Fit the bill!

My mother, sister and I visited my brother and sister-in-law in Berkeley. I was pleased to find this listing close to their place. The home offered separate comfortable living quarters Andreas was great to work with and was amiable to a few Reasonable accommodations. We are excited to return soon to visit again! Cozy and homey, with space for us to eat and play games together.

This is a comfortable place to stay.

Everything you need is there. The back sections are a little run down but useable. The fenced yard was great for the dog, but could use a cleanup.

Berkeley getaway

This lovely home was in a quiet neighborhood but centrally located. Very distinctive in layout and architecture. Within walking distance to many things. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare meals and the rooms were comfortable. Dog park close by (or playground if you have littles). We will definitely be back.

Not maintained. The place has construction scaffolding, unkempt yard, unsightly overgrowth, paint peeling everywhere. So much junk on drainboards there's hardly room to cook. Extremely dangerous driveway. We didn't invite family members over. Pretty bad.

Quaint

The home is really charming, vintage and simple. Photos depict the space accurately. When the backyard gets done, it will be nice to really enjoy. I hope to stay next time I'm in town as it was a perfect location to get to the university, marina, transit and amenities. Parking on street was no problem. Thank you, Andreas, for sharing the home.

Fine for a quick visit with grandson at Cal

House was well-suited for our party of 3, with a separate bedroom for our high school aged grandson. Coffee shops on nearby San Pablo were convenient. The house obviously needs many improvements but it's fine for a short stay. And the neighborhood is very quiet. Don't park on the street under the neighbor's tree to avoid a heavy dusting of very sticky sap.

Clean, comfortable and convenient

My old college roommates and I were looking for a place that was more comfortable than a hotel but close to public transportation such as the Bart and Bus lines. This place was it. Our host was friendly and responsive in our communication. It has everything we needed such as plates and utensils for our takeout and clean fridge for our fruit and milk. The location is ideal as we were close to a lot of cades, bakeries, restaurants and even Target.We hope to book this place again when we are in Berkeley. I highly recommend.

Shabby Craftsman Cottage

Everything was there as listed in the description; for example a dishwasher that sits on the counter and must be manually filled, but the place is right out of the 1950’s. And cold. Portable heaters located in the living room and hallway but no heating vents in the bedrooms or bathroom. If the price was reduced by 1/3, it would be okay but as offered, it’s no bargain.

Good Place, Great Host

The property met our expectations. There were lots of extra linens and towels. The owner is currently working on the back yard, so it's a bit cluttered, but there is a table with some chairs that are usable. The neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. The property is easily walkable from the North Berkeley BART station, and there are many restaurants nearby. We had some communication with the host prior to our arrival, and he was exceptionally helpful and curteous - well beyond our expectations.

Somewhat diappointing

House was organized badly. Dining room area has useless couch instead of table. House needs deep cleaning. Backyard needs much help. Inadequate supplies. No trash bags. No laundry detergent. Water from kitchen faucet very slow. Smell from heater. Bedroom needs nightstand. Positive. Beds comfortable. Shower good.

Thanksgiving 2023

We had such a lovely stay in this charming home! Andreas was so accommodating and communicated exceptionally quick. The neighborhood was very quiet and walk-able. It was so close to the Berkeley campus that our son was able to walk from campus to the house to greet us. The home was very clean and had all of the items we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving meal. Andreas set us up with deliciously filtered water and sent some great tips before we arrived. The beds were very comfortable and there were cozy blankets around the house to snuggle up with while watching family movies after a Thanksgiving meal. Parking was surprisingly easy and right in front of the house on the street. We didn't park in the driveway area while visiting, just on the street since it was so accessible.

Nice and clean but cheaply furnished

very clean home near 4th st shops and restaurant close to freeway access to San Francisco and in one direction and wine country in the other direction. The home, like all in this nice area of Berkley, is small yet adequately sized except for the bathroom which is exceedingly small. The reason for the loss of two stars is because of the disregard shown for the furnishing of the home. Nothing matched, the tv in the living room instead of being mounted on wall above the fireplace, instead sits on an end table from the master bedroom, cables exposed. There is a cheap desk in what once was the dining room along with a lounger of some sort. It seems as if it was furnished with items from a garage sale. The other major complaint is also indicative of the little regard for the guests and that is the bathroom tissue which could not be of a cheaper variety, so thin it was completely translucent. I don't expect luxury in this price range but is Charmin too much to ask?

The house was immaculate and spacious, set in a lovely quiet neighborhood! We were able to walk 2 blocks to the main road to find many great restaurants.Plenty of towels and hot water. Thoughtful to include a drinking water filter system. Note that the bathroom is quite small.Would have liked a brand new clean sponge rather than an old used one in the sink. The back door did not really lock, as well as windows when open, which made us uncomfortable. The driveway does not really exist next to the house (tiles are lined up to drive on but should not use due to gas line in middle) so must use on street parking, which was very easy to find.

Great location with shopping nearby. Actually, the city is pretty easy to get around. Kitchen was amply stocked, plenty of linens and comfy beds. I would add that if you have difficutly with mobility the front of the house has a steep drive that might be difficult to manage. Loved our host-helpful and considerate.

Great location

The Vrbo is in a great location. It’s about 4 blocks from the North Berkeley BART station and is an easy walk to a coffee bar and bagel place on one side and a bakery on another side. The bed is comfortable, the water filter quite amazing, plenty of towels, a usable outdoor space and easy in and out.

Neat Berkeley Craftsman Cottage

My wife and I had a 3 week stay in this cottage while visiting family and grandchildren living nearby. It has all of the charm and some lovely quirks typical of an old Berkeley craftsman-type home built in the 1920’s/1930’s. Comfortable, and we had no issues with the home or its systems. We took our granddaughter on stroller tours all around the area, ranging from Westbrae to the north, Monterey market to the Northeast, down to the 4th street shops to the west and the UC Berkeley campus to the south. We most likely walked/strolled a total of 100 miles through the neighborhoods while there. We found the location to be very convenient for all these pleasant walks.Andreas, the host was pleasant and helpful with the minimal communications we had. We believe this home represents a good value for the money spent. We’d certainly stay there again.

Charming, comfortable, well-equipped, great location.

Three adults visiting family in Berkeley and SF had a very comfortable, convenient one-week stay at this rental. The host was a great communicator. The location is a short walk to BART and many good restaurants. Nice neighborhood. We would happily return.
