Holly,
Thank you for choosing Stepaside for your fun family celebration on Lake Norman. You were wonderful guests and I hope you return in the future.
Thank you for your suggestions to make guests stay more complete. All have been implemented.

Wonderful quiet neighborhood. The views of the lake are beautiful from this property! Loved that the house had enough bedroom space for all our family.
Brenda was a wonderful host! She’s the first one we’ve ever had to greet us at our property and check in periodically. She provided details for local eats and connections for boat rentals. She truly went above and beyond and was always a text away! Highly recommend. The property was very spacious and clean. It met all of our expectations. We will be repeat customers when our travels bring us back to Lake Norman. The views were everything we had hoped for and the fishing didn’t let us down either. We had a relaxing waterfront vacation with memories to last a lifetime.
This property is on a peninsula with just a few other houses. Very peaceful, right on the water, just beautiful scenery. Home had more room than we anticipated from the listing, so plenty of space for several people. Our dogs loved it as there was a boat ramp where they could enter and exit the lake easily.

Karen,
I am so glad you enjoyed your Stepaside vacation. You re welcome to return any time
This vacation home has lovely, open water views both front and back, and the location is tranquil yet close to shopping, restaurants and marina. Brenda is very responsive to questions and helpful. We really enjoyed the porch, fire pit, dock and boat ramp. (Our Labrador wanted to swim constantly!) Great area for long walks, too.
Thank you, Brenda!

Great location
We truly did enjoy our stay, the location is great! The kids loved being right in the lake. Good private neighborhood. And the neighbors were very friendly.
I’ve never met an owner of the home I was renting, and Brenda was there twice, to be honest it felt invasive and off putting.
The kitchen is infested with ants. Make sure you leave absolutely nothing on the counters.
We did enjoy our vacation, but the house is in some need of a little TLC

Genna,
I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Lake Norman.
As the owner of the property, I always advise guest I open the house at their arrival time and check them in. I will pick up garbage 1 time during their stay in order to keep garbage from attracting animals. . Guest receive a text on each occasion prior to visit.
The ant issue has been taken of.
Thank you for leaving the house clean at your departure.
We were looking for a smaller house that had a dock for our boat. The bonus was the private ramp. It’s a little tight but our boat is 26 feet and we managed. The communication with the owner was outstanding. If you needed anything you just send them a text. Answered right away. We forgot our boil pot and they brought one over to use. The house is secluded towards the end of point. We definitely recommend this place.

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay at Stepaside. Your family was a delight.

What a great week! The house is conveniently located, but also lots of privacy. We were able to easily boat or drive to area restaurants. My fellas had a great time fishing in the evenings. The catfish were huge and plentiful to catch. The yard is great for your fur babies as it is mostly fenced. We didn’t have to worry about them running off. Local shopping was great with lots of unique boutiques and name brand stores. Our host, Brenda was great. She made sure everything was as it should be and even checked on us by phone when an unexpected storm came through. We would definitely recommend and book again. If only I could live here year round. ❤️

I am glad you had a great vacation at Stepaside! You are welcome to to return anytime.
We enjoyed our stay. Great views, especially sunsets. Property is a bit dated, which is fine just letting people know. It was overall pretty clean. Expected a little bit better quality and included amenities (hand soap was watered down, no dishwasher soap, etc). Also if you have allergies you may not want to stay here, it smelled like dogs when we entered and my brother-in-law (who isn't allergic to dogs but has allergies) struggled with this allergies so not sure what triggered them. It was also the most involved set of check out instructions I've seen, it asked us to vacuum, wash+put away dishes and we paid a cleaning fee!

Steve,
I am glad you enjoyed your stay. It is a beautiful lake location.
I am sorry to hear your brother- in- law had allergy issues. The Charlotte area is a very bad area for allergies particularly in November. I have experienced this myself for the first few years of living in the area with a fever and ear infections. I have since taken allergy pills to alleviate the problem. .
No guests nor dogs had stayed in the house for a 3 week period prior to your stay. Dogs are allowed to stay and the cleaners are very observant of this when cleaning and disinfecting.
I do ask guest to do basic cleanup prior to leaving as is stated online and in a printed form inside the house. I thank you for doing this.

