If you know the Maui Sunset you'll want to know our location. UNIT numbers are important and tell you a lot. Our condo is in the B building, Number 421. The first number (4) indicates the floor, and the remainder (21) denotes the 21st unit. Each floor has 23 units (B Building), and 22 units (A Building). Unit 01 is farthest from the ocean and Number 23 the very closest to the ocean. There is not a finer condo to rent at the Maui Sunset in terms of furnishings and our view.

Kihei's warm, sunny weather is the best on Maui. Our home is conveniently located within easy driving time of the airport. Walk to nearby grocery store, restaurants, coffee shops, gift shops, craft market, drug store, Post Office, fast food and more. Excellent golf courses are nearby. Activity Desk on the property can assist with coordinating special trips and activities.

Really enjoyed our 4 days here. Plenty of room for 4 adults to hang out. Having a washer and dryer were nice additions. Location is perfect with the beach just steps away. Pool and hot tub appear to have been recently remodeled and are very nice. Overall a great stay.

As promised by host, Everything we needed was provided in the condo. The grounds were perfectly manicured. Pool and hot tub extremely clean. Location was central with grocery and shopping nearby and whatever activity you might need. The beach was a little rocky as you enter the surf but very lovely nonetheless. Million Dollar View is accurate.

Highly recommend!

Wonderful stay

Perfect condo for our family of 5 (3 kids ages 11, 9 and 9). Condo is incredibly well organized and amply stocked with everything you could possibly need, both for enjoying the condo (laundry detergent, trash bags, dishes, utensils, spices, grilling tools, etc.) and enjoying the outdoors (beach towels and chairs, snorkel gear, water shoes, extra sunscreen, tennis rackets, etc.). Condo and grounds look exactly like pictures posted by owner. Laid back vibe at Maui Sunset with lots of families. No issue getting chairs at pool at any time. Only real negative is that the beach by the condo is quite rocky and not ideal for swimming/snorkeling, though using the water shoes helps a lot. One plus for the beach though is that after sunset we saw some turtles emerge and camp for the night on the beach a very short walk from the condo. Overall, we were quite happy with our stay

Great condo but loud construction

Great condo! Beautiful view, very well stocked with all things kitchen, pool/beach gear, supplies. Little things like plenty of trash bags, paper towel and high quality toilet paper really made it nice! Took a star off for not disclosing the very loud construction going on. I understand in condo complexes there’s likely always construction but when your kids are woken up by the loud jackhammer from inside their room I think that should have been disclosed and was disappointed paying the summer premium I did to stay there and hear that. Took a video of just how loud it really is and am happy to share with owners if they don’t realize how loud it really gets in there. I know notices are usually sent out to condo owners when construction near them begins and ends but there was no mention to us as renters. It was weekdays only starting at 7-7:30 am and lasted until about 4. So fyi if you’re staying soon something to consider as it looks like it’s not close to being completed. If construction is completed when we come back we would definitely stay here again- so beautiful and great!!!

Not quite what we expected

My husband and I stayed here for 2 weeks over spring break with our 16 year old son and his friend. This was not our best holiday due to the fact that I fell very ill on the 5th day and spent the remainder of the holiday sick. We also were there at a time that it was very windy and that put a damper on some activities especially going to beaches as that blowing sand is a problem. PROS: - Joan the owner was excellent to deal with and very prompt with her replies and with returning our deposit - the view really is very stunning and the lanai is quite large which was a big plus, We however did not see any whales while we were there - the grounds are extremely well maintained - unit is well stocked with most everything you need - the complex is close to grocery shopping, etc - very helpful staff at the activities desk, helped my husband plan a lot of excursions - nice pool, and aqua classes 3X a week - sunsets CONS: - this complex is older and when you drive into the parking lot it has a run down look to it, we found it disappointing when we got off the elevator to walk to our unit how run down this side of the building was. However, to be fair the other side (ocean side) is much nicer. - for us we found having the bedrooms facing the parking lot side of the unit an issue. You cannot open blinds or a window as there is a common walkway right outside. In the past, we have stayed in units that face the ocean and allow for sleeping with windows open all night. Also the bedrooms back onto each other, so that doesn't allow for much privacy especially with teenagers. - Roosters. My husband isn't a great sleeper at the best of times, and every single morning starting anywhere from 3:30 - 5:00 a.m., (this is with closed windows) we were woken by roosters. This would go on for a good hour plus. I could fall back asleep, but my husband could not. - the bathrooms are not luxurious, and the shower/toilet combo in the master is a bit claustrophobic. No counter space in either bathroom. - This was not a great complex for the teenagers. The beach is not a swimming beach, there were very few other teens and unless we had a planned activity for them, there was not much for them to do. - the fitness room is poor - no seal under unit door, wind howls thru condo. All in all, it is good value for the price, we were just expecting more based on the reviews. This is not a 5 star property. We have given it a 4 because of the view/grounds.

