If you are planning a fishing adventure of a memorable lifetime experience, then we highly recommend: Jeff Goodwin's Guide Service for all your fishing needs. He is an excellent professional guide for fishing Lake Shasta and the rivers in our area. As an avid fisherman myself, he is one of the best I have ever met and fished with and a most gracious person! You will not be disappointed in booking with this gentleman. We only ask that you respect "Catch and Release" of the double digit trophy German Brown and Rainbow Trout that you will catch with him. Jeff's phone number is: (707) 616-1905. Please let him know we referred you.
For Fly Fisherman your contact source and one of the best in the entire Northern part of our state is the Fly Shop in Redding. They've been there in their original location with the original owners since 1978 when I went to Shasta College and became knowledgeable and spoiled by the many fly fishing opportunities in this small area of the world! Whether it's the infamous Hexigenia Mayfly hatch in Fall River or dappling in the Upper Sacramento River or midge fishing the Conservancy Section of the McCloud River Hat Creek or the Upper Pit River, they not only have accurate data about the fly patterns and hatches, but they have some of the best fly fishing guides on staff that will not disappoint! They are open 365 days a year. Their phone number is: (530) 222-3555 theflyshop.com. Please let them know we referred you.

The cabin is wonderful, even better than expected. We were told that the pictures did not do it justice and that is absolutely the case. We hope to visit again soon.

Frank was an amazing guest and I invite him to come and stay with us again!
We had a great time at the property. AC worked, board games and Street Fighter Arcade game were great, hot tub worked well...overall, the accommodations were great! Loved the view and proximity to different parts of the lake. Definitely would recommend!
We had an absolutely spectacular birthday weekend for my wife. The house is completely out on its own—you can’t see another structure wherever you look. The photos honestly don’t do the view justice. It’s gorgeous. The kitchen has everything you need, the master bedroom is as comfortable as you could hope for (we didn’t use any of the guest rooms), and the hot tub is really the highlight of the property. We’re almost certainly going to go back. The host, Michael, was responsive and accommodating. He made the ins and outs easy. Overall, I can’t recommend this place highly enough.
A great cabin went with three other friends played poker drank wine sat out on the deck barbecued was fantastic. Clear instructions. Would be great for any group that wants to get away to a beautiful view.
We loved sitting out on the deck and enjoying the beautiful view. The property is also close to Bailey Cove where we swam and boated. And it's close to Shasta Caverns which is an amazing place to visit.
The home has lots of beds, a new big screen tv, and comfortable areas for visiting, eating, playing games! We hope to come back again for another wonderful visit.
Fantastic view and quiet solitude. The Lodgeview is great place to get away and relax. The home was fully equipped with everything we needed, including kitchen seasonings and condiments. We had a wonderful time and will come again!

Thank you Doug. You and your family are welcome anytime! Hope to see you again soon. Michael
We came for my son’s 17th birthday week and it was perfect!!!! A few friends and some family so we needed plenty of room which it had. I cooked a lot and the kitchen was adequately stocked with kitchen ware for every big meal. The view was breathtaking and amazing. The property was quiet and relaxing with fun wildlife wandering around. I give this property a 5 star for sure. However to be 100% honest the driveway was not great for our boat. We have a nearly 26’ Centurion with a triple axle trailer. We made the situation work but I would not recommend a triple axle in the driveway, just stay out in front of the driveway. The property owner was top notch with communication in every manner with clear check in and out instructions. He also provided area information on boat launch and things to do. I cannot wait to come back to this property again!!!!! (I will just take the boat straight to the harbor ;)
This house was really REALLY incredible. The host is very kind and informative. The view of the lake was endless. The hot tub was nice and clean ready for use. The house is well stocked with everything you need to have a great family vacation. Plenty of room for a couple families. Very close to the marina which was perfect for us , we brought our 24 ft axis which fit well in the gated, drive thru style driveway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to book this house again the next time we visit Lake Shasta . Thank you!!
House was supposed to be ready at 11:00am we arrived at 5:30pm and it was not ready. Owner contacted us saying the house was left a mess, it was not, he was very rude and accusatory! I wouldn't recommend staying here.

