Get away from your busy life. Nestled along Fountain creek bubbling beneath blue spruce pines this caboose is the perfect place to relax, unwind and explore. Enjoy nature overlooking the creek from your private hot tub on the deck. Located within walking distance of secluded hiking trails and the Wines of Colorado. This 1972 built caboose was purchased from the Illinois Central Railroad after it was decommissioned, went to the Monticello Railway Museum and subsequently moved to this property in 2006. It has since been tastefully renovated with a full bathroom, clawfoot tub and large living area with sink, fridge and microwave. The private deck has a hot tub on it where you can relax and spend time with your favorite person. Staying here feels like stepping into the past where history comes to life with every charming detail.

One of the best things about this property is its proximity to exploration and attractions. You can head deeper into the mountains and visit Woodland Park or down into Colorado Springs within 10 minutes. Some of the highlights close by:

Fabulous trip, beautiful country, awesome caboose. The location is ideal for day trips to many great places. The caboose is just the right size for two. As we don’t like to eat every meal out, having the grill, mini fridge, and microwave was a huge help. We also greatly enjoyed the hot tub and used it everyday. The lot size was smaller than anticipated but still enjoyable.

This cozy little caboose was exactly what we needed for a short little getaway. There is no stovetop but there is a microwave and a grill. We spent most of our time enjoying the outdoors and the local shops/restaurants in Manitou Springs so we did not utilize the kitchen area much. No AC, but the caboose sits in a wooded area with lots of air movement. We opened the windows and turned on the fans which kept it quite cool (in August!). I contacted the owner once through the VRBO app and the response was immediate. Overall, I was satisfied with the experience. The caboose is beautifully decorated and quite comfortable. I would recommend it for any couple looking for a short stay in the area who plan to enjoy what the surrounding community has to offer.
