THE LOCATION

Vernon Township is in Sussex County New Jersey, USA. It is located about 1 hour from New York City and was established on April 8, 1793. Iron mining was prevalent during the mid-to-late 19th century. Mines such as Canister Mine, Williams Mine, and the Pochuck Mine created industry which spawned local businesses and brought rail travel to the town.
Today Vernon and the immediate area is an outdoor lover’s paradise. Here you will find a landscape consisting of residential and resort communities, farmland, apple orchards, pumpkin patches, bird watching, barns, horse farms and stables, lakes, fishing, and just so much natural beauty. The famous Appalachian Trail (AT) even runs through it! You will be amazed on what you will find only 1 hour outside of New York City.

Great Location

Went for a quick ski trip with the family and this place was perfect. Parked the car in the garage and didn’t need it until we left. Walked to lodge, lifts and snowtubing. Enjoyed the outdoor pool and hot tubs as well. Very clean and everything you need for fun time.

Beautiful property, nicely situated being able to view the hot tub, sauna area, and edge of ski lifts. Some great games to keep busy on a cozy day in or chilly night like when it was in the teens while we were there next to the fireplace. Only downside was few glasses other than coffee mugs that matched, one solo 16oz glass, and a glass cappuccino cup, remaining glasses were all mugs. One of the seats was replaced at the kitchen table, not an issue for us at all, it was unclear when the chair had been replaced, old one was in the closet at check-in. Communication with host was great, very effective, clear, and concise. 100% would stay again

Perfect winter overnight night stay for hikers.

Stairway to Heaven on the AT is too busy in summer. Winter is the perfect time to do it and this was a lovely way to rest, relax and warm up. The fireplace was cozy. The view was fabulous and the year round pools, hot tub and sauna were so soothing. Highly recommend.

Great place to stay at MountainCreek.

We chose this property for a 4 day weekend ski getaway. The full kitchen, view, and layout was perfect for us. Check in process was so easy (we got to check in early!). The outdoor heated pool and hot tubs were just what we needed after a long day skiing. (Bring beach towels). We can’t wait to book again.

My wife and I decided to buy this condo at Black Creek back in 2010 to create family memories and traditions with our 2 kids. We spend a lot of weekends there since its only about 1 hour away from our home in Bergen County NJ. We love sharing it with our guests who come not only from the US but also overseas. We love that!
