Moon River Ridge

This 3200 sq. ft. log cabin is situated on a secluded inlet overlooking the Moon River offering ultimate privacy, minutes from Bala .

The 6-acre property directly connects with some of the best trail systems in the region. A short paddle away are the magical Bala Chutes, a great place for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing or motorized water sports.

In the winter it presentes itself to fabulous snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing, taboganning/tubing or snowmobiling .

The space
Newly renovated, this spacious cabin comfortably sleeps 14. With wrap around balconies, 4 burner BBQ, outdoor dining area's, Muskoka/Adirondack chairs overlooking the waterfront and surrounding views with plenty of entertaining space.
The open concept great room with gas fireplace, vaulted ceilings and large A-frame windows provide a breath-taking vantage point of the wilderness and waterfront. The kitchen with double door stainless refrigerator, 5 burner ceramic cooktop, convection oven, microwave and cabinetry, is fully stocked with dishes and utensils. Inspired inner chefs are in for a special treat with 9ft coffered wood beam ceilings, a 13ft wrap around stone island and 8 stools to keep you engaged while creating your masterpieces.

The main floor master bedroom with queen-sized bed, walk-in closet boasts a 4-piece ensuite complete with a stand-up shower and a claw-foot soaker tub. The main floor laundry room has full sized washer/dryer, laundry sink, first-aid kit and shelves fully stocked with fresh linens/towels, cleaning supplies and toiletries.
Second Floor

The vaulted games/living area has a comfortable couch, 2 bean bag chairs & 65-inch TV, Wifi, Bell satellite, net-flix, prime and disney+ for those rainy days. The shelves are filled with board games, perfect for evening entertainment. To the left, there is a sliding barn door opening to a bunk room with 4 queen sized bunk beds. To the Right there are 2 full 3-piece bathrooms with walk-in glass showers and 2 additional bedrooms both with Queen sized beds.

Outdoor Activities

Outside cottagers are welcome to explore the property and trails and have full use of the dock, the floating dock, 2 fire pits, log seating and non motorized water toys (2 paddleboard, 2 canoes, 2 kayak's) at their leisure. And don’t forget to be safe with the 8 adult lifejackets and water safety kits when enjoying your stay!

During the winter months snowshoes, Tobogans and snow tubes are available for immediate outdoor fun!

All wheel-drive & snow tires are recommended for winter access

Stunning trip

The property is stunning, and great for a group of friends to enjoy and explore Muskoka. The house is spacious and well equipped. The setting on the lake is beautiful and fun to explore on kayaks. Communication was clear and efficient, and made check in and our stay a breeze.

A fabulous log cabin

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the beautiful and well kept river view cottage. The space was perfect for our large group. I loved that all the bedrooms had their own bathroom. The communication with the property manager was excellent, he was available at all times for anything I needed. Thank you for a great week spent with family.

Family holiday

15 of us gather in Moon River Ridge for a week! We had a wonderful time and there was plenty of room for al without feeling cramped. The house was well stocked with amenities. The men enjoyed fishing and the older kids did all the sports activities on the water. In short we loved it!!

Moon River Lodge

The property was very impressive, large and open with high end kitchen and bathrooms. Nice grand room on main floor with lots of windows and fireplace. Extra sitting room up in loft to watch TV, streaming or satellite, with many board game options. Property is large and private, very remote, with access to the river and room to explore. The driveway in winter can be a challenging, steep drive, but we were fine with an SUV and winter tires. The road snow clearing service was also very prompt and attentive. All in all, a very nice property for a family of four to get away.

Robin, it was great hosting you, yes the hill is great for tobogganing, driving certainly can be precariuos, we have a new way in now, no more steep hill but you still need snow tires in Muskoka :)

Great location and property

We had a great time at the cottage. It was as described, very spacious and clean when we arrived. The amenities were also great and had everything we wanted. We spent a lot of time in the water with the canoes and kayaks, and it's great for kids as the water is quite shallow where the cottage is, until you get pretty far out in the lake. Overall we really enjoyed the stay!

Incredible winter getaway

My husband and two daughters stayed at this absolutely beautiful and picture perfect property for a long weekend. It was even more beautiful in real life than the pictures. It is so spacious with activities to do both inside and out. The hosts have really thought of everything and are so great at communication in case you have any questions or concerns. We can not wait to go back! Highly recommend.

Winter weekend stay

We had a lovely long weekend with friends and the property was amazing! The owner was great to communicate with & always prompt responses. Everything was clean and comfortable space for all, the large fireplace was great. We had lots of snow & excellent tobogganing! Would come back again for sure.

AMAZING

My family celebrated Thanksgiving at this beautiful location. The home was as advertised and Mother Nature provided us with some spectacular scenery. There were 12 of us with plenty of room for all plus enough extra space to get away if you needed a break.Thanks for a very memorable weekend!

Awesome vacation

Our family had a great time. The property is nested in a very private area. We had a great time hiking, canoeing, fishing (caught bass off the swimming platform). Good communication with owner. Had everything we needed. Place is clean, as described.

Beautiful get away

Moon River ridge cottage is a fantastic place to stay. The rooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable, and the kitchen is large. Having access to the canoes and kayaks was fantastic allowing us to explore the beautiful lake. There are plenty of board games provided (For those rainy days) , great place for family and friends, and the view of the river/lake is so peaceful.

Family Vacation

Beautiful cottage. Has everything we needed. Tons of space for a large family/ 2 family’s. Great areas for cliff jumping. Highly recommend.

