This house was perfect for our girls trip for my 50th. Beautiful house with beautiful views. Beds and all furniture were cozy and comfy. Kitchen was well equipped for cooking in. Will definitely be back.
This house was perfect for our get together with friends to enjoy the beautiful wineries in the area! The house is really big and the location had great proximity to wineries, one is literally across the street. We loved the large sunroom that had plenty of seating for all 8 adults. The back deck is fantastic - lots of furniture and gorgeous views. Also loved that we could bring our doggie.
The perfect house for gathering our extended family! We loved the open yard, the views, proximity to farm stands and towns and the dog friendly winery just a walk away. With its large sunroom, big kitchen and cozy fireplace the home was a perfect place to enjoy family time.
Great place to get together with the family and our dogs - nice and private and spacious. Well stocked with a variety of things (kitchen, books, games, etc) that made our stay enjoyable. The sunroom was great! The free tasting vouchers for the neighboring winery was much appreciated.
We only stayed for the weekend but loved every thing about the house! Location and cleanliness was excellent. Definitely would recommend for bigger families to have ton of space and privacy as well.
Our family enjoyed the beautiful house that had all of the amenities and more! The house was spacious and having board games to play was an extra touch that my family enjoyed. The wineries were close by and we enjoyed a day of wineries on Saturday! The hosts checked in and were wonderful! I can’t say enough about this amazing place!
Can’t rave enough about our stay. The property was breathtaking and the house itself had anything and everything you could have needed. It was a home away from home.
We enjoyed the stay--serene and peaceful. Plenty of room for our four couples to sit together all throughout the house. We spent most of our time on the back porch-beautiful spot. The local wineries and restaurant suggestions were super helpful. The kitchen contained everything we needed, though the cabinets were so full we couldn't add our own things. We would recommend attention be given to the main floor carpeting, and to the garden area.
The home is welcoming and clean. The views and gardens are stunning. We grilled on the deck with the family and the kitchen and dining areas were more than enough space to enjoy the meal. Highly recommend the deck; lots of seating to enjoy the mountain views and gardens. We had one rainy day but the sunroom had tons of seating, windows and games so it worked perfectly!
The house is in a beautiful and secluded location on top of a hill. There is plenty of room in each room of the house, and seating areas are all comfortable. The beds are comfortable, too. I especially like how homey it feels. There was even a basket of dog toys available. I liked the fact that there were condiments, spices, and other items available if needed. Naked Mountain Winery is across the road, and we found they had our favorite wines on this trip. I highly recommend this getaway!
Vicki’s property was beautiful and just what we needed for our daughter’s baptism. The power was out (due to a storm) when we arrived and Vicki was very proactive in submitting an outage report and kept us well informed of any updates.
We came to the Virginia/DC area to participate in a large family reunion. We chose this property for six adults and one child, hoping to have plenty of room for all of us and some needed quiet, rest time after seeing the larger family. The property was perfect! Very comfortable, every amenity you would need, and a ton of extras! We’ve stayed a lot of places, never have we had one where so many extras were provided. The owner sent us some suggested places to eat nearby, we tried three and were not disappointed. Fabulous home!
This house was the perfect retreat for a girl's winery getaway. Super easy to get to from DC and well situated near a bunch of great wineries. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen - with all the essentials - as well as a fully prepped fireplace that made it easy for us to just light and enjoy! There were a few stink bugs hanging in the house. Didn't personally bother me, but others might want to know in advance. Thanks again, would definitely recommend.
The home was spectacular. We had everything we needed for a memorable Thanksgiving. The kitchen was perfect and provided more than enough space for everyone to gather and cook. The kids (1, 3, 3, and 6) spent all their time running around the yard, playing in the basement, or watching Christmas movies in the sun room. The adults really enjoyed spending their evenings in the living room, drinking wine and playing board games in front of the fire. The back deck provided amazing mountain views and was the perfect place for stargazing (we brought our telescope from home, the kids loved it).
Truly a magical place.
