My family and I stayed in this house for a week around Christmas. We had our Christmas Eve dinner there, and the house is really upgraded, clean, and equipped with tons of utilities and appliances—everything you could possibly need. We were very happy with our stay. I strongly recommend this property.

Beautifully updated century home
The house was beautiful, the town was lovely, and Linda was an absolute pleasure to deal with.
Thank you so much for renting out your home, it was just perfect for our weekend stay! Highly recommend!
We absolutely loved Linda's house.
There is literally everything you could possibly need to have a a great time.
We spent every day in the hottub, at the beach (walking distance) and at local shops and cafes
Linda was VERY responsive to any questions we had and was great at helping us with any and all questions we had leading up to and following our checkin
Thanks so much Linda for a great family vacay and memories for years to come!

This is a beautiful historic home with all the modern comforts. The kitchen is amazing!
Overall, we had a lovely vacation. The home is fully stocked and very comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub. Having the LCBO across the parking lot was convenient. It is also a close drive to many beautiful places. We will book this home again. Thanks Linda!

Alaina:
I'm sorry if this caused an inconvenience. I don't send out a welcome letter until 48 hours prior for security purposes. The lockbox code is included in the letter and I don't want renters having the code until a few days prior to their reservation.

Our party of six adults and three teens stayed at this home over the 2022 May long weekend to celebrate our friend’s 50th birthday. We had hoped to spend our evenings lounging in the hot tub but received a frenzied call from the owner, just before we arrived in Meaford, telling us that the hot tub wasn’t working. The owner compensated us financially so that the adults could use the Scandinave Spa and the teens could visit the “Plunge” waterpark at Blue Mountain (about 25 minutes away), but we were still disappointed that this amenity was not available as advertised and we were given such little notice.
Upon arrival, the house was lovely and appeared just as pictured online. But after closer inspection, the cobwebs on the light fixtures and on the chairs in the dining room showed that the home did not appear to have been maintained over the winter months and it required a better Spring cleaning. Several people in our party were also bothered by the dust throughout the home and were forced to take antihistamines throughout our stay.
The King and Queen beds were all quite comfortable with beautiful bedding, but the bunk beds were a disaster. Neither bunk bed had a mattress, just a regular box spring with what appeared to be an old futon mattress on top. They were incredibly uncomfortable and noisy (they creaked loudly anytime you moved). The top bunk was so close to the ceiling that you had to be very careful not to hit your head or come too close to the ceiling fan.
After three uncomfortable nights, we packed up our things from the kitchen, only to find fresh mouse droppings in one of the lazy susan’s – they definitely weren’t there when we arrived. That same morning, after we had all showered, we found a huge, dripping water stain in the dining room that appeared to be coming from the bathroom above. Thankfully we were on our way out and this did not affect our stay.
Unfortunately, our request to be reimbursed for the cleaning fee – in light of the dust and fresh mice droppings – was rejected by the owner, as was our request to be financially compensated for the poor night’s sleep in the bunk beds. The owner deemed our requests to be “unreasonable and without merit”, which is incredibly disappointing considering she reminded us several times that she was a credited “Superhost”. We think this title is greatly exaggerated.