Great place, with great friends

What a terrific week! This is a great place to spend time together with friends! 3 families all lived comfortably with ample space to be together as well as have our own separate spaces. The cottage facilities were very good- comfortable sleeping, clean bathrooms, well equipped kitchen. The furnishings were all very comfortable and suited our large group. The outdoor spaces were also very nice, the Muskoka environment is hard to beat! The wrap around deck, patio furniture, bbq and two firepits made life outside great. The only area that was a bit less then desired was the waterfront. Off the dock the water is not really useable for swimming. There's lots of lily pads and very little moving water. The dock itself and chairs are great. Also the canoe, kayak and paddle board were perfect. So for future guests we recommend taking a paddle over to the swimming platform, and enjoy the water from there. We all loved swimming in the water there, it was very nice. Overall we had a wonderful 7 day vacation. Thanks to our host who is very organized, responsive and thoughtful to the needs of the guests.

Great stay

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We were a group of 14 and one lucky dog. The property was spacious, secluded and very private and the cottage was beautiful and large enough so we could all be very comfortable outside or within. The hill from the river got all our muscles working but was a highlight for our grandson and Dino the dog. Families with very young children would find this quite challenging I suspect. Our weather was very close to perfect with only 2 hours of rain so we were completely happy to spend our days splashing around the 2nd dock or exploring the trails near the cottage or the waterways on the canoes and kayaks provided. The week prior to our arrival it had rained a lot so the owners had worked hard to fix the washed out areas on the driveway leading into the cottage - this was much appreciated but I was still happy to be driving a 4 wheel drive Jeep. Overall our stay was filled with pleasant, fun filled memories made possible by this beautiful place and would recommend staying here for sure.

Relaxing Stay, Lovely Property.

We had a great time, plenty to do, place is large enough to spread out and have your own quiet time. Access to the cottage is a bit challenging and walk to the lake and back is not for older people. Everybody had a good time!

Great spot for a summer getaway

Property was well attended - equipped with basically everything you need for a cottage holiday. We enjoyed the kayak, canoe, swimming and the outdoor fire. Road to get to the property wasn’t easy to navigate when we first arrived (however that was also during downpour!). Host’s map was easy to follow (Google Map takes you to a different location altogether). Location of the property is inside an inlet of the River and the dock is in a very shallow part. We always paddled the kids in canoes to get to the swim platform (otherwise the water right by the dock is shallow and is full of Lily Pads).

Great for family/friend weekend getaway

Our group had a wonderful weekend at the cottage - very spacious, neat and well accommodated amenities in the cottage allow for a cozy time spent. Close enough to Bala and Port Carling for a quick place to eat out or explore. Very good communication with the owner from start to finish. Definitely recommend!

A wonderful escape!

My family had a wonderful time at this cottage. It was in a beautiful location and the cottage itself had everything we could ask for! The hosts were very easy to contact and were very accommodating! We really enjoyed using the canoes and kayaks. We would recommend this place for anyone who wants to go away with their families!

Host doesn’t know the status of his own property

The rental process to start was good, as is with any VRBO listing. The cottage looks nice in photos but don’t be mistaken, it’s not worth the price by any stretch. Property is nothing you cannot find elsewhere, water quality In the home was terrible, it lists there is a filtration system but the water throughout the house says otherwise. There was not enough hot water daily for 4 guests Having less than 4 minute showers, not counting kids...everyone was only able to bathe once for 4 days. We did not want to say anything much complaint wise at the early part of our stay as we are unsure of the community and do not know property owners/renters so you never know what can happen , nor is it fare for us to stay on our phones for the weekend with complaints to the host when we were trying to have a nice relaxing and unwinding weekend especially with the times we are in during lockdown/COVID 19. List of not working home features and amenities not there/working. For a family with children these are even more important and the host has no intent of making amends as he brushed off everything we informed him of. Kettle was so dirty and crusted with hard water it didn’t even open, dishwasher completely broken, does not clean or wash therefore dishes were all dirty upon arrival and covid 19 safety protocols were compromised as dishes in the cupboard were wet and still had food grime on them. Fireplace didn’t work at all, owner claimed he had it fixed weeks ago, this is a key feature as it was cold the first two days/nights. There were a couple cockroaches which are not usual in any cottage, even in the wilderness. Other bugs are understandable as it is an outdoor

Anthony, we're sorry you didn't enjoy your experience. I am available 24/7 and you didn't contact me at any time except the first night "Hey amazing place man" The fireplace has a pilot light that was out, I'm sorry you were unable figure it out... We've had groups of 14, and have 3 1/2 baths with laundry and dishwasher. I'm a little surprised 4 people can't shower for 4 mins a peice... Yes, we are on a well and yes it is hard water, something I can't change, trust me I've tried, metal gets a white film. The dishwasher, works fine, again sorry you didn't know how to turn it on - but again I'm available 24/7 and am happy to troubleshoot any issues anyone has. Anthony, you asked about a late checkout when you booked and I explained it wasn't possible due to back to back turnover's and let's be honest this is where it began, you decided to leave at your leisure (that's not acceptable or fair) cleaners sat in their cars for over an hour it wasn't 10, 20, 30 mins late... you were charged for this because I was charged for this. Then suddenly issues began arising. Issues no other guest has experienced. We refunded those extra charges back to you as a courtesy, but you must learn it's not all about you there's other guests - your actions affect everyone down the line - you are no more or less important than the next guest.