The owners put in a lot of effort and work into this unit. The view from the huge, balcony was spectacular. The attention to detail was unlike any place we have stayed in Maui. White fluffy towels, comfy bed, phenomenal shower pressure, beautiful art displayed everywhere and it is all very new and very clean and very well kept. The full washer and dryer, high end dishwasher, huge fridge, cooktop and oven were so handy. If you love to cook the kitchen had EVERYTHING you needed. It felt like home for us. There are elevators and carts to help you push your things from the car to the unit. The 3 AC units are a little loud so we just put them on for a little bit before we got ready for bed and then shut it off. There are good ceiling fans and beautiful trade winds that help during the day. The pool area and grounds are stunning and well kept. Lastly, the owners give you peace of mind. They care about you and the unit they have renovated and it shows. We just packed a few clothes and went to Costco, Walmart and Target for groceries and ate out a few times. Will definitely return to this unit.

Beautifully decorated condo! So modern and all amenities needed. Grounds are beautiful, nice pool and hot tub. Activities on property, watched turtles in the surf in front of park. If you play pickleball, there is a court just down from the tennis courts that many people gather every morning at 8am to play. We really enjoyed that!Highly recommend this unit and location. We hope to visit again.

Maui Summer 2025

The condo was perfect for my family and I! There was the perfect amount of room for five. We had a great place to hang out when not going around the island. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare quick meals or snacks. The view from the balcony is the highlight!! Perfect sunset views without leaving your room!! The beach is a quick walk away. My kids loved walking out to the sand just to run in the waves.

Excellent home away from home

The house provided everything we needed for a relaxing week on the beach. Really enjoyed the on site pool and tennis courts. Beautiful views of the ocean, the sunset, and the beautiful lawn where many gather to enjoy a wonderful evening with family or friends. Within about a mile of fast food, a supermarket, souvenirs, a luau, and lots of local eateries like Maui Burgers where you’ve got to try an Aloha burger or one of the many other choices. Rates 5 stars on everything because I really don’t have one complaint.

Great Family Vacation

The place was great, wanted to share a special moment with my parents in Maui and make some cool memories and this place made that happen. Check in process was super easy and check in info was really detailed which I appreciate. Place was very clean and organized very well and the grounds by the water were beautiful. P.S those winds are no joke, my mom and I got blasted off the beach one afternoon :D (again great memories) Thanks again for letting us use your place.

Perfect

This condo is on the 4th floor with a great western view of the sunset from the lanai. The kitchen is as well-stocked as any I've seen. It even has a candy thermometer, I haven't seen one of those in years. The location is very convenient, about 25 mins. to the airport and the beginning of the road to Hana, and about the same to Turtletown. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Paul and Joan currently reside in Texas and Minnesota. Prior to that they lived in West Virginia and Albuquerque, New Mexico. Paul was lucky to have spent two years on Oahu as a child. A medical meeting on Maui rekindled the passion for Hawaii. They love to visit the different beaches, snorkeling, kitesurfing (Paul), pickleball right outside, and relaxing on the lanai - especially the mornings and sunsets.

Why they chose this property

After exploring all the condos in Kihei we chose the Maui Sunset for it's ambience, impeccable grounds and pool. Everyone was so friendly. When we first walked into the condo we ultimately purchased we were left breathless by the view, and knew it was the right one. Our beach is never crowded and perfect for daily walks. The central location of our condo makes it easy for us to explore the rest of Maui.

What makes this property unique

We keep our condo equipped the way we like to enjoy it. We've taken care in our 2021 renovations with modern features. Wall oven, island cooktop, large refrigerator, and updated full sized washer and dryer. Island pendants and canned lights provide generous lighting. Our guests appreciate these touches and all the amenities we leave for them to enjoy. Joan loves to cook, and we always have dinner parties with friends when we visit. Most days we take small half-day trips to enjoy all that Maui has to offer. By late afternoon we love to soak in the pool and hot tub, read, and talk with our friends (old and new). We cook most of meals in the condo or outside on the BBQs. Morning coffee out on the lanai while watching the West Maui mountains light up with the rising sun never gets old with us.
