As good as it gets!

A beautiful cottage in a marvelous (fairly remote) location, wonderfully well appointed and superbly comfortable. There was more to do and see than we had time for ( a five might stay) but no doubt we will be back. The sheepdog demo near Hawes is highly recommended, and is the sheep auction on Tuesdays. In short, this is one of the best, of not the best cottages we have ever stayed in.

Thinking of North Yorkshire, I see wide rivers flowing sluggishly through endless lowlands.

A Reading Rooms heaven

After experiencing Oughtershaw Hall with the whole family on several occasions we were really looking forward to a relaxing week with friends in the Reading rooms. We were not disappointed! A very different experience in a beautifully appointed cottage with the constant sound of the river in the background. Loved it. Every small detail seemed to have been covered - even downtown the auto night lights in the bathrooms. Nice too to have two sitting areas to enjoy a quiet moment or two. We will definitely return.

Return visit to this quiet rural hamlet

We are a retired couple who have returned to this peaceful high speck conversion. The stream is adjacent with bird life. Plenty of garden and outdoor eating space. Local walks but the car is needed for proper exploration. Hawes not far, with pub/restaurants and market. Home of Wensleydale cheeses. We will be back next year with friends Local agent Ben is excellent

We had a wonderful stay — the house was immaculate throughout, with a clean, modern finish and everything looking brand new. It was stocked with absolutely everything you could need for a week, and the thoughtful hamper was a lovely touch. The garden was beautiful, with the sound of water and a perfectly kept lawn creating a really relaxing space. Immaculate inside and out, it made for a perfect break. We didn’t want to leave.

Good communication with our host prior to our stay. Cottage is really well equipped, particularly in the kitchen. We will return I am sure. Be aware the cottage is in a very remote location.

Wonderful cottage in the Dales

Fabulous stay in this wonderful cottage. So comfortable, good quality linen and towels , plenty of hot water and the most comprehensively equipped kitchen I have encountered in a holiday rental for years . The house was immaculately clean , with a good supply of logs for the woodburner. Situated in a very quiet part of the Dales , with walking straight from the door , we couldn’t have asked for more and highly recommend.

Thank you for a wonderful time away!

The Reading Rooms were amazing - beautifully managed and cleaned by Ben and Janet. All our communication with Catch the Breeze was extremely helpful and we could not fault them. The location of the Reading Rooms is fairly remote but that was just what we needed with beautiful scenery and walks on the doorstep or a short scenic drive away. Thank you so much!

A dream get away!

We stayed in the reading rooms for 1 week with our young children and when you arrive you are greeted by a clean house filled with a thoughtful welcome hamper and all the things required for a relaxing stay. The house was totally spotless and fantastically furnished - we truly felt at home as soon as we walked in! There was an issue with the local water and Ben the house manager informed us straight away and provided bottles of water throughout the stay. The location is very remote but this is what we wanted. However there is so much to explore all within a 30 minute drive so it’s really ideal. The immediate surroundings are simply stunning as is the garden and stream. We really were blown away and our expectations were completely smashed by the cosy cottage we got to call home. We are already planning on booking again next year. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience and explore the Dales, you’ll only regret not booking for longer. Thanks to all the team!

Peace and Tranquility with bird song and running water!

The Reading Rooms is yet another perfect property by Catch the Breeze. As you would expect the standard and the finish of the property was excellent. Two very comfortable spacious bedrooms left no-one thinking they had the small room. Good sized shower rooms with large heated towel rails for that extra bit of luxury. The layout downstairs was perfect with two lovely sitting areas (loads of room for everyone to sit comfortably) separated by the kitchen/diner with everything you could possibly need for eating in. Outside the river at the bottom of the garden was a real treat with lots of birds and livestock in the neighbouring fields. Lots of walking from the doorstep and very close by. The property was very rural and car journeys are very slow which may not suit everyone - no popping back to the shop if you forget something! All in all a fantastic stay and the Catch the Breeze team on hand if needed.

A perfect peaceful escape

We had the most wonderful stay at The Reading Rooms in the Yorkshire Dales. From the moment we arrived, it was clear how much care and attention has gone into the place – it’s absolutely immaculate, with an outstanding finish throughout. Everything you could possibly need is provided, making it feel like a true home from home, just with much better views! The location is beautifully remote, perfect for switching off and unwinding, with serene countryside all around. Waking up to the sight of sheep and lambs grazing nearby was such a lovely touch and really added to the whole experience. We also made the most of the local area, including a visit to Hawes and the Wensleydale Creamery, which is a must. A Sunday lunch at The White Hart Inn was another highlight – highly recommended and the perfect way to round off the weekend. If you’re looking for a peaceful, high-quality escape in a stunning setting, The reading rooms from Catch the Breeze is hard to beat, like all their properties We’ll definitely be back.

Idyllic Luxury in the heart of the Dales

We had the most wonderful stay, a beautiful home which was hard to leave, but when we did the property is perfectly located to get to experience the beauty that is The Dales. the fact we could walk outside and be on the Dales Way was beautiful. We took our Labrador and the property as well as the surroundings were just perfect for a week away with the dog. Ben was brilliant and checked in to make sure we had what we need. The welcome hamper for us and the dog were such lovely touches. The most comfortable bed! Did not want to leave, we will be finding more of the properties to stay in across the UK. Can not recommend enough!!

A Truly Wonderful Stay at The Reading Rooms - We'll be back!

We had the most fantastic stay at The Reading Rooms in this peaceful and picturesque spot in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. We enjoyed walks right from our doorstep and ventured out to The Wensleydale Creamery and Hardraw Force enjoying a superb pub lunch at The Green Dragon Inn. The cottage itself felt like a real home from home - such a perfect place to unwind and relax! It is beautifully equipped with everything you could possibly need - we even managed to do some baking during our stay! We loved the TV/snug room which gave the children their own space to hang out. The bedrooms were incredibly comfortable, with fresh high-quality linens. We all slept so well here! Outside the garden is simply lovely - it borders a charming beck and is a glorious peaceful space to sit. We were lucky with the weather so managed to enjoy some outdoor dining and we loved sitting outside with our morning coffee. It is clear that a lot of care has gone into making this a truly special place to stay and can't wait to come back!

The best equiped holiday-let we have ever stayed in.

The Reading Rooms were spacious, comfortable, clean and superbly equiped. We like to cook all our own meals and the kitchen had everything we needed. It even had a lemon zester. The setting was lovely and sitting out in the garden enjoying the stream and birds was so peaceful.