This review is false! We have been hosts for over 15 years and the home was immaculate and ready for their use prior to their arrival. This review was written in spite when we complained about the mess THEY left behind with the front door left opened and unlocked with the key hanging out of the lock box wide open for theft or vandalism of our property!
They were also confronted on not being accurate with regards to the number of guests staying there with them. They booked for five people originally and instead snuck in and brought 11 guests and did not offer to pay for their stay when confronted with regards to this issue!
When we filed OUR initial complaint with Vrbo we received this false negative review from them in response.
Vrbo has actually flagged these people for future hosts if they so try to use their services again in the future!
We live at this property half of the time as I am a retired physician. We kindly ask that to ALL those in the future who book with us to please be respectful and accurate in your booking and to treat our Lodge with such respect as if it were their own.
Great location near I5 yet secluded and private. Plenty of recreational options nearby. The lodge was nice with great lake views, plenty of space and parking. Air conditioning worked great. TV with steaming channels. We had a family of deer visit us each evening to drink water. The only improvement needed is the kitchen floors were not swept and living room needed vacuuming and a few dishes were not cleaned. Everything else was very nice. We would stay here again and I recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Shasta.
This place was amazing! Expansive and very private views of the lake, the mountains, the stars, and sunrises over the mountains. The house is quite remote, so be sure that is what you’re seeking in an experience. We loved it! Every day I was up before the sun to enjoy the peace and watch the sun rise over the mountains. The house was quite comfortable and everything advertised was there and worked. The host was great. He called before we arrived to provide the codes, general information about the house and the area, and to offer ideas for excursions, grocery, and dining. We would DEFINITELY stay here again, but perhaps for more than 3 nights next time.
If I could give this place a higher rating I would! This place exceeded my expectations of what it would be like. The peace and quiet was exactly what we needed for this get away! Perfect views, comfortable furniture and beds and just the great outdoors all in one! Do not believe the bad reviews left at this place, honestly the people who had a problem with this place are impatient and don’t know how to enjoy themselves. I’ve seen reviews of people complaining about spider webs here and there like people don’t have spiders in the corners of their own home. Take your hand and smack it off! Your in the outdoors of course your going to see some bugs here and there. The place was clean on arrival and the hot tub works just fine, it heats up slowly but just have patience, chill out and relax and enjoy this place. Anytime I had a question for the owner he was very quick to respond. I highly recommend anyone looking for some peace and quiet away from city life to stay here, I will definitely be going again myself 100/10 rating for me

Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
So much potential Nice owner, Nice location however
We were a bit taken back when we arrived. Speaking with the owner for check in over the phone the night prior seemed to go somewhat well. I was given instructions verbally over the course of 45min phone call. Owner was very nice and explained codes, how to get in etc. it was a lot to decipher (recommend having a type set of instructions for guest) we did struggle with remembering all steps so we had to call once we arrived..not a big deal but simple type instruction is needed! We arrived and were a bit taken back. As a family that travels both in the US and abroad we were surprised at the condition of the property. (See photos for just a FEW examples My husband actually used his pocket knife to clear the walkway from overgrown landscaping, there was garbage under beds, huge amounts of cob webs, rodent droppings, filthy freezer, soiled pot holders, actually do not think this should of been rented out it was NOT CLEANED inside or out. It is for sure MUCH cleaner than when we arrived. The pictures posted are VERY OLD or photoshopped. HOT TUB, Was a bath tub would not heat. CAMERAS everywhere, I get protection of property however we all felt we were being watched by the 6 plus cameras making it hard for anyone to relax. The beds are from tbe 70’s-80’s. Very worn and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE..3 wash cloths ( no wash-dryer) 6 people 4 days No kitchen towels (only paper)