This is the second time we have stayed at Vicki's house in Markham, VA wine country, and we had a wonderful time. This house is gorgeous, charmingly decorated, and absolutely spotless. Although we had a couple of days of rainy weather, the children didn't miss going outside because the spacious basement, with all the children's toys and games, was enough to occupy them. We used the large kitchen to prepare holiday meals and ate them in the festively appointed dining room. As the weather cleared, we were treated to the beautiful mountain views available from many of the rooms in the house. It was a perfect retreat for our growing family—6 adults and 3 children. Vicki is an exceptional host. She’s readily available if you need to talk to her (but in no way intrusive), and she has a section in one of the kitchen corners with pamphlets and lots of suggestions regarding things to do in the area. For a quick outing, there is an excellent winery just a three-minute drive from the house. Thanks so much, Vicki. We hope to stay at your place again!Mary
We did all of the above! The property allowed privacy with quiet mornings and beautiful views. We cooked and everything we needed was in the kitchen. We worked and the WiFi was plenty enough for five adults. The home was just 25 minutes from our daughter’s wedding venue in Middleburg. Vicki left for us 8 vouchers at the winery, and though we didn’t have time to use them, we wanted to! There were plenty of towels, linens and places to gather for games. The yard was beautiful and we left two ferns on the front steps as a thank you. :) 10/10
Myself, my 2 children and their family 10 in all had to attend my mother’s funeral in Marshall. This was the perfect home for us all to be together and met all our needs. There was something for everyone. Fantastic kitchen for gathering and having meals together. The view off the back deck was amazing. The beds were comfortable and the kids had multiple areas they could watch TV and play games. Great property.
Vicki was a wonderful host! This home is cozy, beautifully decorated and has everything you need! The views are absolutely stunning and we loved eating every meal we could on the deck! Our hearts feel refreshed after spending the weekend and here and absolutely would stay again!
There is no question we will be back. The home was perfect for us: my husband, my brother, a son, and four grandsons. Everyone had space to be alone and we had space to be together. The home and grounds are besutiful, and our host was gracious. What a wonderful time we had.
You'll absolutely love this house in Virginia Wine Country!!!
My husband and I decided to take a 5-day vacation in Virginia Wine Country, and we chose Vicki’s house in Markham, VA. It certainly met our expectations and far more. We adored this home instantly, with its lovely décor, mountain views, and agreeable privacy. So charming! Everything was spotless, which surely added to our comfort.
We went to one or two wineries a day, drove Skyline Drive, enjoying its magnificent views, and even took the 45-minute trip to Luray Caverns. When not out and about, we cozied up and stayed home playing pool or having fun with some of the ample supply of board games by the fire place. We also relaxed catching up on a TV series that we never seem to have the time to watch.
Our host, Vicki, was a pleasure to interact with. She was immediately responsive to all our questions right from the beginning. Vicki deserves a lot of credit for the keeping her house and grounds in such pristine condition and for running her business with such amiable professionalism.
My husband and I hope to go back someday and couldn’t recommend this delightful house more highly.
With Sincerity,
Mary

About the host
Hosted by Vicki Lindsay 571-215-0330
My husband Geoff and I are busy DC metro area professionals. We love our country retreat in Virginia wine country, and we love welcoming our guests there! We cherish the natural beauty and relaxation it provides, and want to share this special place with others. We are experienced hosts, avid travelers, and frequent Airbnb guests ourselves.
Why they chose this property
You have complete and private access to the house and grounds, with the exception of the locked basement storage room. Cars may be parked in the circular drive in front of the house or in the garage. Fireplace is decorative only and not to be used. Enclosed basement room is not suitable for sleeping as there is no egress window. Borrow our sleds for winter glides on the back slope (at your own risk).
What makes this property unique
As you pull up in the circular drive in front of the house, you will find yourself on a hilltop with stunning views all around. Ample parking for 1 or more vehicles. Easily unload your luggage into the large, bright foyer. A ground floor bedroom with en suite bath is to your right, for those who prefer fewer stairs, while the parlor and living room, furnished with antiques and comfortable modern furniture, are to your left. At the back of the house is the eat-in gourmet kitchen, with a convenient island for food prep and cupboards fully stocked with staples. The dining room accommodates a large group. From the game room, which features floor to ceiling windows, a flat screen TV and billiard table, proceed to the huge deck overlooking the Blue Ridge Mountains, where you can grill and dine alfresco. Upstairs are 3 more beautifully furnished bedrooms with exceptional views. The master bedroom extends into a cozy sitting room. 4 full bathrooms so nobody has to wait their turn! Your washer and dryer are in the basement. Your furry friend is welcome with host pre-approval.
