Do you want to experience living in a strawbale house? Our home sits on one acre with beautiful views of surrounding hills and mountains and is dog friendly. The home has stone and earthen floors, interior and exterior earthen plastered walls, and we used locally sourced materials where possible. Easy access to some of the best outdoor living in the country: fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, and skiing. This home is only available for 30 day or longer rental periods.
House is custom designed with circular main room (living, kitchen, dining) with bath and small bedroom on the east and west side. King bedroom studio sits 30 feet behind the main house.
Our place is 45 minutes from Wolf Creek with 6 miles of county maintained gavel road. The driveway is 300' with moderate uphill. We have a snowblower and tractor but 4 wheel drive is recommended during winter months.

Loved the property, was cost and warm in the main building. Seperate bedroom was cold first night but after we got the heater on it was fine the remaining days. Would definitely stay again.
We had a wonderful month at the Owl House! My husband and our older dog enjoyed just staying at the quiet, peaceful location while our younger dog and I explored the many hiking trails around Pagosa Springs. The house was well equipped with everything we (and the dogs) needed. Communication with the host was easy and always quick, and check-in was a breeze.
The owl house is an amazing place to relax and unwind . The quiet and beautiful location is peaceful and amazing. Nicely priced and comfortable with nature at your doorstep. Easy to care for and communication with owner makes it stress free. Highly recommend it!
We had a great stay at the Owl House and Chuck was very helpful. The home is about a 15 min. drive (6 miles) from Hwy 84 so it is a nice secluded location (can only see one or two neighbors at most from the house). The home has everything you would typically need for a stay (including full size stacked laundry units, cookware, dishwasher, etc.) Our stay was in July so we had a fan (recommended in summer) and opened the windows once the sun went down. Nearby on 84 is Echo canyon reservoir, Rocky Mountain Wildlike Park, and downtown Pagosa is a beautiful 25 min drive from the house. Our family really enjoyed the time we spent here in the Pagosa area and we would stay at this home again.
