Royal Straight Cabin

Located in the Terry Peak area. Just minutes away from skiing, trails, Lead/Deadwood areas and is centrally located to many attractions to explore. Very secluded cabin with unobstructed amazing views of the Black Hills National Forest. Large Rear Deck for entertaining. Lower level has walkout to Hot Tub and Gas Fire Pit. Perfect for anytime of the year! Come relax and enjoy!

Royal Straight is tucked away at the bottom of Eagle Trail in the Terry Peak Subdivision—a quiet, private oasis at the end of the road. Surrounded by peaceful hills and trees, this home offers a serene retreat with beautiful views in every season. The deck offers another option for dining and a sitting area with a fire pit to take in the views.
Enter into the spacious great room, where large windows showcase the scenic landscape. This open-concept area includes the kitchen, dining space, and living room centered around a cozy wood-burning fireplace. From both the kitchen and living room, you can step out onto the expansive deck to enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Just off the great room, a small hallway leads to the first two bedrooms and a full bathroom featuring a walk-in shower.
The upper level includes two additional bedrooms and another full bathroom with a tub/shower combo.
The lower level hosts the final two bedrooms and a third bathroom with a walk-in shower. This level also features a comfortable family room, a bar area, access to the hot tub, and the laundry/utility room.

Located in the Terry Peak subdivision. Minutes from skiing during the ski season. Royal Straight is located at the end of a private road.

It is strongly recommended to use a 4-wheel drive vehicle due to the condition of roads in the development. We are not liable for any inconvenience caused by guests using an unsuitable vehicle, especially during winter or snowy months.

This area frequently experiences snowfall, which can make driving conditions challenging at times. The Terry Peak subdivision requires all vehicles to have all-wheel drive or four-wheel drive for safe access.

If you choose to drive a vehicle that does not meet these requirements, we cannot be held responsible for any difficulty you may have getting around the area.

Your safety and comfort are important to us—please plan accordingly and ensure your vehicle is suitable for winter mountain conditions.

The cabin was very clean with several great amenities like the hot tub and the grill. All of the rooms were nicely kept and everything worked great.

We had a wonderful stay at Royal Straight! They had Legos and toys for the kids which was really great! House was stocked with plenty of towels and everything we needed for cooking. The back porch was great for looking out for a beautiful view. Beds were comfy!

Great stay!

The location was near to many great restaurants and Deadwood and Lead, but was still private. There was nice separation between the basement and the other two levels so the older kids could hang out and have their own space at times.

Truly enjoyed staying at the Royal Straight. There were plenty of beds. The couches were very comfortable. There were many that took advantage of the hot tub. All of our meals were prepared on site. The site was short some dinner forks and spoons. Overall it worked very well for our family.

Great property overlooking a valley and separated from other homes. Great amenities with the owner accessible, if needed. Liked the 3 levels with bedrooms/bath on each level. Well stocked kitchen.

Rustic Getaway

We enjoyed this stay so much. This cabin was very roomy for our group of 10. It had everything we needed, including a fully stocked kitchen. The deck was a hot spot for our group. We enjoyed the view of the mountains and watching the deer wander by. The lower deck has a hot tub, which was also enjoyed by our group.

Christmas vacation

Had a wonderful time in SD for a family vacation. Loved that there were 6 bedrooms and ample space for everyone to sleep. The main living area is well laid out and was our main hangout area. The hot tub and deck are also great areas for people to hang out in. We enjoyed being at the far end of the development as we had a larger group and it can be noisy. Great experience and would love to come back in the summer when we don’t have to cut our trip short due to a blizzard!

Ski Trip

We were all very impressed with how clean the property was along with the items available for us to use. Any spice or pan we needed was available. The hosts went out their way to ensure there was enough trash bags and to make sure things were going good. All of the instructions were very well laid out and there was lots to do around the area. Overall we were very happy with our stay

Pros:The space — plenty of room for a big family The location — next to Terry Peak. We saw deer right out in the back yard.Well equipped — Good kitchen to cook and had all the kitchen utensils you need.The Hot Tub — clean and so relaxing! Additional: The hosts found my SIL wedding ring when she forgot it after checkout. Great customer service!Cons:The table only has seating for ten people — which was hard for a bigger family during the winter when outdoor space is not usable.The house is very functional, but there is some wear and tear. The tubs are scratched. The kitchen counters are worn. The kitchen utensils are all plastic. Not “high end” — but works for a family that just wants to spend time together.We loved our stay and we hope to come back!

Tissue, specifically toilet paper, is on short supply.

It’s essential to know the essentials when renting a VRBO. Never was I told we’d have a short supply of toilet tissue, trash bags, or Kleenex tissue. When there’s 16 people present for five days and fines for not placing all trash in a bag, this is essential information. The cabin was nice and otherwise accommodating, as well as the view and location. However, we left a day early due to Covid issues; no refund. Disappointing.

Sorry to hear you ran low on supplies. I wish you would have notified us. We have extra supplies on site if needed. We haven't had a situation like this prior. Regarding trash, if trash is not bagged correctly, the garbage will not be picked up and we are then charged for that service company to return. I'm sorry on the no refund policy. That policy is clearly defined at time of booking. I'm sorry you were disappointed. As our reviews show, this is not the normal experience.

Fantastic place in the mountains by Terry Peak

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It's not the easiest place to find the first time, so plan to arrive during daylight hours, and AWD or 4WD isn't a bad idea as it's at the bottom of a pretty good hill. But that's actually an advantage. Being at the bottom of the hill, when we went out of the deck, all we could see was nature, not other houses. It's an easy drive into Lead or Deadwood, and close to the highways that will take you to Mount Rushmore and Custer State Park. We were able to get to everything we wanted to do pretty easily. There were some maintenance problems during our stay, but John, the host, had everything taken care of within a day. He was incredibly responsive and great with follow up. We would absolutely stay here again.

Mountain Respite

This was a great place to stay while in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We had some family members staying in the town of Deadwood and so we would meet up in the mornings. It is a little bit of a drive, but worth it. You are up by the ski resort and this home is at the end of a road, with nothing but trees behind you. It was a great place to be at the end of a long day. We wished we hadn't had so many other things planned and that we could have just spent a day or two hanging out at this cabin. Check in was easy. The place was clean and had most everything we needed. The only thing that we had a concern with was when we first pulled up - it didn't look like the pic we had seen when we rented it. The picture was taken from the other side of the cabin and so we weren't sure we were at the right place. I think it has also been recently painted or stained a darker color on the outside. It was beautiful and accommodated our big family group. (12 of us) We all said we would stay again!

Family get away

We enjoyed our stay here. Very well stocked kitchen with crock pots, blender, cake pans and just about anything you need. Was nice to see booster seat, kids silverware and dishes. They also had a pack and play, even though we brought our own. House is down a large hill with all gravel roads leading into the property. Not a lot of flat area for younger kids to run around and play. Hot tub was wonderful and we enjoyed sitting out there and having a few drinks. Overall I would say it is a nice place for a vacation away from home.

Don't miss your chance to relax!

This cabin was perfect for our family. We ranged 4 generations including ages 1-80 years old. This cabin was clean and super comfortable! The huge dining table was great for sharing meals together. The deck, hot tub and fire table were perfect amenities! Jon was amazing to work with, great communication and so friendly!