I'm very, very disappointed in your review. The only time I heard from you was when you arrived and requested the code to the thermostat.
I did not hear from you in 3 days so I was not aware of your disappointment. This makes it extremely challenging for a host as you didn't give me an opportunity to fix what every you claim was not up to your standard.
You requested a credit of $400 for 3 nights for the hot tub not working which I approved immediately. I did find it excessive but didn't argue with you.
I take enormous pride in hosting my guests and am rated a SUPERHOST on another platform for over 3 years and that is the truth not an exaggeration.
I find your claims to be exaggerated!
As far as the "dust" I personally clean this home with another person and know it's cleaned to a high standard. I find it hard to believe that some of your guests had to use antihistamines for their 3 night stay. Why would you not have texted or called me to ask if the house could be dusted again while you were there? Do you think it may have been the spring pollen instead?
I found no evidence of cobwebs on the dining chairs or light fixtures.
I also did not find any evidence of mouse droppings.
The bunk bed is a standard height and so is the ceiling. There is a thick gel foam memory topper on the top bunk and a feather topper on the bottom bunk. Neither have a box spring as bunk beds are not built for them and they use a mattress only. I did the additional toppers for added comfort.
You did not follow the check out procedures at all. I could list all of the issues regarding your check out but it's a mute point.
You left 4 windows open and the air conditioning at 68 degrees. I'm sure you would be deeply disappointed in your guests if you were hosting your party. It was a total disregard for my property.
Do you go to a restaurant, finish your meal and then request a refund or discount because you didn't like it with no merit?
You requested an additional $300 discount which would have been a total discount of approximately 40% of what I would have received for your 3 night stay.
This home does NOT need a lot of work. Read all my reviews on this site and the other platform.
I am a 4.9 with 55 glowing reviews on another site and a 4.7 with 24 great reviews on this site.
Respectfully
Linda

Home was even better than the pictures! We had such a wonderful time at the house and Meaford is such a cute and quaint town. Highly recommend staying here. Thank you very much Linda.
A lovely little town and a comfy, well appointed property. Linda was a wonderful and responsive host. Our family really enjoyed the great living room, the movie collection, really well laid out kitchen and the property. We did trips to the lovey local beaches to swim, paddle board and windsurf, biked around the town and then relaxed in the hot tub! A great vacation!

Thank you for a wonderful summer getaway for three generations of our family. From the local beach to walking trails to shops to splash-pad playground, everything was within walking distance. Best of all was curling up in the backyard for family fun and enjoying the main floor living space. The house has it all! Linda is a warm and responsive host and our week away was everything we imagined. Kim and family

The area is very close to everything. Its walking distance to downtown Meaford. House is beautiful
We had a great time at this rental property! The house is beautiful. It has been renovated and is very modern. The reason for my rating is this...the main reason for choosing this house was the hot tub. We were going to be visiting Blue Mountain Village, Georgian Hills wine tasting and the weekend was due to be cold and rainy, we were looking forward to heading back and warming up in the hot tub. Upon arrival the tub was turned down so cold the first night it couldn't be used. No problem we sat in the house played some games had some drinks. Second night upon getting in the tub more than half the jets don't work. Only 2 spots worked kind of. The thermostat is locked (which I understand) however the ceiling fan in the bedroom which had no windows was so dirty we didn't want to turn it on. There was no hand soap in the kitchen or main bathroom no garbage can in bathroom either. The bathroom sink didn't look like it had been cleaned at all. Yet we were charged a cleaning fee so the house is presentable for the next renters. We were asked to enter through the backyard which had cigarette butts on the ground, the fire pit was covered in them, debris everywhere and was very unkempt, not inviting at all. We paid a lot of money for 2 nights and the owner didn't have the respect to email me back with an explanation, an apology, comment, nothing. I feel she had my money no need for further communication.

