Welcome to The Lost Compass, a freshly furnished and modern two-story log cabin chalet within walking distance of Boulder Bay and just five minutes from town. Perfect for families and groups looking to enjoy Big Bear throughout the seasons, this inviting three-bedroom retreat accommodates up to seven guests and combines classic mountain character with modern conveniences, a private hot tub, game room, fully fenced backyard, and pet-friendly accommodations.

Step inside to a cozy living room filled with classic cabin details, including beautiful hardwood floors, knotty pine beamed cathedral ceilings, and large windows that bring in plenty of natural light and provide the perfect setting for watching the snow fall during winter. Comfortable modern couches and sitting chairs surround the cozy gas fireplace and mounted streaming TV, creating an inviting space for movie nights or simply relaxing together after a day of mountain adventures. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi is provided, while guests must use their own accounts to access subscription-based streaming services.

The open floor plan flows seamlessly from the living room into the equipped kitchen and dining areas, making it easy to entertain and spend time together. An inviting dining table and breakfast island provide ample seating, while the kitchen offers everything needed to prepare home-cooked meals. Freshly painted cabinetry is stocked with cookware and utensils, and essential appliances plus a dishwasher make meal preparation and cleanup a breeze.

Two guest bedrooms and a hallway bathroom are conveniently located on the downstairs entry level. The first bedroom features a queen bed, while the second offers a full-over-twin bunk bed. Very cute place, loved the hot tub. In the description it says 1 minute walk to the water, it was not. I was hoping to just walk down to the water with kayaks so that was a bummer. Definitely need new fire pit chairs other than that it was great.

We loved our stay at The Lost Compass! Beds were very comfortable, the decor was darling and they had all the amenities we wanted including bowls for our dog! Loved sitting on the front porch with coffee in the morning and lounging in the hot tub in the evening. it’s in a really lovely and quiet neighborhood which was perfect for dog walks and there’s a little market and restaurants within walking distance. Communication with Big Bear Vacations was quick and helpful all weekend, highly recommend!

The cabin was comfortable and nice location. The communication with the property management was excellent. Only a few cons. There was only one dish towel in the kitchen, the chairs in the backyard we're not fit to sit in, as they were very wobbly. It didn't seem to be very clean. The Rugs in the living room look like they had pee stains on them and the floors didn't look like they had been swept or vacuumed. Other than that, the neighborhood was nice to walk in with our dogs and we did have a good time while we were there.

Great getaway!

Beautiful cabin! We had such a great time for our son’s 16th birthday! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed, great location, and looked just like the pictures. Will definitely book with them for our next stay.

Good Stay

We enjoyed our time at the Lost Compass. The house had everything we needed. My 4 year old really enjoyed the game garage! Hot tub was excellent.

Pine Log Paradise

Wonderful little home in a safe and quiet neighborhood. The home is a few miles from downtown, lake and trails. The management company is excellent and we appreciated the great communication and bit of flexibility with check in and check out.

Summer vacation by the lake

Great location! Beautiful and quiet neighborhood. We could walk to the lake easily. Dog and kid friendly. Loved the spa and game room. Only downside was the trash situation, you have to drive your trash over a mile away to throw it out and it’s only open 8 to 5pm. Other than that, we had a great time and would return.

Cutest Cabin

The cabin is just perfect and cozy! Really adorable decor equipped with everything! We had a few minor maintenance issues but someone came out right away and took care of them. Hope to come back next year!

Beautiful Property

Very clean and well decorated home in Boulder Bay that sits in a quiet and and beautiful neighborhood. Great property for kids and adults alike with a hot tub, games, and plenty of space. We had 4 people + a large dog and we’re quite comfortable. Would love to come back soon!

Big bear review

House was good. The only real negative was having to taken out our own trash and drive it all the way across town the opposite direction from wheee we were going.

Good times

Fun stay. Cabin was in good condition and clean. Location is within walking distance to a marina, boat rentals, water activities. Game room was really fun! I deducted a star because the property was advertised as private but the neighbors are close by. Also there was no coffee the which was kinda annoying. Just stock coffee! It's cheap and goes a long wag.

Nice house in Boulder Bay

This house worked well for our winter vacation. Our main criteria for choosing this property were the kids game equipment, pet friendly property, and flat driveway that isn't difficult when covered in snow. We found the house to be nice and clean, and easy for our small dog to settle into. The kids gaming equipment all worked perfectly well, and they enjoyed it! Everything worked as it should....kitchen appliances, laundry machines, heaters. Only minor issue we had was the downstairs shower door was stuck half way open, so we just didn't use that shower. We did weather a 6 inch snowstorm here, with no issues getting in/out of the driveway or neighborhood. We would certainly stay in this house or nearby again.

Too hot

Didn’t feel clean, had items in disrepair including an upstairs window and the front screen door, as well as a badly stained carpet upstairs. It was well stocked with all necessary items, and the back yard was enjoyable. The listing says no AC, which would be fine, if there were adequate ways of cooling the house down. However the house, particularly the upstairs remained very warm throughout the day and night, making sleep difficult. I wouldn’t stay here again.

Check-in after 4:00 pm - Check-out before 10:00 am
No Early Arrival/Late Departure During Peak Seasons or Holidays.

There is No Street Parking Allowed in Big Bear- Make Every Attempt to Get Cars Off the Street for Snowplows. November thru April the law requires snow chains in your cars.

Pet Policy-Pet Friendly Homes Only-$40/Pet/Night
Pets must be acknowledged and may not be left unattended in the home. Owners must clean up after pets; subject to added cleaning fees for violations.

All homes include clean linens, and fresh bath towels for the occupancy. A kitchen with basic cookware and small starter amount of dish soap, toilet paper, and trash bags will be supplied. Paper towels, coffee filters/coffee, specialty appliances, nor condiments/spices/oils are supplied.

No Pay-Per-View Ordering in any homes.

No refunds/credits for cancellations or trip interruptions due to acts of nature, (especially snow, fire, power outages) weather, road conditions, mechanical or electrical failures, spa malfunctions, or other equipment factors beyond our control.

This is a forested mountain community home to critters- animals or insects you may encounter are spiders, moths, flies, squirrels, gophers, bears, coyotes, burro, bear, bats, etc. Our team inspects prior to arrival but cannot guarantee the home will be free of these forest critters.

We reserve the right to offer a comparable property or issue a full refund if circumstances arise that are beyond our control and your property is made unavailable for any reason.
