About the host
Hosted by Deborah Malnati
This wonderful house has been in my family for many decades. My family has gathered here for family vacations each summer since my mom and dad bought it in 1979. Happily, we continue that tradition and now bring our grown kids and grandkids to enjoy the house and our time together. We love the bay and ocean beaches, downtown Sag Harbor, boating, fishing, and exploring the Hamptons. There are many golfers in the family who enjoy a round at the courses nearby. We love wine tasting at our many local vineyards, and bringing home fresh, delicious vegetables and fish from the farm stand just down the street from our house. There are endless possibilities for dining out as well.
Why they chose this property
My mother and father purchased the house as their summer place, my mom envisioned it to be the meeting place where her whole family could come and stay under one roof. We grew up in a town on Long Island about 30 miles from NYC. Whenever they would drive East to Sag Harbor, they'd say they were going out to "the country". We laughed about that, but it really was true, especially back in those days because Sag Harbor was a sleepy little village no one really paid much attention to. We've seen many changes over the years, and the house itself has been through many large renovations and improvements. It started out as a ranch house. My dad found an excellent architect who transformed it to its current two story design. I think you will find it to be exceptionally comfortable and wonderfully cheerful, with its large windows and beautiful views from every single room. I am grateful for the opportunity to keep this home in our family for future generations to cherish the memories made here.
