About the host

Hosted by Amy & Jeffery Hartman

Host profile image
We are family oriented with 4 children and 14 grandchildren that grew up on horse farms in the area. God has blessed us with this property and a strong desire to share its peace and beauty with others. Jeff has a dental practice in Huntingdon County since 1980 and partnered with our daughter Shilo to open Altoona office in 2019. Amy is actively involved in ministry at our church in State College, cares for grandchildren frequently, and manages our rental properties and farm workers.

Why they chose this property

The Mountain House was built by the original owners of our farm as their second home when they relocated. In 2016 we purchased the Mountain house and the remaining land to the original farm we live on when the owners were ready to sell. It was always our desire to reunite all the acres of the original farm, and when the opportunity came, we were excited to see that dream fulfilled. We did consider relocating to the Mountain House and we occasionally stay there and share it with out of town family. As beautiful as it is, we enjoy life in our home on the main part of the farm where we can watch our horses run through the fields, and have easy access to our barns. Sharing the Mountain House with family and guests is something we enjoy.

What makes this property unique

We have stayed in many places through out the world. The beauty, peace and tranquility of this Mountain home is up there with any we have visited. The opportunity to view most of the wildlife of Pennsylvania exists from the back deck while in your bathrobe sipping your favorite morning beverage. There is opportunity to explore the rich and diverse landscapes and culture of central Pennsylvania. The Amish community of Belleville is over the mountain in one direction and the culture of Penn State University is over the other mountain, and scattered throughout are many quaint small villages and towns that offer a variety of experiences for the traveler who enjoys country living at its finest.
