Great place to stay to visit the Maggie Valley area
We loved this peaceful site and this quaint and comfortable cabin. It was easy to access and we enjoyed our two nights.

Cute place. Needs a deep clean (trash under the couches, big cobwebs, etc). The stairs leading to the loft are very dangerous. Be careful. Host was nice. Overall, not a bad experience.
A few things like salt and pepper shakers, dish soap, etc would have been nice to have provided.

Salt and pepper ate located in the kitchen cabinet along with other seasonings.
Dish soap was on the sink, don't understand why you didn't see it.

Comfortable
We stayed at Deer Country in July 2020. They cabin was cozy, beds were comfortable, amazing views from the front porch, and the owners were responsive. The reason I did not give the property 5 stars is due to the following:
1) The cabin could use a deep cleaning. There were cobwebs in the rafters, stains on the bedspreads and towels, and dust in low-traffic areas. We did email the owners with the glaring things we noticed upon checkin which they quickly resolved, but we did not mention everything because it would have caused too much of a disruption to our stay to get to all of them. I would suggest taking the cabin out of rotation for a day so that a thorough cleaning can be performed.
2) There were aspects of the cabin that should be called out in the listing but are not. For example, there is no dishwasher. This is not a big deal, except that the cleaning of the dishes is left to the renters, and based on some of the dirty dishes I found in the cabinets, it’s clear that not all renters put too much effort into it. Not good, especially in the time of coronavirus. We switched to paper plates/cups/utensils and washed pans before and after using them. Also, the cabin is part of a community of 4 cabins that are fairly close together. The washer and dryer for one neighboring cabin was in a closet that was attached to this cabin, so the neighbors were in and out of our yard, leaving little privacy. If your are looking for solitude, this is not the cabin for you. Lastly, two of the 3 bedrooms are lofts that are open to the main living area. We have kids who go to bed earlier than us, so this was not a good layout for us.
All in all, this cabin has a lot of great aspects to it and with a little TLC and updated listing, it will be perfect for the right travelers.

Thank you for your review. We have since changed our cleaning company because of your review.
Awesomely quiet, out of the way location to enjoy the crisp mountain air! Our doggies loved their stay so much we couldn’t get them in the car 😂. Only a 4/5 on cleanliness due to dropping my phone behind the bed trying to plug something in and there were lots of cobwebs and dead lady bugs back there. But the rest of the house was great. Our 1 year old enjoyed meeting the goats! It’s hard to find a place that allows larger dog breeds especially for such a small fee and we are so appreciative of that here. Our old lady labs wouldn’t bother a thing and we enjoy taking them with us on adventures! High possibility of renting again from you!

I responded to this guest first thing in the morning after receiving a phone call at 11 o'clock at night. Met with these guests and changed batteries in remote. TV works without a remote.
These guests advised that they loved the cabin and had no issues.
We take pride in the cleanliness of our Cabin.
Don't understand this review unless they mixed us up with another stay somewhere else.
The view was beautiful. We enjoyed the goats.
Bedrooms were comfortable. Unfortunately there was no hot water in either of the showers.
There was hot water in the sinks which we used to clean up.
Pretty peaceful however, Didn’t like that their was laundry services for cabin next to ours attached to our cabin. It was noisy and strange when they did there laundry and they had to walk by our windows.
Also cobwebs in shower, etc
This place is as advertised. There is no dishwasher as previous renters have states, but easily solvable with paper plates. Its cost and alep 6 comfortably. I would highly recommend this to any group that wants a weekend getaway. 25 minutes from the slopes!

Needing Maintenance
Decent location near Waynesville, Bryson City, and Asheville with a wonderful view from the front porch. However, the property was in need of repairs such as broken screen door hinges, charcoal tray in the grill (used rocks to level), outside steps and banister, and outdoor lighting. Also, batteries were dead in the smoke detector, TV remote, and flashlight.

Kevin,
We ask all our guests to contact us immediately upon arrival if there is anything malfunctioning. You failed to do that. Maybe because it wasn't as bad as you described in your review. I checked all your complains upon reading your review. Smoke detectors in the cabin is hard wired and the battery only works if power goes out. Battery in tv remote was working properly. Charcoal grill has a block under leg to keep the grill level on an uneven spot in yard. One screw was missing from the hinge on screen door. ( Fixed)

Feedback on deer country no. 2 cabin
Cabin was nice but very expensive compared to previous rentals. Steps to the cabin were in bad shape with tripping hazards. Picnic table condition was awful. Unusual requirement for renter to dispose trash into the county trash facilities.
We stayed for a long weekend for our 40th wedding anniversary. It was a cold weekend but very warm inside. The beds were very comfortable and wifi was great. We will visit again!
The cabin was nice, good location to get the Smokey mountain feel, but be close to Waynesville and Asheville. We had a great time and hope to return someday.
We had to rebook a cabin from HomeAway and they gave us opportunity to get a cabin from Ray. He let us rent the Cabin on short notice. When we got to the cabin it was ready for us and it was easy to find. It has an awesome view in the morning, I would recommend it to everyone.
Ray is someone that takes care of his quest, so thanks Ray.

Our family had a nice short stay at this cabin. It was small and cozy and we loved the loft bedrooms. It worked well for the 6 of us and our dog.

Pet-friendly & Quiet
This was just right for a two-night stay during the eclipse, but I would have liked to stay even longer. Comfortable sofas, beds, and a nice porch. Our only negative was having to take our trash with us when we left--understandable, though, with the abundant wildlife nearby.
