Stayed 8 days and the house was simply wonderful for comfort, space, and central location. Equipped with everything you need.
Beds were very comfortable and we slept well.
Myself, son and grandson enjoyed our stay immensely. The front porch was fantastic and favorite place!
The Chestnut House was a very comfortable option for us. The thing that really stuck out to us was the thoughtfulness of the host. A bottle of wine was left for us, an ample supply of coffee available, lots of toilet paper and kitchen supplies. The house had everything we needed including a desk for my wife to work at. It is an older house and so some of the spaces are small like the bathroom and kitchen, but it was completely functional and nicely done given the space limitations.
We had a fabulous time at the Chestnut house. It was a great location for going back & forth from family in Lenexa and our grandkids absolutely loved the play area upstairs!! House was clean, comfy, lovely and quiet. Hosts were kind and wonderful too. We would definitely stay again. Thanks Larry and Babbie!! J. & J.
We needed a place to stay while waiting for our house to be built. The Chestnut House was so much better than having to squeeze our family of five into a hotel room or friends’ basement for a few weeks. We loved having a playroom upstairs for our boys to “be boys”—and so many books to read! Larry was very accommodating. Thank you!
It was so nice to be in a home away from home. Our kids enjoyed the upstairs play room and playing on the front porch exploring. We even saw a few bunnies roaming in the yard. What a delight:) Thank you!!
I enjoyed my time at the Chestnut House. The weather was so hot I didn't get to use the lively front porch .very much but did get to walk the neighborhood and explore early in the day. Highest marks to Larry Fry for answering requests and replying to messages in a speedy manner. I understand why he is a superhost.
This historical house was a great place for our family to get away. The neighborhood was quiet and the front porch was a delight. We were very comfortable here and loved our stay!

Beautiful weekend with our grown children.
As several reviewers previously stated, "the front porch is the place to be!" We spent lots of time just visiting and soaking up the warm sunshine on the porch. The Historic Chestnut house was clean and comfortable. Living room has lots of seating. Kitchen was well-equipped and beds were cozy. Larry was nice to work with and very accommodating. We had a great time on our mini-vacation!

Awesome Home W/Character
We loved staying here for a few days when we were in town looking for homes. We have two little kids and they loved the playroom upstairs with all the toys. Grandma that came with loved the front porch and we sat out there every night. I would highly recommend staying here next time you are in town. Cheers

Chestnut house
The only reason it doesn't have 5 stars is because of only having one bathroom. We stayed over the Thanksgiving holidays to be closer to family and had a great time. The house is fully stocked with everything you would need to feel at home. The only kitchen accessory that was missing was a cookie sheet but we improvised! My kids also had a wonderful time with the upstairs play room. Thanks Larry!

Very Nice
Great place to stay. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is the bathroom is tiny, it’s the only one in the house and it’s between the 2 bedrooms. That’s not the owners fault, just beware if you are staying there with a larger group of people. The house is very nice and clean and the owner is very responsive.

Great home for the family
Beautiful home. Our kids loved the play room upstairs and tried there best to read all the books in the shelf during our long weekend. Larry was a great host and very responsive throughout the process. Highly recommended!

Beautiful cozy historic home! This house is loaded with charm and comfort.
We enjoyed our stay at the Chestnut House. We were there for a little over a month to visit our daughter and family. Larry is a wonderful host!! The location of this house is perfect. A quick walk to the library and coffee shops. Also very close to restaurants and shopping. Our grandkids came over a few times and they loved the room upstairs. They played with the toys and loved the easel for drawing! Our 3 year old loved the fire truck!! The dining room has a beautiful long table for family eating! The master bedroom has a comfy king size bed with a nice office attached. The fire place in the living room was cozy. We can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was!! We joined the Olathe Community Center for a month. This is a beautiful facility. We used the exercise equipment, the pools and hot tub. Just a short drive away. We enjoyed the dinner theater named the New Theater, we saw Cindy Williams in “Barefoot in the Park”. Fantastic show!! Favorite restaurants were Kmachos (Mexican food), Strips, Dub V’s, Joe’s BBQ, Granite City, Llewelyn’s, Chili’s, Schlotzky’s and Sheridan’s Frozen Custard. Thank you Larry!!

Charming older home with wanted conveniences
Spent Thanksgiving with family at the Chestnut House. Liked the appeal - warm Nov. weather and the group spent an afternoon at a nearby nature center for trail walking. We also had early Christmas - able to open gifts on the big front porch! Kitchen and bathroom are small - as in older homes - but the amenities in each make up for size. Great variety of cooking utensils and eating dishes in the kitchen. Many towels, etc. in the bathroom so no one was without needs! Owner very responsive to all our questions - before and during our stay.
