We loved it! Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and the most gorgeous view! We watched the moon come up over the lake and the sun rise above the lake. It’s a lovely winter retreat! We’d love to come back in summer or fall and enjoy the lake and nearby nature trails.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. Love the picture. Happy New Year!
This was a great stay at a truly special place. 40th HS reunion and the lake house was our home base. Incredible pretty and quiet with everything in the house to enjoy the lake and the area. Everyone who stayed or stopped by said they'd stay there again in a second.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. We'd be happy to host you and your friends anytime.
We all loved the lake house!! The setting was serene and beautiful and only 20 minutes to UConn where my son is a student. The house was well equipped and even more spacious than we thought. We used the kayaks and my teen son fished off the dock. It was an absolutely perfect weekend and we did not want to leave! The hosts were quick to respond and wonderful to work with. We will be back!

Thank you so much. You were great guests. We're so glad you enjoyed it.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is beautiful. So much lovely wood and, of course the view of the lake is amazing. The host were fast to reply and helpful. Our visit kept us busy with family events, but I wish we had had more time to enjoy the lake and all the wonderful amenities the house had to offer. We hope to be back!

Hi Nicki,
It was a pleasure hosting you. You are all welcome to come back anytime.
The property was lovely; in a very quiet and friendly neighborhood. We were there for work not on vacation, but it was lovely and we had everything we could need available to us. I would very highly recommend this rental.

Thank you Lisa. You were a pleasure to host. Come back anytime!
We lived in this part of Connecticut for 30 years and thoroughly enjoyed being back to explore our old haunts (and some new ones). The cottage was in the perfect location for our adventures. It is a cozy, well-built place with fabulous views on the fall foliage across the lake. It is near the Hop River State Park Trail for hiking which we enjoyed as well.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay at our home. It's funny that people call it a cottage which we never thought of it as that. Anyway, you were a pleasure to host and we're glad you discovered one of the parks! Come again anytime!
Awesome view on the lake. Very quiet and in a good location for 1-2 hour day trips. House needs alittle TLC. Communication with owner was good.

Hello Harlanette, So glad to see you had a good time. Sure wished you told us the house needed something. We try to make sure everything is great. What were the things at the house that needed tlc? It was discovered that the wok (what str has these?) Was damaged due to another tenant not cleaning it correctly and we overlooked that. Also the upstairs tv doesn't work. It requires a fire stick or something like that. We haven't been able to figure that out.
Review based on stay in December: We stayed in this house for 4 nights over Christmas. The house was very clean and warm, with plenty of room. Bedrooms very large, Beds were comfortable. Plenty warm , kitchen stocked like a normal full time kitchen as opposed to a seasonal place. We were very comfortable and the view is great. Owner stopped by one morning to make sure we could get out of driveway due to some icing the night before. The shed with rock salt worked immediately. this house is not a “summer type cottage” . It is a well constructed , taken care of full year house. I wish I owned it!!! . Kudos to the owners for the love they have put into this house. Christmas tree in living room with lights set on a timer, and a few other Christmas theme items on mantel and kitchen counter were appreciated. Hope to stay again .

Thank you for staying at our Spacious Lakefront home and your kind comments. We certainly do love the place and enjoying sharing it with others. We're so glad you came and hope to see you again someday.
The place itself is great. Owner was very responsive on the first night when we had an issue with the heat. A little less responsive when we mentioned that we replaced a couple of broken rollers on the bed (our cost) and had to shovel the driveway to get our car out after a few attempts made it about half way (pretty steep driveway and of course it's the morning we had to head to the airport).

We work really hard to insure our guests have a great stay. Had we known about the bed casters we would've replaced them. They don't affect the bed quality and no one moves the bed so why we know about it? You have no reason to move the bed. Regarding the plowing we can't control the timing of our service. They came pretty quickly. Had you required it done early all you needed to do was inform us and we couldn't allerted the driver.
the house was clean and the owners had thought of anything one might have forgotten to bring but needed! it was rainy and blustery out and coming back to this cabin was cozy. i had a hard time getting warm and the temp went down at night but i just put on a sweatshirt and was ok. we were happy here.

We're happy you enjoyed your stay but sorry to hear that you were cold. We wish you mentioned that as you can easily adjust the temperature for your own comfort. The King bed is a cooling bed as we sweat at night so we like it cooler. There are lots of blankets available as you may have noticed. Anyway, lesson learned, right?
Thank you so much for pointing that out. We'll have to make sure it's clear upon arrival for our guests as the thermostat is adjustable. We hope you had a pleasant journey home. We hope to see you again sometime!
House is awesome! Great view of lake! Kayaks & lifevests are provided. Host is very responsive. Most suitable for four adults and two children since two of the beds are bunk beds with futon mattresses.
The experience was wonderful! We enjoyed the beautiful view and the lovely house accommodations. Host was very helpful and responsive.

We are empty nesters who like the peace of the area. We are self employed who dream of someday retiring. Lol. Show us a picture of what that looks like! We'd love to travel if we could ever get time. For now we live vicariously through our guests.
Why they chose this property
We never intended to purchase a vacation home to rent, however, when we saw this property we fell in love with the quality craftsmanship within the home. The home was built in its current state in 2006. Almost every piece was built by one person who sadly had to sell.
What makes this property unique
It sits right on a quiet lake where no motors are allowed. There is a wonderful walk around the lake as there is a bridge over the dam on the lower end of the lake. There's even a lending library along the way. In the winter people gather on the ice when its safe to ice skate, snow shoe and ice fish. People flock to the lake for the best fishing in the area. We installed a large dock for use during warmer weather. There is a large firepit near the water, large patio behind the house with a chimenea for guests to use. Neighbors are all very friendly. Inside the house is wonderfully constructed with all wood floors and large rooms.
