Cozy condo for a Kona stay

We had a great time along the Kona coast using this homey little condo as our homebase. Check in was easy, the property was lovely and the wonderful salt water pool by the ocean meant that even on days we were taking it easy we still had a taste of the beach. We would absolutely stay here again.

Beautiful property with great pools and easy parking.

We had a great stay here. Plenty of parking, amazing pools, great private beach area for watching sunsets. This was a really good value as well. Property was quiet and clean. Included all the needed amenities and accessories for a nice stay.

Nice view and resort

Very clean unit, great view, good WiFi nice local people on property nice pools and sunset . Steps if you’re not on the ground floor, parking limited inside security gate, water shut offs sometimes on ThursdaysOcean waves heard while you sleep.

Wonderful Stay!!

This place is great!! It was so nice to sit out on the beach, and listen to the waves crashing. It was also amazing to be able to cool off in the salt water pool!! The condo was clean, and really nice. The bed was comfy, and there was air conditioning, which was amazing after a hot day of golf. I would definitely stay here again when visiting the Big Island!!

Quiet and Quaint

Casa De Emdeko is an older set of condos, but are nicely set off of the main road, Alii Drive. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The landscaping is beautiful and well maintained. The ocean, beach area and saltwater pool are gorgeous. Even though the unit is older and not updated, it's very comfortable with a lovely view and even the bedroom has a nice view.

Awesome sunset view

The condo was awesome. They thought of everything. The unit was close enough to hear the ocean at night and watch amazing sunsets from the lanai. You are centrally located to everything in Kona.

All good until check out day

The cleaning crew walked into our unit at 8 AM on checkout day (checkout was 11 AM).

Great location

Had a great stay at this location! My only complaint is absolutely no water pressure in the shower. I know there are signs around the property about water shutoff but that part was kind of miserable. We all ended up showering at the pool which was inconvenient but the only way we could. Saw a lot of whales from the balcony!

Aloha Kailahl, Mahalo for your review! It's so awesome that you saw whales from the unit, such majestic creatures! Water shut-offs are quite common at Casa, and needed in order to keep all the plumbing lines operating properly. Unfortunately, there has been a constant issue with sand from shower drains clogging the main lines so they have to clean them out weekly. In the future, we'd be happy to assist in finding you a condo at an alternate location! Mahalo for staying with us!

Great place and great views (stairs though)

Really enjoyed our stay, nice view on lanai. Very quiet resort. Minor issues though some might want to know about before they book, water is shut off once a week for maintenace/repairs, ocean waves audible in room all night, must traverse steps at this second floor unit to and from unit to get to/from elevator. For now mobility not an issue for us. First floor units have no steps to worry about but no views because of bushes. Would stay again and bring ear plugs.

Very nice unit and facility

We really liked the unit. Lots of room and most everything we needed for our week long stay. We loved the views from the lanai , especially during sundown. The unit was not as clean as we would have liked, and we had some issues with bugs in the room. Also of note was that the 2 chairs in the living are could use some cleaning/repair. Parking was a real pain as there are not enough spaces inside the gates so we often ended up parking outside the secured area. Both pools were open and were great as were the barbecue grills.

Clean and easy to check in, but...

The condo was clean and serviceable. The property is aged, but maintained. We were without water on three separate days and without A/C for just over a day. The reason this property won out over others when we booked was the fact that it had A/C and laundry machines in the unit. The water pressure in the shower felt like a slow drip off of a leaf. We won't be staying again.

Mahalo for taking the time to leave a review on your stay with us. Unfortunately situations like this arise without notice. We apologize that there were multiple water shut offs, it seems that one of the main water heater lines for the complex is compromised and needs to be dug up for repair. The site manager is working alongside the plumbers to have this resolved as quickly as our resources allow. Most times with shut offs, the shower pressures are affected and just need to be run for a few minutes to purge the lines of any air gaps but I'll send a tech over to assess the shower head just in case.

Great view , quiet but lots of steps

This is a great place for us as we have now issues with going up and down steps. Beautiful place, friendly residents, unit very nice. The resort is over 50 years old now and we lost water for 3 days off and on for repairs. We had to time showers and dishwasher. Security lights are bright at night and illuminate bedroom quite a bit. It would be nice if better light blocking blinds were updated in the bedroom. Would stray again.

Aloha Richard, Mahalo for taking the time to leave us a review on your stay in Casa de Emdeko 216! Casa de Emdeko, like many other complexes in Kona, were built between the 70's - 80's. Casa was actually built in 1969! (wow!) So with that comes a lot of unforeseen maintenance issues like the complex water heater dying out. I apologize the repair took so many days to complete. I'll share your report about the outside lights with the site manager, perhaps they could look into a softer yellow lighting rather than LED's. Really hard not to give this place 5 stars!

Everything about this place was amazing! Location, cleanliness, quiet and beautiful. There were just a few issues specific to our stay that made it less than perfect. The salt pool was closed for the first half of our stay. Which is certainly one of the high points of the location. Absolutely loved it once it was open again! There were some water issues, but management properly notified us. Our shower was out during the construction and afterwards we didn’t have any water flow for the rest of the trip. My fiancé ended up cleaning and replacing the shower head himself. Otherwise it was an idyllic stay! Super clean! Remote enough to have privacy but close enough to get to town easily. Would give it 4.8 stars if I could!

Great view, mostly quiet, older property but lots of steps

Really like this unit. Very clean nice furnishings and kitchen , firm King mattress. Nice sunsets from the sea wall (in May sunset happens behind north bldg from lanai so not visible). Nice Ocean views before noon and after sunset when sun not directly on the lanai (it gets hot). Good wifi. Very friendly small group of long term residents. Lots of beach gear: boogie boards, chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, beach toys.... Things to be aware of. You have to traverse steps to take luggage and groceries up to unit. Ground floor units much better for those who have mobility issues (few have a view though in this complex). You can hear the surf all night as you are close to the water. The bedroom blinds still allow quite a bit of light (property walkway lighting) into the bedroom if you need dark to sleep. Parking inside security fence fills up by 5:00 pm most days. You can park outside the fence as well but just not as secure. Felt pretty safe here and plan to stay again.

There are stairs!

The stairs were an issue despite what we were told. I read the reviews about the stairs, before booking and it warned us. However, it was not real clear. The description and the Representative on the phone made it seem like it was minimal and there was an elevator. We were told there were like only 4 stairs. Unfortunately, it was an issue! There are 7 stairs leading from the parking lot to the check in area. Then the 2nd & 3rd floor have multiple landings with 4 steps each. The elevator does not bypass those multiple landings so, you will have steps to navigate. And in some cases, it was actually easier to take the stairwell and take the inclined sidewalk to our car. This may not seem like a big deal for some people. However, carrying luggage, groceries, beach gear or just getting to the car, can be difficult if you have mobility issues. My husband and I did have minor mobility issues and dreaded navigating the steps that were scattered all over the property. We were also right next to a unit that was being renovated so, there was no peace and relaxation. We were disappointed with these two issues. Otherwise, it would have been a nice place to stay.

Loved staying at Casa de Emdeko! Beautiful view of the water and sunsets. Fantastic property - beautiful gardens in the courtyard and an amazing salt water pool at the ocean's edge. Quiet location, but easy to get to downtown. We would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful Location!

Perfect location for our travels around the Big Island. This condo was very clean and well stocked including the available beach equipment (beach chairs, umbrella and cooler.) The pool areas could use a little updating, otherwise perfect!
