The cottages are in a beautiful area with lots of options for boating and exploring the Trent Severn waterway. The cottage we stayed in could use a little paint and maintenance on the deck and on the doors, but was overall comfortable, clean and easy to access. The owner communicated promptly.
While overall the cottage and the location exceeded my expectations, I couldn't give a full 5 stars as there were multiple minor deficiencies, but nothing bad enough to ruin the vacation.
The location was perfect, especially if you own a boat. You access to Tea Lake and another waterway in Big Chute. The cottage was lovely with all of the amenities and functional air-conditioning which was key! Overall, very nice venue for a friend outing or a family!
This is my second time staying on the property just the different cottage on the property. Very happy with both cottages… our property manager (Henry) is excellent. Whenever I had a question about something it was always there with a quick reply. Very impressed!
Overall our stay was very good and we would definitely come back again!PROS: Check in was easy, no problem with door code Kitchen facilities: Coffee maker wasn't working, but otherwise the kitchen was well equipped with dishes and other basics including an air fryer!WIFI was goodAC worked very wellLots of outdoor equipment for water activities including kayaks, canoes & even pedal boats!Outdoor bbqCONS: No dishwasherWater pressure was low on days when all 3 cottages were booked, however when 1 cottage was empty the pressure was good. Thanks for a lovely holiday!

A little bit of heaven
What a great place! Very cozy and comfortable. The view out the window is fantastic! Its located within 30 minutes to several places; skiing, snow shoeing, wineries, conservation areas. We had a perfect day for cross country skiing at Wye Marsh about 30 minutes from the cottage. A visit here again in the summer is on my bucket list!
Our hosts were very friendly and quick to respond to any emails I sent requesting information prior to our stay. Highly recommend The Hummingbird Tea Lake Cottages.
No AC, landlord informed me two days before the trip.
Dirty water and smell awful, can not use the water for cooking or shower.
Mouse is everywhere so that daughters and grand kids could not sleep at night.
booked for two nights stay but had to leave early.
Unfortunately we had a very uncomfortable experience due to non-operational air conditioning units. The lack of cooling led to three sweltering nights, making it difficult for us and especially for our kids, who struggled with the warm and humid conditions. The discomfort significantly impacted our stay. We asked owner to provide us portable A/C or moving to other unit with working A/C, but he easily said: "I don't have." and nothing more.
Actually I don't suggest this property and owner.

Weekend stay
The property is shared closely by 3 cottages. Upon arrival we had difficulty entering because of a faulty door latch. It was obvious this latch has been repaired Several times in the past but not properly and was a problem our entire stay. Several dead bugs on the floor upon our entry although the listing clearly stated that cottages were cleaned in-between rentals. The main problem was no water. I messaged the owner and a few hours later he called back. By that time the water had retuned to a useable rate. The owner stated that " the water is shared by all 3 cottages so around check in time it's low". The water wasn't low it was non existent. No water to flush the toilet, no water to shower. Sunday after the biggest of the 3 cottages left the water was still not reliable. Non of my children were able to shower during our stay.
Unfortunately there were a lot of things wrong with this Cottage it had not been maintained . There were cracks in the walls , broken floorboards ,the front door would not open fully. and the double walkouts were wrapped in rope to keep it closed. The air conditioning also did not work only blowing warm air even after reseting the breaker. With the hot cotage we has trouble sleeping and we left early. We are very disappointed about the maintenance of the cottage communication with a host did nothing to address the issues we would not recommend staying in this Cottage

Basic cottage
The Hummingbird cottage is your typical Muskoka cottage, but without waterfront. You have access to the water and the dock by walking around and between the other two cottages on the property.
The cottage itself is nicely decorated and has all you need - although no kids dinnerware even though that's listed in amenities. Bedding and towels were provided.
We were not surprised to have to contend with mice, ants and ripped screens - it's a cottage. We were not prepared, however, for the smell of the water. A few days before arrival we were informed that the water is not considered safe to drink. Again, it's a cottage so we were prepared to deal with that with purification tablets and boiling the water. But the smell! No amount of purification or boiling took away the sulphur smell that filled the cottage every time we ran a tap to boil water or wash dishes. I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned in other reviews.
I have been going up to Tea Lake since the mid 1960's. I have a lifetime of memories. My mom passed two years ago and had sold the property we had owned for almost 40 years. As my parents and step-dad are laid to rest near there, I wanted to go back to relax and relive memories.
We arrived after dark and has some difficulty find the cottage. The sign is broken and not lit. A motion sensor light would help. The place itself was not cleaned and prepared for our arrival. Speaking with the property manager, the matter was resolved. As I was staying a week, the kitchen cupboards were all filled with dishes. I had nowhere to store my dry goods. The oven didn't work except on broil. Figuring out heat as nights got extremely cold overnight was not readily available.
I enjoyed my time but improvements would need to happen for me to choothe cottage again.
Quaint cottage and very peaceful experience. Lake is beautiful surrounded by trees looks to go on forever. Enjoyed our family time there. Will definitely be going back.

Overall was a good stay
I feel the owner should have clarified that it was a shared dock. The info online made it seem that it was secluded, however we had to walk through our neighbors yard to get to the water and dock. Also, it was so close to the neighbors that we felt bad having a conversation outside in the fire pit. Overall we had a good time though. The owner was super nice.
Had a great time renting the property with my family and another family. The property had everything we needed and had a fun time. Shared property but everyone was friendly and host wad easy to get a hold of
The owners of the place are wonderful! The cottage is cozy and the area is BEAUTIFUL, definitely my type of place. We had a great time exploring the area including Big Chute which is just down the road and there is a free boat launch just a few minutes down the road for six mile lake. Also loved relaxing by the personal bonfire every evening. Would 100% recommend for a relaxing getaway
I rented this cottage for myself, my children and grandchildren. We had a perfect week. My grandson caught his first fish. My granddaughter got brave enough to jump off the dock with no puddle jumper. We spent perfect lazy days floating in the lake, picnicking by the doc , exploring and relaxing.
The cottage is simple but perfect for what we needed. Roasting marshmallows and or hot dogs over the campfire every night my grandchildren have lifetime memories to cherish.
I would happily return again.