I'm very disappointed in your review as it's not accurate.
You emailed me on Sunday evening after your departure with your issues. It's like getting food at a restaurant and complaining after you've eaten your meal that it was cold.
You didn't give me a chance to address help you during your stay. I am a 4x Super host on another site and almost all of my guests state that I am very easy to contact & communicate with.
I would like to address your issues
1. The hot tub is turned down to 90, which is not cold at all. It takes less than an hour to get the temperature up to 102. All jets, except for 1 are working. I am waiting for a replacement jet to be sent to me. I know that this is correct as I personally balance the chemicals on a weekly basis, which means I have to turn on the jets to get the water moving. You do have to manually rotate the ring around the jet, if someone has turned it the other way/off.
2. The thermostat does have a passcode on it, as I set it to 70. I can control it remotely. If you had texted, emailed or called me I could have turned up or down the temperature. I would have been happy to give you the code if you had given me the opportunity to assist you.
3. I apologize for the dust on the ceiling fan. I have cleaned it after your departure. I appreciate you pointing it out to me.
4. There is hand soap & dish soap under the kitchen sink.
5. The fire pit did have 4 cigarette butts in it, which I have since removed.
There was no debris in the backyard or patio nor is it unkept.
I did not email you back as I wanted to see the for myself what you were complaining about. I personally clean the house myself and know that the house was cleaned to the highest level. I take great pride in my house and making sure my guests have an enjoyable stay.
.After your departure the province had a lock down and I had 5 reservations I had to cancel and assist the guests in getting their refund back in full.
My house is fully stocked with cutlery & plates for +20, full spice drawer, every pot, pan & utensil imaginable. There are 12 hot tub towels and at least 15 bath towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash as well as an ample supply of toilet paper & paper towels. I've had reviews in the past expressing how pleased guests were in what I provided.
I've stayed in numerous short term rentals where all that is provided is 2 towels , 4 plates, forks & knives.
I don't feel that an explanation or apology is necessary.
The property was as described - a century home very close to the amenities of Meaford. The beds were comfortable and the space was suitable for eight friends to visit. Linda replied promptly to emails. Lovely weekend in a beautiful part of Ontario!
Really nice experience, the house is really nice and in the center of everything

A wonderful place for a family gathering
This property comes as advertised and more. The outdoor space is lovely, with eating area, lounge area and private with a hot tub. The kitchen is large and well appointed with everything you need --and we made good use of it. A large family dining area is a bonus. The bedrooms are quite spacious and the beds, bedding and towels are just what you'd want. The showers were awesome. We were there for a week with a large family of 4 generations and there was space for everyone.
Meaford is a cute little town and this property is so close to everything --- the harbour, restaurants and coffee shops, banks and the LCBO, and parks for the little ones. There is access to golf and mini putt and the beaches are very close. The surrounding towns and villages offer scenic drives, wineries and breweries, waterfall tours, scenic vistas etc.
It was very warm while were there--the owner provided several fans to help keep things cooled. Both Linda and Jessie were very responsive to any needs and concerns we had--thanks so much for letting us share your beautiful home

Overall Great!
We had a great time with our stay. The place was clean and easy to manage. There was even an art studio (with supplies available!) - that was a pleasant surprise. The place looked EXACTLY like the pictures. The hot tub was ready to go when we got there. The rooms were spacious and comfortable! The parking lot was very large, the kitchen had many ingredients/supplies/pots that we could use. There were many DVDs to watch as well. The living room was comfortable and had a fireplace.
Linda was the nicest person that we have ever dealt with. Overall, it was great. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing Place
Our stay at Linda's place was nothing short of extraordinary. The decorations are very modern and nice; everything in the house feels clean as well. The kitchen has a well-stocked spice drawer and many other condiments/sauces in the fridge, with an array of kichenette, silverware and glassware enough for more than 10 people. The washrooms come with heated floor which is perfect for cold weather, and the outdoor jaccuzi fits 6 comfortably. The living room has a great fireplace that is turned on with a swtch, and a flat screen tv and speaker system already hooked in. Rooms are very tidy with new sheets and cozy beds! The self-check in and self-check out procedure is really simple as well. Would love to stay here again!

About the host
Hosted by Linda Simopoulos
I love old homes and have restored this house with an updated decor & flair. I am also an abstract artist and have an art studio on the main floor. I love to cook and entertain have stocked the kitchen with spices, pots, pans, anything you will need
Why they chose this property
I fell in love with the quaint charming town of Meaford. I wanted to get away from the big city traffic and box stores. I am 2 blocks from the beautiful Meaford harbour and 1 block from downtown Meaford. My daughters had the benefit of a small town charm that was safe and unassuming and provided wonderful memories for young children. We are blocks away from Beautiful Joe park and the Bighead River. You can ride your bike or cross country ski along the Georgian Trail.
What makes this property unique
It's a beautiful updated century home with a turret and lovely perennial gardens. It's spacious with an open concept kitchen and a very large dining room. Perfect for a big skiers breakfast or a sit down dinner.
