Detatched, Cosy Cottage With Mountain Views - Parking, Sleeps 8, Pet-friendly

Built in the 1920s by the artist and embroiderer Ann Macbeth, High Bield is a remarkable house which was completely refurbished a few years ago. It was built high on the fell and takes in views of Brotherswater and Ullswater and offers walking from the door to High St, Helvellyn, St Sunday Crag, Fairfield and many other popular spots. Almost every room has a spectacular view, especially the twin room which was originally an artist's studio. The house oozes charm and is very comfortable and warm, with a woodburner in the sitting room.

Rubbish , please put in bins located in the garage . Side door is unlocked to access garage easily
Put keys in lockbox on side of summer house

Young children must be supervised in the garden as it can be steep and rocky . No dogs upstairs or on furniture. No wipes to be flushed down toilet.
To minimise handling of bed linen for the safety of our staff could guests please strip bed linen and place in laundry basket at the end of stay.
Strictly no dogs in bedrooms or on beds in any circumstance.

Wow, what a location! Perfect location for hiker groups and families. The house is very roomy with lots of outside space too with a well equipped kitchen. The house was clean with plenty of towels and extra bedding for those chillier nights. I’d recommend you bring the basic provisions with you the nearest shop is a drive away. Also be prepared for a thrilling little mountain drive on your arrival to the house. Thank you Fiona, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and if you’ll have us we’ll be back again. 10/10

The cottage was very well-equipped with cleaning supplies, toiletries, pantry items, and cookware. The drive up to the cottage...well, it was for the brave. The daily flyovers by fighter jets were quite impressive.

One-of-a-kind venue nestled in nature with glorious views and walks on the doorstep. The cottage is evidently cared for and feels more like a home than a holiday accommodation with activities for the kids, This was our first time holidaying in this part of the lakes and we loved every minute. The views were fantastic and we all enjoyed the isolation of being so high up. The location is ideal for walking and there were many walks on the doorstep. The house is spacious with a large hilly garden. The kitchen was incredibly well equipped. Also, there were so many lovely views from the bedrooms it was hard to choose which was the best one.

We loved our stay at High Bield. We love the house. We felt it wasn't as clean as the last time we stayed but this didnt spoil our enjoyment. Our dog Nell loved the garden. She would go and find sticks to chew. The two young boys enjoyed exploring the garden as well and loved seeing the frog sporn in the pond. The best part is the views in the morning-wow. We hope to be back next year

The location of the house and the views were absolutely amazing - and from a group of walkers who have had many years spending time in the Lakes it was the best that we have stayed as a group.The house as well was really cosy, was clean and fresh, had loads of character, and history, which we enjoyed reading up about. And it was great to see some references and touches around the house in a nod to its past. The track leading up was not as bad as we had thought that it would be, but a really lower car, may have a an issue in a few places with a few lumps and bumps. Once we were there though, we didn't have to drive again as the footpaths run right past the property, and the walking in this area is great.

We had a lovely stay at this lovely house. We found the house very welcoming and it even had a Xmas tree and decorations up. The kitchen was very well stocked. We all found the beds comfortable. The route up to the house is not for the faint hearted but worth it once you arrive at the property. Thank you for a wonderful stay
