The location of this property could not be better, especially if you have children. Being right on the ocean, and also having a pool, made each day enjoyable and easier than having to pack up lunch, cooler etc. If I could offer up advice to anyone booking this home, it would be to carefully read the list of things that are included. You will need to bring your own toilet paper and paper, products, dish soap, and dishwasher tablets, hand soap, and all bath items. As long as you know that in advance, and are not surprised that basic staples are not included, it will be less frustrating. We had a great time!

Excellent house! Check in was very easy. The house was immaculate and kitchen was the best stocked and equiped kitchen we've ever had on vacation. Being a family of 14 with 6 of the 14 being children, the space was perfect. The kids loved the game room.

The house is as pictured on website, spacious, beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. The owner was very helpful and immediately responsive. The kitchen was very well equipped. And of course the beach was beautiful to look at (so many lovely views from the ample decks) and even better to enjoy time together as a family in the sun and waves.

Amazing experience, amazing views, amazing location

We had a great stay at Oceans 86...so much so we booked again for next year before we even left! Fully-stocked kitchen. Highly recommended for anyone coming from the north (VA, DC, MD, PA, NY, NJ, OH, etc) as this Southern Shores location saves you bunches of travel time due to how close it is to the bridge to the OBX.

Beautiful home on the Southern Shores

This is a beautiful and spacious home with easy access, great parking and nice layout. We had a multi-family vacation with plenty of room to gather, eat, relax, and sleep. There's very well appointed kitchen with new appliances, the hot tub and pool were delightful, and the ocean access is perfect. Thanks for a memorable week!

Best Family Vacation

This was our 4th annual multi generational vacation. It was voted the BEST yet. Beautiful home, lovely setting. House was clean and the hosts were great to work with. No problems whatsoever. Even the weather cooperated.

Beach Vacation

We loved it! The house was beautiful and comfortable with plenty of room for all of us. There was a gorgrous ocean view! And we were just steps away from the ocean! We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. The kitchen had everything we needed. It was an amazing week!

Great place to stay

Was a beautiful property, only issue was they say no pets. There was definitely a white haired dog there. Had to vacuum the house. Was not cleaned to my standards.

Love it, and we will return!

What a wonderful house in which to spend our family vacation! There was plenty of room for all 11 of us. The inside was just as the description said but even better! It was clean and comfortable, just like our own home. The pool and the hot tub were great additions. The views of the ocean were perfect with a short walk to the beach. Troy was very accommodating and quick to return calls or texts. We will definitely return to this special place.

Nice house, nice beach view `

Nice property. On a busy road so it’s hard to get out of driveway at times. Would not recommend Carolina shores. Requires in person check where all other properties I’ve stayed at just send you a code.

Perfect Location

The house is gorgeous. Our family stayed here for a week and everyone had a great time. Our boys especially loved the hot tub and the pool. Evening walks on the beach and watching the sun rise from the balcony were magical. Great communication with the owner/ manager too. But note - bed sheets are not included which I have never experienced in renting properties for 15+ years. Not a problem to take your own but be warned - it's in the fine print of the contract.

The house is beautiful! We had so much space! The three adult couples each got a suite with attached bathroom. Our kids (ages 14-21 hahaha) got to spread out. We enjoyed our private walkway to beach, pool, hot tub, and balcony to look at the ocean. The living room had plenty of comfortable seats. We watched a couple of movies as a group. My dad got up early each morning to see the sun rise and then would take a walk. We flew kites, some of us went parasailing in Duck, my son (14) enjoyed the crabs on the beach, we enjoyed eating out at local restaurants, mini golf and go karts, and we even went to see new Jurassic park movie.

Ocean 86 Southern Shores

The home was beautiful, the view was beautiful it was comfortable for our party of 10. It had a few nics and scratches. Everything worked except the elevator . It was different in that we had to bring our own sheets and towels. Ok, they didn’t let us know there would be no paper goods or soap. Communication was not so good, housekeeper was supposed to let us know when house ready, didn’t happen. Also kitchen towels and wash cloth were left dirty in washer. Would we return of course.

