About this property

Historic cabin overlooking a pond

A typically Appalachian style dovetail log cabin, with a covered front porch overlooking a peaceful pond. Relax on the front porch rocking chairs, or on the swing by the pond, or by the firepit on cool evenings.
We love having guests, but we want our guests to understand before arrival what our cabin is like. Please note that this is not an isolated quiet location. It is in a neighborhood, and although well screened by shrubbery, there are several houses, plus a busy road, close by.
Also note that the cabin is only 600 sq. ft, which means that the bathroom, and especially the shower, is very small. While there is a small refrigerator, a hotplate, and a microwave, the cooking space is quite small as well.
Parking is fine for a small to full size car, but parking and turning a large SUV will be difficult. Parking with any kind of trailer , or any kind of RV, will not be possible.

Rustic cabin near Boone
My husband and I rented the cabin while we visited our App State student. It was cozy, comfortable and a short drive to campus. Great short stay! I’m happy the owner was easy to communicate with and very transparent about the location… it’s a cabin in a neighborhood a block off a main road… not secluded in the woods. This was perfect for us!

Why they chose this property

This little cabin was constructed by us as a guest house and retreat.

What makes this property unique

We love spending quiet evenings in the cabin listening to the radio and playing board games, or just having our supper on the front porch.
