Beautiful sunlit contemporary loft around the corner from the Fourth Street shopping district. Comes fully furnished. The open master bedroom loft on the upper level features a fine California King-sized bed; there are two twin beds in the private bedroom below. Perfect for a couple or family. Off-street parking is provided, plus convenient access to public transit.
High-speed Internet hooked up to a large-screen monitor in the very comfy living room. Full kitchen with Keurig coffeemaker, microwave, toaster-oven, gas cooktop & convection oven, dishwasher. Gated garden downstairs with fishpond. (Unfortunately, this apartment is not handicapped accessible.)
The Neighborhood
The condo is in Berkeley's Fourth Street district, full of delightful shops, eateries and street life— and the Berkeley Apple Store. (It's particularly festive in holiday season, with spectacular lighting at night!) Also mere blocks from the freeway to San Francisco or the Wine Country, and University Ave. leading up to campus. But when you come back home, you'll close the gate on all that commotion and find yourself in a tranquil garden with fish and flora, and a beautifully furnished, warm bi-level apartment.
Please note that this area is also within hearing range of passing trains. We now supply earplugs for light sleepers, and an Ecotonic adaptive sleep sounds machine for those who are bothered by the train noise.
Getting around
One block from buses to the UC campus (and express buses in the morning to downtown SF). A twenty minute walk to North Berkeley BART. The neighborhood has a great walk score of 91 and a bike score of 99.

Our stay at Peter and Mary Curtis's house has been lovely. They have been great hosts, always very available to help with anything we need, and we definitely feel at home here. The house is very cozy, with a lot of natural light, and in a great location, close to buses that take you both to Downton Berkeley or San Francisco. It is also close to many restaurants and shops.
We've lived in Berkeley for over thirty years. I am an artist (my studio is actually downstairs) and my husband Peter is a retired museum person and writer. We love the Bay Area and are happy to share tips about it.
Why they chose this property
The Fourth Street neighborhood has been carefully designed and built up over the years and is a thriving hub of activity at a village scale. Good food, unique shops, cafés, and an Apple Store all contribute to the lively mix.
What makes this property unique
The architecture of this loft is a real standout, with skylights high above the living room floor and recessed casement windows. The view over the living room from the stairs and open loft above makes it exciting and our guests have loved it.
