The Space:

Mermaid is perfect for a small family or a couple's vacation. This home has been carefully planned for comfort and enjoyment! You will love spending time in this beautiful coastal home. When you step into the home you will find that the living and dining room, as well as the kitchen, are all open to each other making it perfect to watch your children play or having an easy conversation with friends. In the living room there is a sleeper sofa, a child's size table, lots of toys and games, along with a TV/DVD/VCR entertainment center and stereo clock.



There are two bedrooms in this home and both have a large bed. The main bedroom has a sliding glass door to the back patio and yard which is complete with picnic table and lawn chairs. There is a myriad of books and travel guides, along with a fabulous binder, chocked full of information about local places to visit and enjoy. There is even an array of cookbooks for your cooking delight.



This gem is centrally located being just three blocks to downtown, three blocks to the great Manzanita city park, and only three houses from the beach, allowing you to listen to the cresting waves as you relax and refresh. The Mermaid house is so loved for its tasteful simplicity and homey atmosphere that many visitors return to stay here year after year.

Great house, great location

We loved our stay at this nice little house close to the beach and the main drag in Manzanita. The house was clean and comfortable, location perfect, and we will definitely stay here again.

Sister getaway

Spent a few nights here with my sister and the house worked well for us. It’s very comfortable and the location is great with easy access to both beach and town.

Nice cozy house a few steps from the beach

Nice lawn for outdoor dinning, well equipped and nice back deck. Walking distance to town and the beach but away from the crowds. Variety of board games for kids and adults

Perfect Beach House

My wife and I stayed here with my 8 year old daughter. The location doesn't get better between the immediate beach access to a short walk to downtown shops and restaurants. Just the right size for a small family and the beds were really comfortable. It seems rather sparse but it really has everything you need for a relaxing vacation. We loved the outdoor shower for washing off after the beach. Would love to stay here again.

Great location, everything you need

Wonderful stay! All the basics covered, and right by the beach. Definitely an older house with character, but clean and functional and updated touches are very nice. We had three adults and one toddler in our party -- a bit squished but with a deck outside and so much within walking distance, it worked.

Great location

The place was a perfect size for our little family. The kitchen was a little rustic let’s just say, but the rest of the house was in good working order. The back yard looked like it had a new deck put in and it was pretty nice to sit on to chill out in the sun. The location was great; just a couple blocks from the main drag which is convenient if you need to grab a burrito from the Mexican restaurant or some eggs from the mini mart. The beach access was one of the highlights for me. Just a quick walk to the beach.

Exactly as advertised

100 steps from beautiful beach—loved watching windsurfers and sailboarders. A short walk to downtown restaurants and grocery store (which makes great sandwiches and offers hot food selections at Deli.). Mom and 3 college students used this cottage as a base for hiking and beachcombimg adventures. Clean and comfortable with easy check-in. Small backyard deck off master bedroom was unexpected bonus. I recommend this cottage without reservation.

The location of the Mermaid House is an easy walk to the main street with grocery, restaurants, and shopping. You can stand in the front yard and see and hear the ocean. The home has all the basic amenities for cooking, and the old time frigidaire oven and stove works well and was fun to cook on.

I've visited Manzanita a few times and stayed in a few places, but this was the best location – just a few blocks' walk to Laneda Ave., and literally half a block to a path that goes to the beach. The cottage isn't large but it's comfortable and pleasant. I'd be happy to return.

House was easy to find, easy to move around in, and comfortable for myself and my partner. Stove was older and took a while to cook things on certain burners, oven also older, but for three nights, we had a lovely time.

We have 2 year old twins and the house worked out perfectly for them. The house is simply decorated, not too fancy but also not junky. Easy to toddler-proof. An anti slip mat for in the tub would be a nice addition as well as a floor mat for getting out of the shower.

My two young children and I stayed a week and we loved walking to the beach, into town and to the park. The yard is nice to have also. It's definitely small, but we didn't mind. My two recommendations for the property are to get a new sofa and to put a screen/storm door on the front. That would help open the space up a little if you could leave the door open.

As an owner, I understand the challenges of creating a warm environment with the practicalities necessary for the rental market. This home is charming, has personal touches including historical informational about the area, a wonderful beachy feeling including a cool outdoor shower, wood paneling, new mattresses and towels, but above all, a perfect location. The cleaning team commented that it was especially easy to clean. I had to drag my husband away! We loved everything.
