While there were a few highlights to our stay at Satinwood, the overall experience was disappointing—particularly given the price point and the way our concerns were addressed.To begin with the positives: the view is beautiful. The steady winds kept the home cool, and we appreciated the solar power and other eco-friendly features. The bathrooms were well stocked with ample towels, and the kitchen was thoughtfully appointed. Prior to our arrival, the homeowner was communicative, which we valued.Unfortunately, several issues significantly detracted from our stay. The most substantial concern was the pool. Upon arrival, both free and total chlorine levels were well beyond recommended ranges and we observed multiple large chlorine pucks and a chlorine-dispensing bobber in the pool.After notifying the property manager, the pool technician reportedly visited twice and indicated the levels were “good,” though no documentation was provided. Our test strips continued to show markedly elevated chlorine levels for the remainder of our stay, which we communicated again to management. Ultimately our concerns were largely dismissed as a potential issue with our test strips rather than being meaningfully addressed.Additional concerns included a strong chemical cleaner odor upon arrival (we ultimately moved the mop outdoors to mitigate the smell), uncomfortable beds and pillows, and broken bedroom window and porch slider screens which appear to have been an issue with prior guests.
