What you’ll love about staying at the A+ A-frame:

• Our location! We are just 3 miles from King’s Beach and only 7 miles from NorthStar. Whether you visit in summer or winter, you will have close access to many activities from the beach and several ski resorts, to hiking, cross-country skiing and sledding just outside of our back door! You will find breathtaking views of the lake just a 3-minute walk up the hill from the house which leads to miles of hiking trails that can take you all the way to the beach. When you’re inside the home you will feel secluded and love the mountain and forest view surrounding you!
• The creature comforts and amenities that our home provides from our high-end private hot tub to our wood-burning fireplace, plush sectional sofa, large flatscreen TVs, and wide array of games and puzzles. For those of you who love to cook, we offer a newly remodeled, fully equipped kitchen with all new stainless-steel appliances. You will also find brand-new memory foam mattresses throughout the home and a private washer and dryer so you can pack light and return home with clean clothes.
• The extra amenities we supply for families! You won’t need to pack the following: Pack-N-Play with changing table component; Rock-N-Play; toddler potty; nightlights; white sound machines; highchair; bouncer chair; infant bathtub; infant playmat; boppy; doorway jumper; baby & toddler spoons/dinnerware/cups; safety gate for the stairs; cabinet safety latches; hiking backpack for babies/toddlers; children’s books, toys, games, DVD’s (along with DirecTV, Netflix, and Prime Video) and air hockey table. We are the ideal home away from home for anyone traveling with babies & toddlers to teenagers.

What you should know before you book at the A+ A-frame:

• Our house boasts a large two-car garage which is easily accessible from the street without a long or steep driveway to traverse; however, that means only two cars can be parked during times of snow. Please plan accordingly if booking with friends. During the summer, driveway and street parking is plentiful. Getting up to the house from the garage can be challenging in the winter so please be aware that you will need appropriate footwear for the snow and potential ice and that this house will best serve able-bodied individuals not intimidated by multiple steps or snowy paths.
• The house is ideally suited for up to 4-6 adults with 2-6 children. Our target renters are families with a mix of adults and kids or 1-3 couples. Large groups of all adults will be more comfortable at a larger house. We can only accommodate a MAXIMUM of 8 adults (anyone over the age of 16) but set our guest limit at 6 adults to minimize noise.

No matter when you come to North Tahoe, you'll be assured a memorable time, with a vacation full of fun outdoor events and beautiful sights. And when you want to rest and relax at the end of your busy, fun-filled days, our comfortable vacation home is a pleasant place to land. Perfect!!!

From booking to checkout the experience was wonderful! We had family come in from Texas and it fit all of us perfectly! The house had everything we needed for our stay! The toys for the kids were a big hit and the hot tub was exactly what the adults needed to relax. Can’t wait for our next visit to Tahoe!!

What a lovely place! The owners have one of the best stocked kitchens of any home we have ever rented in Tahoe. The hot tub was lovely, and the layout worked great for our 3 friends from Cali and our family of 3 including the teen who took over the loft. Will definitely keep this place on our roster for the future!

Great Family Cabin!

We loved the cabin and the location. Extremely family friendly, with games, books, night lights, sound machines! Unfortunately, due to the fires in Tahoe, we had to cut our trip short and never left the cabin. Derek & Fiona graciously gave us a more than fair partial refund on the days we were unable to stay. We hope to come back another time!

Lovely stay!

We really enjoyed our stay at the A-frame. The house is beautifully decorated, and it was a perfect fit for our group. The kitchen was well-stocked, and the back porch was perfect for grilling. A couple of highlights: 1) the beds are super comfy! Everyone in our group got a good night's sleep. 2) the loft upstairs is perfect for the kiddos. Our son, who is 6, spent a good deal of time up there--either playing with the toys, playing air hockey or playing nintendo. The adults loved the nintendo too! When we had friends visit, their kids (ages 6 & 9) loved the loft as well. The house is just a few minutes from Kings Beach and a 10-15 min. drive to Truckee. It was a perfect location for us. Communication with the owners is quick and efficient. We would definitely stay at this property again! Thanks Derek and Fiona for hosting us--it was a wonderful vacation!

Wonderful Getaway

This is a beautiful home. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub after a day on the slopes! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to make meals and enjoy cocktails. We were a group of 5 adults and had plenty of room. Very much appreciated staying in this home for our ski vacation.

