The Best of Both Worlds! Casual beach house living with all the modern updates!

Kick off your shoes and come on in! Our absolutely charming, historic house is truly one of a kind. This is one of Bay Head's original houses and has been well maintained and newly renovated. We have lovingly kept everything as original as possible while adding all the modern conveniences needed.
The large kitchen honors its original layout and includes new cabinets, appliances and flooring. The newly renovated upstairs bathroom and new powder room on the first floor are up-to-date with an antique flair. A second bathroom upstairs features new fixtures and new glass enclosed shower. The woodwork in the house was done by expert craftsmen of its day and remains an artistic treasure.
All mattresses are new and comfortable. Washer/dryer and outdoor shower are new additions. The old-fashioned rocker front porch offers ocean breezes, a lake view and great people-watching. You'll find that the neighborhood is quiet yet interesting, beautiful, and convenient to everything. This home is truly a treasure which we hope you will appreciate as much as we do. Welcome to Bay Head, which some call "Nantucket to the South".

Short walk to the beach, the lake (which is a saltwater inlet where the kids went crabbing and fishing), as well as to the town. We loved that our large family could walk around

Perfect Bay Head location

Great place for friends to relax and is close to anything you need in Bay Head while just a block and a half from the beach. Owners were great to deal with. Can’t wAit to go back!

Great house, great location!

Friends and family really enjoyed our time spent here. The house is very spacious and charming, with lots of nooks and crannies to explore. Kids and grownups alike enjoyed the carefree living and strolls around town. With the beach right down the block, it's pretty close to perfect. Will definitely be back!

The Perfect Spot

This is a great house for a casual and relaxing week at the sore. A 2 minute walk to the beach and to the local stores and restaurants. Some nice improvements since last year, such as installation of second indoor shower and upgrading backyard space really made the house more inviting.

An old house, but unbeatable location only a block from downtown Bay Head and two blocks from the beach. I didn't love having to order linens, but it wasn't that bad or expensive. In fact, it was relatively convenient other than the fact that you had to order everything. Now that we know the process (for ordering the linens), we'll be back next summer. Host was very responsive to help with the linens.

Great beach vacation.

Our second year at this property. Excellent for our family! Beautiful house close to beach. Great kitchen well stocked with all cooking supplies Large backyard to have family dinners and play games like corn hole! Loved the front porch. Bakery and restaurants and small store a short walk away Owner responds quickly to questions. The only down side was construction at the property behind that was noisy all day. We would definitely return and recommend!

Perfect Getaway!

My family and I all had a fantastic time at this rental. The house was everything you would want in a beach town house. You get the best of the ocean a block away and the bay is a stone's throw away. Walking distance to great shops and restaurants. The house itself is perfect for a large family with all of the amenities. Fully equipped kitchen and plenty of room for dining indoors or sit on the beautiful front porch to enjoy the sea air. The bedrooms are all beautifully decorated with lots of room for all ages. The house has the feel of the traditional old beach house with all of the updated features rentals are looking for. We will definitely be back for another stay at this house. Evelyn is a great hostess and we won't hesitate to book again! Thanks for the memories!

Dishonor by the sea.

There was only 1 indoor shower in this 6 bedroom house. The second bathroom had a shower under construction needing a glass enclosure. When I booked this property 5 full months before our rental began I explained to the owner that the second shower was a necessity for our reunion party of 10 and it would be a 'deal breaker' (my exact words) if they could not meet this requirement. My sister who inspected the property several months after the booking reiterated my exact words and again there was agreement with the owners. Despite our verbal agreement and without any notice from the owners in advance of the last cancellation date, when we arrived for our vacation there was still only 1 indoor shower. The owners were unwilling to discuss even a reasonable accommodation in the form of a rental reduction for their failure to provide the second shower. They further denied that I ever said this would be a 'deal breaker'. My advice to anyone who rents this property is to get everything in writing from the owners, who cannot be trusted to honor a verbal promise.

This property has a long history of happy, repeat tenants with not one complaint or any damage. The installation of a third shower was never advertised, nor promised. While your desire for an additional shower was discussed and appreciated, it was relayed to you and your sister multiple times that supply chain issues impacting the construction industry prevent any guarantee of a delivery date or installation. During your stay your party had access to the master bathroom shower as well as a private enclosed outdoor shower as fully disclosed on the rental site and seen in person during your courtesy walk through of the property per your additional request. Whereas we delivered everything that was stipulated in the rental agreement and took extra steps to accommodate your party, you chose to violate the rental agreement by parking an unauthorized camper next to the house thereby damaging the in-ground sprinkler system not to mention the three foot hole that you left in the wall of the master bedroom. Thank you for following the VRBO instructions to obtain insurance for your stay. May your next vacation, wherever it may be, be successful.

Amazing Bay Head

Beautifully restored 1880s home with all the modern conveniences! A great kitchen. Plenty of bedrooms for our group of 12. A short walk the the beach that is very quiet. A shaded back yard with a grill which was perfect for family dinners outside and lawn games! The house came with all you could need- the kitchen equipped with all items, bicycles, beach chairs, board games etc! Bay Head is a lovely community quiet with much to walk to! (Restaurants and Muellers bakery and Burkes market!) We were close enough to point pleasant boardwalk for those who wanted to go as well! Highly recommend ! Laura was pleasant and knowledgeable and available if needed!

Bay Head

This property was in a great location!! So convenient to the beach access. Clean and a wonderful old "Bay Header" house with interesting history. It fit our large family nicely. The updated kitchen and bathrooms were a huge plus. The only thing I would say is that it says queen size beds but they were full size. Not a deal breaker for sure, but something you should know. Spent most of the time on the large screened in front porch. :) Also great to have bikes to use. They came in handy. Most definitely a winner!!

True gem!

Really enjoyed our stay at this charming, wood-paneled house and would rent it again without reservation. It is very centrally located to town; within walking distance of bakery, restaurants, cheese shop, etc. It is a block from the beach and half a block from the lake where there are beautiful sunsets every night. The house itself was very clean and well equipped with new appliances, crisp sheets and plenty of kitchenware. Enjoyed bikes, gas grill, outdoor shower and screened in front porch for cocktails. Recently added central air was a major plus! Owners were very responsive to questions. We grew up in Bay Head and know the town well. This property is a true gem.

What makes this property unique

One of Bay Head's original houses that has been well maintained and newly renovated. Built in Princeton in the late 1880's and moved to Bay Head in the early 1900's, this home belonged to one of the early settlers of Bay Head. It remained the summer home of the original family until 2017. Prime location on quiet side street just 6 houses from the beach, 3 houses from the lake. Walking distance to shops, restaurants, and NYC train.