Shelia: we are surprised by this review and concerned because we stayed there the week before your arrival and the house was clean prior to your arrival the next day.
what you see in the photographs of pictures of the Lodge are accurate and NOT photoshopped!
also, pocket knife to trim overgrown shrubs! We have NONE!
If there were inadequacies with your stay with us then you should have called us.
This review is obviously inaccurate and we find it to be offensive for a super Host Lodge for the past 15 years!
The property is quiet and peaceful but overall seems neglected. When we arrived at the property, it hadn't been cleaned properly. I contacted the host and he was fast to respond that he was sending someone out to clean. It took the cleaner 5 hours to get there. By that time we had already cleaned a lot of what we wanted/needed to use. After her description of how she cleaned the hot tub we had no faith that it was cleaned well so we didn't use it although that was part of the reason we booked this place. There are several things around the house that need to be fixed or replaced. The pretty red/tan/ black furniture has plyboards under the cushions for support, but you definitely feel like you're sitting on a cushion on a board. The pink bathroom has a shower head so low that at 5'5 I had to squat to be able to wash my hair. I have let the host know about the issues we saw in a detailed message. He said he has already gotten a new cleaning service and is getting other items addressed. I hope he does as this is a beautiful property.
I rented this property seven months ago for a graduation and family gathering. Due to Covid some of our plans changed but my family and I were very excited to finally be able to see each other post quarantine. What should have been a joyous occasion for us was interrupted by a VRBO owner that has no business renting out his house. After a 12 hour dive I finally got to see my family and relax. I rented this house seven months ago and had zero communication from the owner during that time. He called me at 8 o’clock at night and pull me away from my family gathering asked if I had a pen and paper and proceeded to give me 40 minute check in instructions. I have Rented many houses abd this process is usually done via email not the night before check-in and the houses usually come with a check in binder as a reference. When I got to the cabin there was no binder of instructions. When I texted him for the Wi-Fi password he texted back you must have forgot to write it down. I did not appreciate his condescending tone during all of our communication. The house itself was beautiful. The problem is the owner advertises amenities that are not available to the renter. The hot tub wasbroken and he did not let me know until 8 o’clock the night before. The house has two fireplaces that you were not allowed to use. The house offers washer and dryer when I asked him for the code to the room he told me it was for The staff only. I let him know I did not planned for six days without a washer and dryer and he responded with it’s broken and most renters don’t want to use the washer and dryer. I used the same towel for six days and spent one whole day at a laundry mat washing my families clothes. He attempted to charge me extra for guests over six even though the house says accommodates 14. Due to personal reasons and Covid not all of my guests could stay. I did feel the need to check in him with him every night and let him know who is staying the night. He requested that I leave a personal check on the counter for him to pay for the extra guest which is completely illegal. The property is surrounded in cameras for security is not listed on the VRBO website he and I got off on the wrong foot and I felt as though I was being watched.
Two big reasons I stayed at this location was the jacuzzi and the fireplace. Both were emphasized in pictures and listed as amenities on the listing. To me a cabin without a fireplace and jacuzzi is not a cabin. I could have easily spent a 1/3 and saved an hour drive each way if that was not my priority.
A couple days before leaving the owner asked to chat about check-in. Yes he is very detailed, lengthy, and unnecessary as other reviewers have said, but I was ok with it
Oh that call he started that there was an issue with a neighbor and a burn pile a couple weeks before and that I could not do any fires as per the fire department. I took him at his word and moved on.
Problem #1 - untrustworthy owner
As we arrived the first night I messaged him because I wanted to confirm that his no fires asper the fire department did not include the indoor fireplace, he said that it did include the inside fireplace and went on a unnecessary rant about how he told me it before I checked in and "NO FIRES" were allowed. Yes, all caps several times was his mode of communication. He also went on a rant about how he is a Dr and treats all the local firefighters.
I knew right of the bat he was lying, bans on outdoor fires are common in the area, but never on an indoor fireplace. I asked him for clarification, but he insisted indoor fires (fireplace) were banned by the fire department.
The next morning I called the local fire department, spoke to a firefighter who confirmed there was no burn restrictions for my specific address. I told her the story of the owner and she transferred me to the assistant chief who also confirmed that not only was there no burn restrictions. He also confirmed that they never restrict inside fireplaces.
I gave the owner the benefit of the doubt and messaged him several times in the span of over a week with the time and names of who I spoke with giving him a chance to clarify, and he never responded.
Simply put, he is a liar. I can understand not wanting renters using a fireplace because of risks, but if that's the case don't list it as an amenity.
Problem #2 - usability
Missing outdoor cushions making them useless. The main bedroom missing pillow cases.
Problem #3 - cleanliness
The kitchen drawers were super dirty with droppings in most of them. Fridge still had the blood stains someone complained about over a year ago. A pillow case had blood stains on it. Cobwebs everywhere.

This guest was a challenge. He wrote a false review after staying with us the entire time of two days when he was told that he was not allowed to bring his gun to our home per Vrbo's rules. He was also told prior to his visit that Shasta County had a "No Fire," ordinance for any indoor or outdoor fires without permit. He was aware of the no fire rule prior to coming to the Lodge. Hot tub is new without fault and our house was thoroughly cleaned prior to his arrival because we live there half of the time and my wife is a meticulous cleaner and myself being an ethical physician, follow all covid rules for cleanliness and guest safety. Instead of having this review removed we were told by Vrbo to write our response here. This false review we resent as to it's inaccuracies and because the client badgered us from the beginning of his stay to discount his visit with us under false pretenses and as result told us that"you give me no choice," but to write a false review.
