It was just like in the photos. Welcoming, tidy, and easy to check in. The ceiling fans kept the cottage cool and comfortable even in mid July. Beds were soft and plenty of towels were available. Responses from the owner were quick. Water is potable, but make sure you bring your own jugs. We loved that we could bring our dog to enjoy the vacation, and the dog beach was just a short walk away.

The cottage was very clean, well maintained, and stocked with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The host was friendly, responsive, and communication was smooth throughout our trip. Unfortunately, we experienced power outages on two consecutive evenings. Since the water supply also went out with the power, we couldn’t shower, cook, or even flush the toilet, which had a significant impact on our family vacation. Aside from the unexpected outages, the property itself was excellent.

Great place!

We really enjoyed staying here. The house was a good size and very comfortable, and the location was great. Perfect for a family vacation. We would stay here again.

Best place to stay

Thank you for the wonderful stay. The house was very accommodating with things we weren't even expecting! This was our family's first ever cottage trip and we plan to hopefully do this yearly. We will gladly recommend you to our friends and family!

Extremely disappointing experience. The cottage was not as advertised, and most of our concerns were ignored throughout our stay. The water cooler was empty when we arrived, and we had to supply all of our own drinking water. There should be a clear notice on the listing that the tap water is not safe to drink. It is yellowish in colour and one of us became sick after brushing our teeth with the tap water. After that, none of us used the tap water again to brush our teeth for the rest of our stay.The bathroom sink did not drain for our entire stay, and the BBQ was low on propane with a broken igniter. We could not use the BBQ at all due to its condition. The overall condition of the amenities was unacceptable, and we have photos to support our concerns.The only issue that was addressed was the air conditioning. We arrived on Saturday and it was not repaired until Monday evening. Everything else was met with little to no response.We will not be returning and cannot recommend this cottage based on our experience.

Exactly what we hoped for

My favorite part of our booking was that, when we showed up, the cabin looked and felt exactly as it did in the photos online. To top it off, the host left a fantastic record collection and some tasty chocolates. Rent this cabin if you're looking for seclusion, as its a drive to most of the nearby towns and parks. However, we had a great time taking our dog walking out on Oliphant beach and Wiarton is 10 mins away and has a spectacular coffee shop/hiking trail. Just my wife and I stayed but you could comfortably fit probably 4 adults and 2-3 kids, in my opinion.

The weather did not cooperate. We had a downpour for the first full day and a very cloudy, sort of "off" day for our 2nd full day. We made the most of it and despite the fact that the water was waaaaay down and the Boys were almost too far out to be seen and still only up to above their ankles in water on Oliphant's beach, we made our way into Sauble and they climbed on the Ascent Aerial place for almost 2 hours and took a quick chilly dip at Sauble Beach before we wandered back to the cottage to make dinner. Then another night of movies on the couch. We had fun regardless of the weather.

The size of the cottage was great and everything was stocked well. The fire pit and BBQ were highlights. Some challenges were the main floor shower/bath and the fireplace. Very small and hard to stand in (shower) and we couldn’t get the fireplace working. It would have been nice to have that with the chilly evenings. Maybe check to see if the pilot light is on and leave instructions on how to use. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
