Relax cove side in this adorable and cozy cottage with close up views of Stonington Harbor, distant islands, and the active harbor vista of lobster boats, schooners and kayakers just outside your windows. The cottage interior offers a light-filled, open plan with beamed cathedral ceilings giving the room more of a spacious feel. The simple yet well equipped kitchen opens to the living/dining area. The bedroom (queen bed) is off the living room (additional LR queen sleeper sofa, too). The small bathroom has a walk in shower. The cottage is water facing on two sides, with a small grassy yard, garden and a stone patio perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning and watching the sun set over the harbor. With the harbor and array of nearby islands to explore, Stonington offers exceptional kayaking and boating of all kinds.

Note: While there is an added sleeper sofa to accommodate a party of 4, the more open design of the cottage works best for 2. As there are steps leading to the cottage, it is not ideal for those with physical limitations. The proximity to the ocean and seawall also makes it unsuitable for toddlers or young children.

We had an absolutely perfect stay at this cozy cottage on the water. We loved waking up to the view of the boats in the harbor, and our kids enjoyed playing around in the yard at night. The house is decorated beautifully and was absolutely spotless. The kitchen had anything we needed, and it was so convenient to have a washer/dryer so handy. The hosts were there to greet us at check in and they couldn’t have been nicer. Anyone staying here is guaranteed to love it and want to come back again, just as we hope to in the future! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

The Boathouse cottage was ideally located on the harbor edge. Watching lobster boats come and go was very interesting. The hosts Nicole and Rick were extremely personable and were on site when we arrived a little early. The cottage is just right for a couple. The pictures on VRBO are a little out of date as they have made some nice improvements to include new windows and a nice deck overlooking the harbor. The cottage was immaculately clean upon arrival. Would choose this location again if we ever were to return to Deer Isle, ME.

Cannot say enough good things about this cottage. The friendly owners greeted us and made sure we were comfortable while we settled in. We were able to check in early, meaning we could enjoy the day. The cottage is well appointed with everything you need and decorated adorably. We enjoyed so much sitting on the deck and enjoying the cool breezes, while we watched the sea and all the working lobster boats. There was a bit of noise from a close restaurant as they prepped to grunge music. No fault of the owners and restaurant serves delicious food. We were walking distance to everything in town, including the ferry dock to Isle a Haut. Check in And out were a breeze. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again!

This is such a cute property! We arrived at dusk to a lovely spot on the water with interesting views of the harbor. It is in a great location with easy access to restaurants, shops, and kayaking. Everything was super clean and nicely decorated in nautical themes. The kitchen was well equipped with everything I needed to cook our meals. Sitting outside at the different deck locations to enjoy coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evenings was super relaxing. We really enjoyed our time at the Boathouse. Our hosts were very inviting and made themselves available, but we didn't need anything. The place was perfect for our needs. Keep in mind this is not a property for folks with mobility concerns or for small children. It is located right on the water and is accessed by walking down a grassy hillside. We would rent this again and again. Nicole was easy to communicate with and we truly enjoyed our stay!

The Boathouse has a panoramic view of the harbor and the archipelago. One could just sit and watch the weather and the harbor activities of birds and boats for hours. The property is bright, pleasant and clean, and convenient by foot to Stonington’s main street. It’s also very near a public put-in. The Boathouse is accessed via steps down through a lovely garden. If you are sensitive to sound it is important to know that fisherman’s co-op is close by across a little tidal inlet and has compressors running nearly 24/7 in warmer temps and diesel trucks idling for many hours beginning before 4am. Also fisherman start going out v early and the Boathouse is directly on the harbor. Some people would want effective earplugs for sleep and reading. The owners were communicative and there were fresh seasonal garden flowers all around the space. It is a special rental and we hope to come back next year.

Perfectly sized for two guests (or up to four with the sleeper sofa), the layout is bright and functional. The living room flows seamlessly into the well-equipped kitchen, making it ideal for relaxing evenings or preparing a meal.You’ll love watching lobster boats and kayakers glide by from your window, and the pet-friendly policy is a major bonus for those traveling with furry companions. If you’re seeking a light-filled coastal retreat with peaceful harbor views and a walkable downtown location, this cottage is a gem—perfect for couples, pet owners, or anyone looking to unplug in a scenic, charming setting. It’s a wonderful blend of comfort, convenience, and character.

The Boathouse sits on a pier overlooking harbor where the lobsters boats anchor. Stonington is a quiet friendly low key beautiful area to stay. A few good restaurants in walking distance. Go kayaking, hiking, boat /ferry tour or just chill overlooking harbor. Nicole the host is wonderful and available whenever we had a question. Etc.
