-- THE LOCATION --
Sunset Beach is located on the southernmost barrier island on the North Carolina coastline. It is a peaceful three mile long island with wide powdery white sand beaches that is unspoiled by commercial development. Sunset Beach is widely viewed as one of the cleanest, family oriented beaches on the east coast. Its white sandy beaches are a great place to sunbathe, walk, ride a bike, jog or just sit and relax while watching the boats and the dolphins come and go. Bird Island is also located on the west end of the island. Bird Island is a pristine, undeveloped 1300 acre state preserve that is home to loggerhead turtles and the Purple Sandpiper found only on Bird Island. This end of the beach is very spacious, quiet and peaceful and provides absolutely stunning unobstructed views of the ocean, marsh and the beautiful sunsets for which Sunset is known.
Sunset is centrally located providing easy access to Calabash, 'The Seafood Capital of the World', just two miles away, where you can feast on the local seafood, buy fresh shrimp off of one of the shrimp boats or charter a boat and catch your own dinner. North Myrtle Beach is just 15 miles away, Myrtle Beach 25 miles away and historic Wilmington is approximately 45 miles away. You can catch a world class show in one of the many theaters in Myrtle Beach or you can tour a battleship in Wilmington. For the shopper there are endless opportunities including Barefoot Landing, Broadway at the Beach and two Tanger Outlet centers. If golfing is your thing the area is also considered the 'Golf Capital of the World'. Sea Trail, The Thistle, Lions Paw, Tigers Eye, Panthers Run, Crow Creek, Oyster Bay, The Pearl and Sandpiper are just some of the courses within 15 minutes of Sunset Beach.

Everything was fantastic. The house is in a great location. Getting to the beach was a super easy walk (even with 4 small kids in tow). The house was in great shape and communication with the host was excellent. Can't recommend Sunset Beach and The Sandpiper enough. We had a great time.
Beautiful home, had everything we needed for a quiet relaxing vacation. Sunset beach is a place that is clean and very laid back, with great people and lots to do within a short drive. Our host was very accommodating and easy to work with. Will definitely come back again!!
The cottage was clean and obviously well-cared for. The host was polite and helpful in terms of orienting to house rules and check-in, etc. A very minor issue was resolved immediately. The whole experience was a pleasure and easy. The host has it together and we all appreciated it. We'd stay here again.
This beach house was clean and located in a great part of Sunset Beach. There was excellent communication with the owner, and I would definitely book this house again.
We loved this property and had a great stay. Everything was very clean and comfortable for our family. The property and amenities were as listed and location was great. We would stay here again!
Really enjoyed the stay at this property. Great layout for our family and perfect balance of a quiet street and easy walking access to the beach. Enjoyed the stay so much we are coming back next month.
We were absolutely pleased with the accommodations. A short walk to the beach and to the afternoon sunsets. Comfortable beds. Adequately supplied with updated appliances. Would definitely stay here again.
This house was extremely clean and comfortable. We travel with a child with allergies and it was really nice that the pillows had zipper covers. There was plenty of room for all of our groceries with a bonus fridge in the extremely nice laundry room. I often dread doing laundry at the beach but this laundry room was great! The outdoor shower and porches were wonderful. Would definitely stay here again!

Hi Hannah! Thank you for the kind review. I really appreciate it and glad to know someone has noticed the work I have put into the laundry room!! I'm glad you enjoyed the trip and the house looked great when I was there last week. We would love to have you stay again next year..
I had a truly disappointing stay at this vacation home, and I feel compelled to warn others. From the moment we arrived, the entire place reeked of urine. The smell was overwhelming and inescapable, permeating every room. The bed was the worst offender—it smelled so strongly of urine that we couldn’t sleep comfortably, and it made us question the cleanliness of the linens. To top it off, the outdoor shower, which we hoped would be a refreshing escape, had its own foul stench of urine, making it unusable. The property clearly hasn’t been properly cleaned or maintained, and it ruined our vacation. I would not recommend this place to anyone—stay far away!

The online listing showed a very nice beach home, and it did not disappoint! Two couples stayed and the size was very comfortable. The location was perfect, a short walk to the beach. We felt like locals and enjoyed the neighborhood. The house from the outside looked inviting, and there was a sitting area underneath the house in the rear that had very nice outdoor furniture and a TV. The outside shower was clean, spacious, and had good pressure. On the inside, everything was very clean and very comfortable. On one side was the living room and a king bedroom and en suite. On the other side was a king bedroom and a full/twin bunk with a desk, with a jack and hill bath in between. And in the middle was the kitchen and dining space. The king bedrooms were spacious and the mattresses were very comfortable. Each had night stands on both sides of the bed which was very helpful. The bathrooms were 'cozy' but we were fine with it. One bathroom had a full size tub, and the other had the equivalent size walk in shower. The porch in the front was so wonderful to sit outside and enjoy the breeze and relax. We had lots of restaurant options within 10-15 min, and there were a couple of supermarkets within about 10 min as well. We really felt at home, just loved our time here, and would definitely come back to this beach house, thank you!
Cute beach house on sunset beach in a quiet neighborhood
The beach house was quaint and cute. The beds were comfortable which was great (we’ve stayed places where they were awful!). The house was a bit small for 4 adults and 4 kids, such as not having enough seating for all 8 of us to eat together, or sit and watch a show together, but we knew it was 1100 sq ft when we rented it, so that wasn’t a surprise.
The kitchen had most of the necessities, but if you’re a cook/chef and plan to cook a lot there, just know you likely won’t have the best options. It worked for us though!
The front porch was great to sit on! It’d be nice if there was a table out there to be able to put a drink or plate on though. My husband took one from across the street that those owners were throwing away, so we at least had a small side table for a few days!
Having a washer and dryer was amazing too! And the outdoor shower!
The walk to the beach isn’t bad, but it is also not close (such as for little kids needing the potty, and my dad who has back and hip problems, thus making the trek challenging).
I also think every bedroom should have a TV, especially because they aren’t that expensive these days. 2 of the 4 rooms had them.
Overall, it was a clean house that was in a quiet neighborhood, close to the beautiful beach! The owner was responsive whenever I had a question too, so that was great!

Hi Jennifer. Thank you for your kind review. I wanted to let you know we have added TV's to all bedrooms per your recommendation.
Nice property, but once again we see an old BAND-AID left in the outdoor shower from the last guests that kind of ruined everything. We asked the owner to remove it and the cleaning people come by, but the BAND-AID is still there. We had to ask a 2nd time to remove the old BAND-AID and it finally was removed. This seems to be a problem everywhere on Sunset Beach with inadequate cleaning performed with no supervision or oversight by the owner.
When we checked out and looked under the beds for dropped items, there were dust piles indicating improper cleaning once again. Two of three door locks require you to enter your code twice due to improper alignment. One shower/tub has a rusted drain. For the price we paid, we expected more. Why can't the cleaning crew actually clean properly? Maybe owners need to refund renters when old BAND-AIDs are found in the shower, but that might mean less profits, eh?
