About this property

Just 6 Steps From Lake Independence! Great lake get-away near Minneapolis.

We are opening our three bedroom, two bathroom home on 830-acre Lake Independence for two weeks in the summer of 2021. We've lived on the lake for nearly 15 years and love it. Despite being just 25 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, Lake Independence is famed for its excellence fishing, with good numbers of walleye, largemouth bass, sunfish, crappie and muskie. Sunrises are stunning and evening meals are usually serenaded by loons. Home features large, wrap-around deck (just six steps from shore), dock, sleeping for six (two queen size beds and bunks), full kitchen, cable, central air, badminton/volleyball court, outdoor cabana/bar and level one-acre lot that's located on a dead-end road with local traffic only. Property is just minutes from great restaurants, golf courses (Baker National and other), and sports teams like the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota United.

Great hosts, great place, great communication, great neighbors!

Steve was great! Met us at check-in and walked us through the property. Communicated with us a few times throughout our stay to ensure we were satisfied. Was accessible if needed. Place was great! We were the lucky few to have the opportunity to rent this “home” as it’s only rented out a couple of times per year. This makes it feel much more like staying at a friend’s place vs staying somewhere that just funnels renters in and out every week. Lots of personal touches. Location was great! Right on the water with great views and very friendly neighbors to the south. Steve made his kayaks and canoe and other items available to us at no additional charge. Was also easy to do lots of exploring around the greater Minneapolis area too. Short trip to downtown and many other areas. Warning: No dishwasher. Didn’t realize this when reserving so just be aware of that. Was a little tough with young children and our plans to eat many meals in. If going out for lunches and dinner, no worries here. Also, no private refrigerator/freezer either. Host made space available, but had to keep track of what was ours and what was theirs. Again, just something to be aware of. Not a complaint, just transparency for planning purposes. Thanks again, Steve!

Beautiful Home & Location

We really enjoyed our stay and beautiful Independence Lake! Highly recommend the beach and small watercraft rentals at nearby Baker Park. Also wonderful bike trails in the area and the owner allowed us use of their bikes and kayak. We really enjoyed lunches and dinners on the lake. It is someone's home so don't expect it to be like a 24/7 vacation rental without signs of life.

Cozy cottage, great location, beautiful scenery.

The house was cozy and clean and opened up to a lake. It was quiet and peaceful, very relaxing! The owners met us on arrival and walked us through the house and gave us great recommendations of places to eat and visit. They were pleasant, courteous and friendly. The location was within 20-30 minutes of a grocery store or restaurants.
