We love the location of the cottage too, a quiet area of The Bay with our lovely patio overlooking the gardens...my favourite place for a cup of tea (Yorkshire or Betty's of course!) and a book on sunny mornings before the family get out of bed! We like to think of the cottage as being a home from home and we agree the area is great and we are so pleased you enjoyed it.It really is a lovely walk along the beach to Filey. We also like to walk to the Cleveland Way from the cottage and regularly enjoy the walk along the coast to Scarborough (and then catch the bus back!). We hope to welcome you back soon.

I am delighted that you enjoyed your long weekend break and that you found Aubergine Cottage to be a home from home. Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. I am gutted to read that the cleanliness of the cottage fell short of the high standards we set for ourselves and my sincere apologies for this. On check in you found that the cleanliness was not up to our high standards, and you were able to follow the procedure we outlined for such rare eventualities. On that basis our housekeeper sent a team of three cleaners within one hour of your phone call to do a mini deep clean. I am therefore surprised at your rating of 1/5. Anthony also arranged a cash gesture of good will in order for you to enjoy a drink at the on site pub whilst the cleaning procedures took place. During your stay a light bulb ‘went’ in the downstairs toilet and the toilet roll holder in the en suite shower room worked loose. You mentioned that you did not require a call out for these minor issues as it would not adversely affect your holiday, and both of these issues were corrected within half an hour of you checking out. You mentioned in your e mail that the customer service and communication had been to a high standard and therefore I am surprised that you rated this as 3/5. If you stay with us again, please note that the phone numbers for the housekeeper, Anchor Bay holidays and myself (as the owner) are clearly displayed and we are always open to being contacted as we all want you to have the best holiday experiences possible.

Hi - thanks for taking the time to do the review. We are so glad we got the furniture repaired for you so quickly. The previous repair was to the table not the bench - we have now taken delivery as soon as you reported the fault of a stunning brand new table and bench set. We would have had it for you before your stay but there was a problem with the supplier. We look forward to welcoming you to Aubergine and experiencing the new furniture.
