About this property
Circe & Hare Lodge, a magical 3 BR Romantic Log Cabin Getaway with Hot Tub
“It felt like staying at a dear friend’s cabin —one with wonderful taste who thought of everything.” A log cabin on a wooded hillside~ blankets beckon and every thoughtful detail invites you to slow down, get cozy & feel perfectly at home. Inside, the blend of rustic soul with refined comfort envelops you. A space rich in texture and warmth, everything chosen to create a feeling of quiet luxury and ease. Not just a place to stay, this cabin is a curated experience you'll return to year after year.
Welcome to Circe & Hare Lodge — a cozy hillside log cabin tucked into Vermont’s picturesque Northeast Kingdom. Step inside and let the peaceful charm of this rustic yet refined retreat wrap around you. Whether you’re here to relax by the fire, soak in the outdoor hot tub beneath the stars, wander forest trails, or simply breathe in the mountain air, you’ll find everything you need to unwind and feel at home.
Built on a slope overlooking a river and distant mountain peaks, the lodge blends traditional log-cabin craftsmanship with thoughtful, modern comforts. As hands-on owners, we’ve poured care into every detail — from renovating the cabin ourselves to personally maintaining the property — all to ensure each guest enjoys the utmost comfort and a truly memorable stay. The property is organically maintained, surrounded by gardens, woods, and the quiet sounds of nature — offering a level of privacy and serenity that makes it feel like your own hidden retreat.
Inside, you’ll notice the difference right away — this isn’t a bare vacation rental. It’s a home curated with care: plush sofas, soft throws, fine linens, real art and antiques, and a kitchen stocked with chef-quality cookware and gadgets.
At the heart of the cabin stands a grand stone fireplace, its chimney climbing gracefully beside the open wooden staircase. The warm glow of the fire fills both the living room and reading nook, where you can curl up with a book. The open floor plan flows naturally into the kitchen and dining area, which open onto a natural wood deck overlooking the hillside, river, and rolling mountains beyond — and just steps away, the hot tub awaits.
The first-floor bathroom offers a touch of indulgence with heated tile floors, a modern washer and dryer, and plush bathrobes for your stay.
Upstairs, you’ll find three cozy bedrooms, each with its own personality. Slide open the barn doors to the romantic primary suite, where vintage factory windows overlook the fireplace below. Step through the door onto your private balcony — the perfect spot to gaze at the star-filled Vermont night sky.
Across the hall are two inviting bedrooms, and a large walk-in closet which holds extra linens, blankets, games, and plenty of space for luggage and clothing.
Circe & Hare Lodge is more than a getaway — it’s a place to slow down, reconnect, and savor Vermont’s simple beauty in complete comfort, privacy, and care.

About the host
Hosted by Leslie Bean
Leslie's background is in art and gardening. She has an eye for creating beauty and cozy spaces, indoors and out. She's devoted to doing right by nature and incorporates eco-friendly practices in her gardening, and care of the cabin. Matt is a musical instrument-maker. He has a deep appreciation for architecture, furniture and design, which he poured into the renovations of the cabin! Together, Matt & Leslie enjoy cooking, being outdoors and maintaining a small homestead. They truly love Vermont and want to make sure you fall in love with Vermont too!
Why they chose this property
Circe and the Hare- We hung one of our favorite paintings on the wall “Empire of Mind”, painted by a good friend & amazing artist. This woman with antlers, sitting in a snowy landscape, reminds us of the mythological goddess “Circe”. Standing back she looked so magical and right for the space, as if it were hers & she was there to watch over it. We couldn’t resist naming the place after her! Now, for the Hare. We're in love with the snowshoe hares of Vermont (and all wildlife, really). Snowshoeing in the mountains around the cabin our first winter, we found endless snowshoe hare tracks, but with the snow-white coats they grow for winter, they remained elusive to us. We never spotted one until one day in spring, after all the snow melted, a very curious snowshoe hare appeared on the back deck peering into the glass door at us! Since then he visits often - after all the times we came downstairs for our morning coffee and were greeted by him, we knew we had to dedicate the cabin to this little trickster as well. As for the cabin, Matt and I spent over a year and a half renovating entirely ourselves. It was a true labor of love, we set out to make it artistically and uniquely ours and never thought of it as a rental. It’s our home away from home & we love sharing it with people who appreciate the same things in life. We want our guests to be comfortable ~ as if it’s their home away from home. Greensboro, Vermont is a very special place, & if you find yourself here you’ll probably notice that there is something more about it than just being scenic and beautiful. Chances are you won’t be able to put your finger on exactly what makes it so wonderful, but you'll know that everything just feels right!
What makes this property unique
Tucked away on five private acres in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Circe & Hare Lodge offers the kind of quiet luxury that feels like being wrapped in a warm blanket. At its heart is a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, where evenings are spent by the fire with a glass of wine or a good book in hand.
Step outside and you’ll find direct access to the Lamoille River, peaceful trails for walking or snowshoeing through the woods, and a private hot tub beneath the stars — the perfect end to a day spent exploring. A guest favorite is the hanging porch bed, ideal for reading, napping, or simply savoring warm summer days as hummingbirds whiz by.
Because the cabin is wonderfully remote, there’s no light pollution — on clear nights, a vibrant canopy of stars and the Milky Way seem to hang just above the treetops.
Inside, every corner tells a story. The cabin is filled with art, antiques, and carefully chosen decor that make it feel both elevated and deeply personal. The fully stocked gourmet kitchen invites you to linger over slow breakfasts or cook beautiful meals together, and the three bedrooms are designed for comfort and rest.
Dogs are welcome, because we believe the best memories often include your four-legged friends.
Circe & Hare Lodge isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a space to reconnect, reflect, and feel at home in the quiet beauty of nature. As one guest described, "It felt like staying at a dear friend's cabin - one with wonderful taste who thought of everything."
