Bottom line - I would not recommend this townhouse nor we will ever stay in Lost Key again.
We stayed here last year with a handful of issues but decided we’d give it another shot - mistake.
Good communication prior to arrival and even offered early check in when asked. For the most part, the townhouse is fine. The carpeting is getting quite old and nasty, but the furnishings still feel clean enough. We did arrive to a weird quilt on the master bed which I discovered 2 days later was bc the comforter had been washed and “dried” - meaning left to sour in the dryer for us to find. The tvs did not work over half of the time, the internet is horrible and the ice maker is literally duct taped due to a broken latch - old duct tape that constantly pulled off, at that.
The biggest issues, though, came with the community amenities. Let me say, the beach club was closed our entire trip last year, and all we had was the community pool. This year, the community pool was closed for “cleaning” when we got there and didn’t open until 2 days later. When I contacted the owners they simply said they couldn’t reach management and it should be open tomorrow. We did find out it was, in fact, broken. The next day, they literally shut down every. single. thing. over Ian… we weren’t even near the cone of predictability at that point! We had maybe 3 hours on the beach/pools before they removed every single piece of furniture and literally guarded the pool… with 4 kids ages 4-7 to entertain all week, we ended up spending hundreds on other activities. The high rises had their chairs out for 2 whole days after lost key locked up theirs, and we had gorgeous weather all week! It is painfully obvious that this place is poorly managed and struggling. We spent all week being told “we emailed the owners.” Never once was any information passed on to us. They didn’t even bother to send us check out info so I went searching for the info I had to request last year. To this day, over a week later, I have not received a single communication from the owners since my last request - no we hope you enjoyed your stay, we value our renters and their reviews, nothing. It was a form email from VRBO that asked for this review. I do not like leaving reviews like this, but I dislike more the idea of other families wasting valuable family time dealing with the nonsense of this beach club. Spend a bit more and stay in a high rise on the water.