Intrusive owner/outdated house/amazing lake views
The title sums it up.
Pros:
1. Amazing lake view as house is on peninsula
2. Good house layout (very comfortable for large family)
3. Great private dock
Cons:
1. Owner intruded upon our privacy, causing a generally awkward and uncomfortable feeling with my family. We were two families staying together (4 adults, 2 teens and 3 children). The children were genuinely freaked out by Brenda, the owner, who was in the house nearly every day. First, it was a problem with tv remote -- we said ok (but this required multiple entries into the house.) Then it was a broken shade.
She let herself in nearly everyday when we were not home. My husband actually told her we did not want her coming into the house while we were staying there. We use vacation rentals yearly all over the world and have never had an owner intrude on our privacy like this. For this reason alone, I would not return to this house.
2. House is very dated. It appeared the kitchen appliances were original to the house (probably atleast 50 years old). There were no updates to this house.
I really feel badly putting in this review, but I have never had such an experience where an owner made everyone feel very uncomfortable with their constant appearance at the house.

I am glad you enjoyed the house layout, dock and lake views which are awesome .
Apologies for the intrusions on your privacy. Explanations are warranted .
I entered my rental the first 3 days of your stay. You were present 2 times for our short discussion, you were out during the third visit.
As you stated, the TV remote had to be replaced ( the prior guest had misplaced the remote and kindly sent a new one.) . It was presented to you that an IT person would need to come in if you approved . It was agreed and a time was set for the next day. Unfortunately the new remote did not work and another was ordered which again was discussed with you; another appointment was set up. . At that time you told me your son had broken the window blind. I accompanied the IT person the next day with a another new remote and it was installed. You were out the day of installation. I attempted to replace the broken blind but a part of installation had been removed from the new blind box left inside the rental. You asked your son if he would be ok without the blind, he was ok with that.
In summary, I generally greet guest and do not see them again unless they need something or their garbage is being picked up. I mistakenly assumed that your family would want to use the TV during your stay and acted accordingly. When you told me about the broken blind, I again assumed it should be replaced for privacy reasons until you said otherwise. Your husband did not tell me he did not want me to enter the rental during your stay. I would have gladly completed repairs after your departure.
Generally guest are quite happy working with me. I am sorry you were not.
This place is bigger than it looks. You can see the water from every room in the house. The fire pit was nice to have. We had to leave one day early and the owner refunded us for that day even though she didn't have to. I would definitely stay there again.
Everything was great. The only few things that could have been better where the silverware was dirty (we had to wash before using because some had food on it. The jet tub should not be advertised since it doesn’t work. Otherwise it was awesome
The house was easy to find and had good access to amenities etc. It has views from every room and dock and cove are great for swimming and kayaking. The boat ramp provided a way for my handicapped mother to access the water and the dogs loved it too. The house was very comfortable if a bit older. There were a few wonky lights but the only reason I took a star off is that while it worked fine the oven heating element was not very secure and the knob only had the word bake on it. One time it got left on (not for long) as someone turned it off the wrong way and put it on an unmarked setting. Without off being marked I thought it maybe a bit dangerous. I am sure this is an easy fix. We had a lovely stay and it was perfect for out family and we would happily stay again.
We had a blast. I love the location of this lake house. You can see the lake from every room in the house. It seems like we were either gathering in the kitchen or outside. The kitchen has an island that is great for meal prep. There is a huge picnic table outside by the lake that we enjoyed using. This isn’t a fancy upscale house but an inviting, laidback, comfortable house. The pier can get hot so be sure to bring flip flops.

A New Years 2020 Getaway and Celebration with Friends!
We arrived to find this lovely lake house nice a cozy with the lights on for us. The views of the lake and sunsets were absolutely beautiful. The house was very convenient to area grocery stores and restaurants. The kitchen/dining area was great for us to cook meals together and dine in over the holiday. Brenda, our host, was just awesome to work with and very accommodating! We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Step-Aside and hope to return again one day.

Value (?)
I feel this property is overpriced for what it is,
(Modular Home)and if you’re not boating during your stay.
I do understand the location and value of the properties near the Point...we had a great time because of having family together.
Brenda was super friendly and allowed us to check-in early, as well as stopping by to verify all was well.
This house is a spacious ranch home in a beautiful location in an area of million-dollar mansions. Other reviews spoke of the mismatched furniture, and that is true. It does seem like the owner sends her cast-offs to the rental property, so there is an over-abundance of seating. One issue that we had was that there was no empty dresser in the master bedroom for unpacking, but the owner said she may change that. Also, the master bath is badly in need of renovation. However, it is functional for a week's stay. The location on the lake is perfect if you have a boat, with a launch right on the property. The shore is all rock, so it probably wouldn't be great for small kids. The lake is beautiful and the guys had good luck with fishing. Lots of bass. Their most fun catch was a 10-lb. alligator gar fish! The owner Brenda lives close by and is very responsive to any needs. We had an issue with the water pump (it has a well), but she was on top of it immediately and she even offered to send us to a hotel during the inconvenience, which we thought was unnecessary. All in all, a nice relaxing getaway.
