easy. Visiting the west side of the island was also quicker than being in Bar Harbor. The house had everything we needed. We had a great trip!
Great location. The property managers were excellent. We weathered Hurricane Lee here and Bill made sure we were safe and had the essentials. Wonderful trip!
We had such a wonderful week. The cabin decor is lovely and the home is relaxing. It’s in a quiet spot but close to everything. We loved having a washer and dryer. The beds are comfortable and the owners have thought of everything a renter could need. Besides Bar Harbor and Acadia, we loved the quaint spots like Winter Harbor, Corea, Southwest Harbor and Somesville. The Wendell Gilley Museum is so neat and well worth a visit to see his amazing hand carved birds. Pirate’s Cove was fun and the area has so many great restaurants. Thank you for a lovely vacation spot!
My family and I had a wonderful vacation at the hobo chalet. The location was great, just a short drive to Main Street in Bar Harbor. The house was very clean and everything was very comfortable. The decor was beautiful and we lovedwthe pictures throughout the house.
This home is very clean, well cared for, stylish and has all the furnishings needed. It has small touches like soaps, cable and internet access and items that make traveling more comfortable. We enjoyed being close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. We highly recommend this property.
This house was perfect for our Acadia vacation. We traveled with another family, and we both agreed the property exceeded our expectations. The house was clean and very well stocked. It was also in the perfect location for our excursions all over the island...nothing was too far away. We were very sad to leave and would love to stay there again!
This was the best VRBO stay that we have ever had. Everything from the home, to the amenities, down to the linens and kitchen utensils was perfect. Location could not have been better, it was secluded and quiet, yet an easy trip to either Ellsworth or Bar Harbor. We had a fantastic time and would recommend this location to anyone planning on visiting Bar Harbor, Maine
Outstanding property tucket away in the woods on a well maintained lot with a nice finished deck. The inside was decorated nicely and well maintained. It had all the necessary items for a 10 day vacation a short distance from Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. It was was easy working with the host on this property and would highly recommend this property to others.
This is one of the nicest VRBO’s we have been to. It was very clean and well kept. The kitchen was well equipped allowing us to make most of our meals right there. They also had things you don’t think of bringing or can’t bring when flying like dish detergent, salt, pepper, etc. Many VRBO’s don’t have these things. Owners were very good to work with. I highly recommend this VRBO for any family looking for a place to stay near Acadia!
We had 6 adults visiting Acadia NP. The chalet was conveniently located to Bar Harbor and the park but away from the crowds. Very comfortably furnished with loads of extras ( think kitchen staples, paper products, basic toiletries). All the equipment for experiencing a lobster dinner! A great place to stay!
This is a beautiful, well stocked chalet with new construction and great attention to detail. The beds are comfortable. We had a wonderful time. It is a little remote, but just a short drive to anywhere Bar Harbor. Thankyou for sharing your abode!
This place is truly a gem! Very upscale and convenient location are the best attributes. Literally 5 minutes to the entrance of Acaida and maybe a 10 minute drive to downtown. The deck is immense and very relaxing. The yard is plenty large for the kiddos to trow a frisbee and enjoy other outdoor activities. The kitchen is very well stocked and literally had anything you may need. The owners are very easy to communicate and were very attentive anytime we had a question. The location of this hidden gem keeps coming back to mind as it was literally 1/10th of a mile off route 3 but felt secluded and serene. If you are looking for a home in Bar Harbor that is EXACTLY as listed, then look no further. You will not be disappointed and we look forward to renting this home again in the near future.

About the host
Hosted by Robert Overly
Bob & Heather from Phoenix Arizona have 6 children and 11 grandchildren. Bob is a small business owner and Heather is a physical therapist for more than 41 years. Our favorite past time is coming to Maine, hiking Acadia Park, exploring the Coast, and relaxing (and working!) on our cozy getaway home!
Why they chose this property
The HOBO Chalet is nestled toward to back of our property for a cozy feeling surrounded on 3 sides by beautiful woods and a grassy play/relaxation area. The large front Chalet windows in front provide an open feeling with natural light and a beautiful front deck to enjoy the beauty Bar Harbor has to offer. This home is in a wonderful location, as guests can easily access all 5 harbors on the Island, Acadia Park entrance less than 5 miles away, 2 wineries within walking distance, nearby Pirate's Cove Miniature Golf for adults and kids alike. We are located only 6 miles from downtown Bar Harbor (a convenient Island Shuttle stops at the neighboring motel every 15 minutes), and if you desire to venture off the Island, we are 3 miles from other stores and restaurants, scenic drives or highways to historic sites, quaint New England towns, and coastal adventures both North and South.