We appreciate any and all feedback, but let’s be clear – we do not mention nor advertise an elevator in any of our postings so there should have been no expectation that it would be available for use. The elevator works just fine but we intentionally do not promote it as being available to guests. Linen rental is very common in the Outer Banks, however, we will be including linens with all rentals in 2025. And regarding communication – we state that check in is 4 pm however IF the house was ready early (it all depends on the condition in which the previous guests leave the house), the cleaners would reach out. Thanks for taking the time to provide comments.

Magnificent views and more....

We were a party of 8, 5 adults and 3 children. everyone had their own room and all the adults had their own en-suite so the layout of this property worked very well for us.Pre-trip the photos provided by the owner were wonderful and accurate. As a design professional I can say that no photo could begin to capture the panoramic wonder you experience in this property. Will definitely be staying here again. Tangent to the views there is a lovely diversity of spaces within the home and around the decks that encircle the entire east and south sides and some of the south west as well on both floors. Screened spaces with shade and breeze, some spaces with full sun - so many options. The main space on the top floor is the penultimate gathering area if you are inside. The primary suite on the top floor (where my wife and I stayed) has glorious views of the ocean - we left the east side curtains open to experience the sunrise every morning!. Small details were appreciated such as the top foot of the guard rail wall is detailed to allow for views of the horizon while in a seated position on the deck or inside the home. The house is well maintained and was very clean upon arrival. The pool was perfect for the kids and adults alike when not dipping in the ocean. Just a wonderful expeirence...it is difficult working this week because I want to go back! ;)-AJC

Could be great house!

Location is great. Close to everything and beach. House needs some attention or reduce the rental price. Bathrooms all need updating. Stove looked like from the 50’s and you couldn’t read the controls. NO GAS GRILL OR LINENS!!!! Toilet in half bath didn’t flush until fixed Thursday of our stay. Furniture in living room needed cleaning. It was offered to be cleaned but we had twin infants in that area and didn’t want chemicals and damp furniture. Ants in kitchen and baths.Had to go buy traps. Things should have been taken care of before our stay not during it. Dining room chair had leg ripped off and sat in corner the whole week. Seems like the house gets a lot of party people in it that don’t respect things. Maybe renting through rental co would help. I know maintenance things would be done quicker. Not a chair or float or roll of toilet paper,no extras here. Could be great place but as is overpriced.

Disappointed

First the refrigerator water/ice wasn;t working and there was a large noisy temporary air conditioner that took up a lot of space in the dining room. They fixed thee water but not the ice maker and there weren't any ice trays so we kept running out for bags of ice. On day 3 they gave us ice trays but never got the ice maker working. Their maintenance staff was off site for 2 days so they said they couldn't call the home owner until the staff returned. Never got it fixed. Then we discovered that the washing machine wasn't working, again requiring homeowner contact and again never repaired. The whirlpool in the master bath was inoperable as well. A door was missing from one of the kitchen cabinets. Not the beautiful home represented in the pictures or the price!

Wow…Here’s proof that some people simply have to find something (anything) to complain about and they don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story. Our numerous 5 star reviews…along with our constant repeat Guests, speak for themselves. This woman wouldn’t be happy at Buckingham Palace. 1. Cabinet Missing Face – Seriously? This is an open concept cabinet – there is nothing missing. 2. Ice Maker/Water Dispenser - Property Mgmt Co went to house within hours of guest reporting issue. Water was fixed – Ice Maker was not (part had to be ordered) so ice trays were purchased and delivered same day. 3. Jet Tub – works just fine – most likely guest couldn’t figure out which switch turns it on. 4. Washing Machine – User error – absolutely nothing wrong with the machine.

Beautiful view

We really enjoyed this home. The view is outstanding. Our kids enjoyed the beach, pool, hot tub and game room very much. This house had it all. We plan to come back someday. Thanks to the owner for sharing it with us.