Perfect family cabin on the North Shore

Our group of 6 (5 adults, 1 toddler) called the A+ A-frame home for Thanksgiving week and didn't want to return home! Derek provided lots of helpful area info prior to our arrival and check-in was super simple with the keyless entry app. The cabin had everything we needed to cook all our meals at home and lots of space to relax (I never wanted to get off the couch). Huge Safeway just minutes away for all your shopping needs. There's a really breathtaking lake view at the end of the street that we walked to everyday. My toddler LOVED all the books/toys available in the cabin (and I loved not having to bring any of that stuff from home!). Would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Wonderful rental - an instant family home.

Picturesque stay!

Our family spent Thanksgiving at the property. We had an amazing time....we received about 6" of snow on Thanksgiving which made our stay even more memorable. The property is close to everything yet far enough to feel like a true mountain getaway. There is an amazing view of the lake just up the street. We had a family of 8 adults and based on some of the information, we were concerned about space. The house was absolutely perfect for our family. We cooked a full Thanksgiving meal and the kitchen had all the essential tools. We only had a couple of concerns... The bathrooms are very, very dated. There are 2 bathrooms - which are hallway bathrooms. The master does not have a bathroom. This may have been outlined in the information.. It did not hinder our stay and would not hinder a return to this property. The other complaint is the overall cleanliness of the house. Some of the kitchen utensils were dirty and the place was quite dusty. Again...the positives outweigh the negatives and I assume the cleanliness issue is not typical of this property based on other reviews. The owners thought of everything to make this a very special getaway.

Perfect Tahoe getaway

Stayed here for 5 nights in July with friends & family. Everyone loved the house! There was ample space for all of us & we never felt cramped. The kitchen is nicely renovated & very well stocked, which worked out well for us as we cooked quite a few meals there. Great for kids- plenty of toys & games, plus an air hockey table (which was a hit!). The outdoor hot tub was an added bonus. The house is in a great location too. Very close to King’s Beach. The house is also in close proximity to Truckee for shopping & restaurants, local supermarket (Safeway) is just a few minutes away, & it’s a short drive to the Nevada casinos. We truly loved our stay here & would choose to stay here again if back in the area.

We enjoyed our stay at A+ so much, it was difficult to leave! Perfect place for a couple of families with varying ages of kids. This entire experience from booking to departure was an A+ experience! The property owners were highly accommodating to our needs; we were traveling with a large group of 9 for a collegiate baseball experience! The properties amentities were just as described inside and out ! Our boys enjoyed the jacuzzi, game loft, WiFi access , corn hole amongst the pines and very comfortable sleeping accommodations post long days on the field. The adults were grateful for a washer//dryer ( uniform laundering) fully equipt kitchen for meal prep and multitude of televisions in comfortable rooms for retreating. This property is conveniently located near beach, grocery and ballpark! We highly recommend booking this A+AFrame!

We are a family of four who live in the Bay Area. We absolutely love Tahoe and the A-Plus A-Frame is our happy place. We are looking to fill it with many years of memories and we hope you help us along the way.

We bought the house in 2016 and spent months renovating it. We tried working with a local property management company at first, but were unhappy with the service provided to our guests and have decided to do much of it ourselves instead so that we can better control quality. We were new to VRBO in July 2017 and are so happy we made the switch.

Both of us work in sales but we got to California through different routes. One born and raised in Oklahoma, graduating from the University of Oklahoma, following jobs from Chicago to south Florida and finally to the Bay Area for the last 18 years. The other, from Connecticut and a graduate of Hobart & William Smith Colleges and a Masters from Boston College with dreams of coming out West to San Francisco where she's been for the last 20 years.

We have an 11 year old son who absolutely loves spending time in Tahoe and we welcomed our second son in September 2017 (he's already a big fan!).

We love family, friends, the great outdoors, sports (some of us more than others), travel, funny sitcoms, good or deliciously bad food and spending quality time in Tahoe.

Why they chose this property

We have both been in love with North Lake Tahoe since the first time we saw it. Avid skiers and outdoor enthusiasts, we found ourselves traveling to Tahoe several times per year. We finally decided we wanted to make it more permanent and fulfilled our dreams of owning a vacation property in 2016.

What makes this property unique

We chose this particular property because we fell in love with the classic A-frame style and believed the location to be ideal for all seasons....close to the beach in summer and the slopes in winter!
