We had the most wonderful vacation. Cottage was perfect. We love getting up in the morning and going out and sitting on the deck and watching all the different animals that we saw. One day we were lucky enough to see a small whale come by the front of the cottage such an amazing sight. The shopping and Bar Harbor was incredible. Truly enjoy that. Also I would definitely take another trip there in the future. We had a fantastic week together.

What a special place! I cant say enough about how wonderful Simple Pleasures was for our vacation. The location is perfection! We enjoyed discovering all of the hidden gems on the quiet side of the island. But you dont have to leave the property to see the beauty. We sat in the chairs in front of the window and watched seals,dolphins, otters, cormorants and loons. It was so peaceful and exactly what we needed. A heron visited every day and we saw the elusive king fisher! The cottage has everything you need. We kayaked up to the cove and saw seals and a loon caling to another. We will definitely be back.

We loved our stay in this cozy quiet cabin on the water. The property was clean and we had everything that we needed. We were very comfortable. There was almost no noise from the shipyard and it was very private overall, which we prefer. Would definitely stay there again!

Location is unbelievable, hard to balance time at the cottage and time in the park. My nephews loved skipping rocks, kayaking and spending time watching eagles and seals popping up in the water. The cottage is comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. Thank you for being dog friendly!

Great Spot!

We had a great time staying at Simple Pleasures. Location allows easy access to everything on MDI. Being on the water is awesome. Cabin is well-equipped and as pictured. We hope to visit again.

A Perfect Week

I cannot imagine a better place to spend a week on the island; super close to anything you would want to see in Acadia, but secluded enough to make you feel like spending a full day sitting by the dock.

Great Location

This cabin checked everything off our wish list, close to all our favorite spots on MDI. Easy access to trails, restaurants and small seaside towns. The private pier provided hours of fun fishing with plenty of marine activity to watch on the sound.

Perfect, quiet location with incredible views close to everything around Acadia NP and Bar Harbor

Loved our week at Simple Pleasures—hiked all over Acadia NP with our dog and were very comfortable at the cabin. We loved the views from the living room, had everything we needed, and really enjoyed our time on Mt Desert Island. We would recommend this property to others and would stay again. Thank you.

Peaceful

Peaceful and Beautiful cottage on Somes Sound. Had everything we needed and was close to Acadia National Park. Saw Otters and heard Loons while we sat by our fire in the evening. Just wonderful!

Perfection on the Sound

This place was the perfect peaceful spot to end each day with a fire pit, glass of wine, sound of the Loons in the distance and the beautiful view of the Sound. The cabin itself was clean and comfortable and suited all of our needs. My wife and I enjoyed staying here very much and look forward to coming back! Highly recommend!

Just the right place for us

As an elderly couple we are no longer very active. “Simple Pleasures” was an ideal place in that it was all on one level, and we got great pleasure sitting and enjoying the view and the tides.

Nice location a little hard to find

The cottage was right on the water! Beautiful views of Sommes Sound. Comfortable cottage, bed was fine. Nice deck. Could you a better couch, tough to get up from the couch for us older folks, younger folks will have no problem though.

Beautiful on the water cottage

This cottage is right on the water, saw dolphins and eagles from the deck and kayak, lobster boats coming right by. It is small and pretty basic, but comfortable and decent kitchen, wonderful big windows to see Somes Sound. It is on the quiet side but easy 15-20min drive to all hiking trails and Bar Harbor, 5mins to SW Harbor which has nice restaurants. we had coffee in the morning and glass of wine in the evening on the deck by the water, loved it, we will be back.

Nature at its finest

The home was just perfect. Clean and comfortable. The fireplace was very nice plenty of firewood for fires each night. Saw seal harbors from the living room window. Also a bunch of porpoise in the cove. Lots of birds. Very quiet in this little cove. Close enough to Acadia, as we went to the carriage roads every day. Would stay here again for sure..

This location is everything. It’s 20-25 minutes to all things in Bar Harbor and Acadia. If you happen to be a bird nerd like me you will be pleasantly surprised as well! Herons, Bald Eagles, Kingfishers, Osprey and more! The views are awesome, and the night sky is glorious in this location as well. The host is quick to respond to any questions we had. Our dog loved it as well. He can be a nervous swimmer but was able to get in slowly right by the front of the house when the tide was up! My husband was excited about the fire pit and a friend joined us as well!

Simple Pleasures

Relaxing & Beautiful, The name on the Cottage "Simple Pleasures" reflects everything about this Vacation spot we would like to call our second home. Michael the Host was so easy to deal with and a very nice person it made our first stay here on the Sound that much better. We both Recommend this Cottage "Simple Pleasures" to everyone !!! True Maine

We loved the cabin, and especially since it was isolated and on the water. Would have liked a ladder on the dock to make swimming easier. But that is small compared with the sense of being alone in Maine. We will be back.

Perfect place for solitude !

My three daughters, dog and I stayed over the 4th of July. Was just the place we needed - had everything to make us comfortable. Nice and quiet. Didn’t hear any fireworks ! So close to the park so we could go in and out throughout the day. We loved watching the tide go in and out each day and even saw a jellyfish from the pier! Hosts super responsive when we had a small issue. Book today !!
